  • One of the hardest things for me to do was to stop using the scale as my only means of measuring my success. Use the measuring tape too! During my fitness journey I have also learned that I had to adjust the goals that MFP set for me. Their calorie plan was too carb heavy; they set my carb/protein/fat ratio at 45/35/20.…
  • I Love both MMF and MFP and have been using both apps for a year or more. Up until a couple of weeks ago I had no troubles with MMF syncing to MFP. Now, however, MMF will only sync with MFP "GPS trackable" workouts such as, walks, runs, or anything else that can be tracked outside using GPS. When I start a DVD workout that…
  • No. Seriously, no. Log your food in the diary. It's a pain in the butt but log everything. When I started MFP I ate as I usually did, but logged everything I ate for a week. I was SHOCKED to see how many calories I was eating in a day. I seriously was eating 600-800 calories more than I thought I was. That opened my eyes.…
  • I understand your plight. My gal wouldn't quit smoking, eat better or exercise (except for the occasional 20 mile bike ride then she would be exhausted and sore and never exercise again because it hurts her). I used to nag her and all that did was start an argument. I tried the "but don't you want to live longer? Didn't…
  • I try to eat back my calories burned so I'm at my calorie intake goal as calculated by MFP. However, I do supect that MFP calculated calories burned are very high. As someone else said, I only eat them back if I'm hungry, not just because I can.
  • Greek yogurt has 2x the protein. My personal favorite is Fage non fat plain. I add vanilla, stevia, fresh fruit and granola and it's the perfect breakfast. I also use it as a replacement for sour cream and mayonnaise. I discovered that Chobani and Dannon (Oikos) have too much sugar; 20g and 17g per container! Yoplait non…
  • Non-fat greek yogurt (Fage is my fav), mixed with 1/4 cup of Bare Naked protein granola, and an apple. 100% whole wheat toast (1 slice) with natural peanut butter and an apple. Hard boiled egg and an apple (easy to carry). Breakfast smoothie: 1/2 cup non fat greek yogurt, 1/2 cup skim milk (or almond/rice/soy), 1 small…
  • I just turned 48 but spirit is so much younger! :drinker:
  • I spread it on 2 slices of toasted whole wheat bread, add a little peanut butter, sliced bananas, and viola! The best tasting sandwich in the history of....ever!!

  • Soak them over night, then cook them in a crockpot with hot salsa and diced onion. Make some brown rice. Take some rice and black bean mixture, put them in a warm whole wheat tortilla, add a little shredded cheddar cheese and ta da! black bean burrito! Save any left over beans and rice for the next day. Add chopped…

  • Eating too much of anything can tip the scales in the wrong direction. I believe avocados are a very nice alternative to mayonnaise on some sandwiches, particularly turkey sandwiches. They add a nice flavor and a healthy portion of essential fats. I also enjoy them wrapped in turkey breast meat with julienned cucumbers and…
