Hi All, found a lot of low carb friends on this thread before and have learned a lot by watching your diaries and progress. I would love to find some more low carb friends with OPEN diaries, it really helps to see how others are doing it!

I am in the same boat. When you have small kids, you HAVE to have carbs in the house and since they eat constantly, you tend to snack along with them...am I right? I've tried "just not buying" them but the kiddos need them. So...where I'm at, possibly where you are at is, mustering the willpower to resist them. My best…

I am easing my way into a low carb diet, another PCOS victim here and I'm having separation anxiety with my carbs!!! Would really love the support and ideas of others!!!

Congratulations!!! You are doing great!!!

Nobody else in my family has been diagnosed with it however, I think my mom has it. She has several of the physical symptoms-skin tags, hirsutism, etc. and I think she said once she had irregular cycle. I also have a cousin who has some major reproductive issues but not specifically pcos. We have to remember that PCOS…

I also don't worry about sugar from fruits. I only track refined or added sugars (like sweeteners). However, you can use the glycemic index to find fruits that are lower in sugar if you are interested in keeping fruit sugars lower.

Hi all-I am trying to figure out the best nutrition for pcos as well. I am hearing the low glycemic diet is really helpful. Hope others will share their input here!

I am overwhelmed with all of the research I have to do! Can't I just take a magic pill? :)
-
Just out of curiosity, when you say you are "sensitive to carbs", what does that mean? what happens if you eat carbs?

I wasn't told that I am insulin resistant. According to my doctor, my PCOS isn't as severe as others so I don't think she really took it seriously. I've just noticed in the past two years some other symptoms creeping in: pelvic pain, additional hair(more than the usual to much) and of course, weight gain.

Learning breadmaking can be kinda hard at first but don't give up! Once you figure it out, its worth it!!!!! If you like to prep ahead, you can make multiple loaves and freeze some so you don't run out. Also, if you decide not to make your own, I'm sure someone locally makes it, check your farmer's markets and co-ops:)

I was diagnosed about 3 years ago and was also told "not to worry about it" unless I had trouble conceiving. Reading stories on mfp is opening my eyes to new information about PCOS. I didn't know it was so related to my weight, it could explain my lifelong struggle! Hoping to learn from you all!

Hey! I don't have advice but wondered if you joined the weight lifting group...I joined because I am at the very, I mean very, beginning of wanting to incorporate weights. So I searched the groups. There is a book called The New Rules of Lifting for Women which a lot of people have recommended.

Awesome! Good job!!!

You are right, mfp has a great and supportive community. So many people here have inspired me! Dig through the forums and search topics that relate to you, good info there!

How about taking a couple workout videos with you when you travel? Most of those videos can be done in small spaces (like if you have to stay in a hotel). Also, if you do some planning ahead, you can stay places that have fitness rooms. You can also locate grocery stores instead of restaurants while you travel. That way…

Congrats on your new life and body! Keep up the good work! And thanks for the inspiration!

I don't have an answer for you but did you know that there is a NROLFW group here on mfp? They might be able to help if you post in there.

I wouldn't worry about the sugar if its in fruits and veggies. But if you want to make different selections of healthy foods based on sugar levels, you can check out the glycemic index list of foods(you can find these lists online doing a search). It helps you to see which foods are not only sugary but turn to sugar in the…
