Addicted to carbs! Help!

I am utterly addicted to pastas and other baked goods. The worst thing is, I am fully capable and equipped to make my own, so "not buying" it is a moot point. I have switched to hidden veggie pasta, but I HATE whole grain bread. It's dry and it SUCKS. Besides, I am not big on sandwich bread anyway. I am home a lot with my daughter and I eat out of boredom quite often, but never crave anything healthy. I know I need to suck it up and eat an apple when this happens, but I will still go hunting for junk after I have eaten it.

Does anyone have any advice? No judgements, not rude comments, just advice.

dont keep trigger foods in the house. chew gum. move more.

we all have our cravings and food addictions- but it depends how bad you want it. i screwed up royally all fall stress eating frigger foods at work, and gained about 20 lbs, which im still losing. its a constant struggle, but i get better every month.

the best advice- track everything. track accurately (get a food scale and weigh the food). and track as u eat it- watching the calories add up is sometimes enough to make you stop.

you dont have to eat low carb. find a healthy, sustainable calorie range that you can live with, and eat the foods that are really worth it.

So? I eat cake and ice cream every day. Make a healthier version or make it fit your macros.
  • I am in the same boat. When you have small kids, you HAVE to have carbs in the house and since they eat constantly, you tend to snack along with them...am I right? I've tried "just not buying" them but the kiddos need them. So...where I'm at, possibly where you are at is, mustering the willpower to resist them. My best advice is, have a plan and backup healthy snacks that are already prepared for when you are craving carbs. I do much better when I have something already prepared so I am not tempted.
