ugh, yes, knee pain derails me every time I try to do HIIT workouts. So frustrating. Just started up yoga again to improve flexibility and stability.
-
I also try to avoid buying stuff in the first place - if it isn't in the house I can't eat it. Tortilla chips are my downfall... I can't stop eating them, so I just don't buy them.

I used to be good about working out with a trainer 2 days a week, but fell off the wagon. Hit up a yoga class yesterday (and feel like I need bonus points for braving a new place with a class taught by someone I graduated from HS with - esp when she looks intimidatingly fabulous). I have tried a few different HIIT routines…

I work as a consultant in the engineering/environmental world and work from home. After a couple kids trying to get back to a healthy weight. Trying to make workouts fit around work + family commitments is a challenge... and I like food (after all, how else would I get to this point?).
-
Yes, so hard! Where is your group to join? I struggle trying to make the workouts fit in while the kids are at daycare plus working from home is very sedentary.
-
I'd like to join you. Started and stopped C25K twice in the last few months - first because of knee issues second because I got busy. Might not be able to restart until this weekend though!
-
I strongly disagree. On behalf of me and others who visit a gyms, please don't bring your cold/illness to the gym where I can catch it from you. Take some time off and rest. Cut your calories back some to account for skipping a work out. Priority is to get better and feel healthy/

WalkingAlong -- if you hover over the info button next to the fitbit adjustment it shows you when it last synced. For example, I ran several miles in my fitbit a few hours ago. When I log onto the fitbit website, it shows my projected burn for the day as over 2000. The info in my excercise log still shows it as the 5:14pm…

When I get shin splints, it is usually because I need new shoes. Go to an actual running store to get fit tested rather than just buying a pair from sports authority/****'s sporting goods/whatever chain sports store is in your area. Don't forget to take rest days. Your body needs time to recover from running.

I really like my fitbit. That fee adds up to a lot on the body media device - $6.95/month is over $83/year.

You should be eating your excercise calories back... MFP's calculation assumes that you are -- alternatively calculate your TDEE and subtract 20%. What are you setting your weight loss at 2lb/week? 1lb/week? 0.5lbs/week?
-
Happy to have more friends too - add me!
-
consider getting a fit bit-- that looks at your steps/movement throughout the day and will update in MFP with your calories. I think that's easier than trying to figure out if you're sedentary, lightly active, etc.

Vitamin D... if you have low levels takes a few days, but then you'll feel less tired.
-
You need salt/electrolytes for digestion (in addition to your water- maybe you need gatorade?) maybe you aren't getting enough? Probiotics are a wonderful thing too...
-
Yes, but she has irritible bowel and doesn't properly absorb food/nutrients in her digestive tract... So, I hardly think that counts.
-
I think I will bring the DVDs - and an alternate - and my running gear. No shame it having it take 14 weeks rather the 13 as long as you're still working hard.
-
How's everyone doing after week 1?
-
starting measurements... did anyone take these? I haven't done it yet - finding it hard to motivate myself to do so, though I know I will appreciate it later.
-
AWESOME! Keep it up. I'm so impressed that you're training fora half marathon... maybe once we get out of snow season I'll train for a longer race too...
-
Excited to see all these others grouping up here -- I'm sending a few more friend requests out to the new posters! I had to take yesterday off because of travels - but started on Sunday, so I think I'm back on the same schedule as those who started Monday!
-
Circuit Training is what I have always used for her workouts.

I'm adding both you ladies as friends. I just finished W1D3 - the Cardio excercise. I can see why some of the other threads were complaining about the running man! I also have a 5K coming up on 12/21 - weather permitting. Also will have an 8K in early march.
-
Awesome -- I will send you a friend request. It'd be good to be doing it "with" someone.

I have a fitbit. www.fitbit.com

^^this^^ When I'm up moving constantly all day its a whole lot more ACTIVITY (not excercise per se) than when I sit at a desk for 8+ hours. May not be "excercise" - but it is also more activity than normal. My fitbit tracks my fluctuations in acitvity per day, so I won't track any "excercise" (even my turkey trot for the…

Most friends I have known who are pregnant could keep up their pre-pregnancy exercise -- but not go beyond that... a very pregnant woman ran a small 5K I was in the other day... and I know someone who ran a 1/2 marathon pregnant. You might want to ask a few more followup questions with your doctor and ask specifically what…

I am going to start this at the end of November, after I finish training for a 5 mile race and doing 30 DS.

Your fitbit will adjust throughout the day. The adjustment is based on the project burn for the whole day. The total on your fitbit (and on the fitbit dashboard) is the point you are at so far in the day for calorie burn. The fitbit adjustment will change throughout the day based on how much walking around you do at…
