physical limitations and sticking to a plan

Hi there! I am looking to lose weight and get into shape, i'm in an intensive PT program for hip stability issues that incorporates a 6 day workout into my 3 days a week of fencing. It's so frustrating and painful. I'm trying really hard to stick to plan. Does anyone else have mobility issues?

Yep. I have to work around it or accept it as my limitations. I gave up playing golf which was so fun for me but I have shoulder issues and cannot play anymore. Sold all my equipment and I'm okay with it.
I now hike and bike.0 -
ugh, yes, knee pain derails me every time I try to do HIIT workouts. So frustrating. Just started up yoga again to improve flexibility and stability.0

I do not have any medical training, but do know about living with a disability and the pain and frustration that can go hand in hand. I have been physically disabled for about 20 years, I have mobility issues, can barely walk, even using crutches and spend a lot of time in a wheelchair. Also have other health issues, that can make things worse. So I have learnt to listen to my body and know it's limits.
It is important to stick with your exercise routine, as advised by your medical team, to help your mobility. Any exercise, you manage will help your health in general.
BUT I have still successfully lost weight, without exercise, through diet alone. It has become a healthy journey, rather than a diet to lose weight. Having found and then made full use of MFP, has really helped me make a difference.
Accepting that slow and steady, is best. I try to balance my macros & nutrition to help my general health, as well as aiming to hit my calorie target. I started using mfp about 3.5 years ago, with a maintenance break in the middle. But I currently have a 677 day streak, of complete and accurate logging here on MFP. Not always easy but it has also kept me accountable.
I have managed to lose 44lb overall, finally have a healthy bmi.
Message me a friends request, if you would like mutual support along the way.1 -
Been in a wheelchair for ten years. Was diagnosed with MS 25 years ago. Lost 100 lbs. one time. But I gained ten pounds back after all of these years. Still independent and still exercise twice a week .MFP says that I should be sticking to 1200 calories a day. That also happens to be when your body's 'starvation mode' kicks in (your body's metabolism slows down}. Tdee says that I should be consuming 2000 calories a day. No thread. Where do I turn. Been to handicapped sites and have checked many MS forums. Coming up empty. Ideas?0
