  • I too use my Polar heart rate monitor for my rowing sessions on the water. Although I row in a different type of boat than most people use (Pilot Gig). I start the monitor when we push out from the slipway and stop it when I get out or after lifting the heavy wooden boat out of the water and pushed into the tunnel. General…
  • For my club we use 500m times to record the pace of the crews. It's a good way of measuring crew performance and allow adjustments in selections.
  • 24 from the UK and I'm a rower (not many about it seems). Feel free to add.
  • Hi, If your looking for a good gym near Bradley Stoke, I live in Bradley Stoke and use Riverside in Little Stoke. Nice gym.
  • North Bristol here
  • Tonight I burnt 1063 calories in 60 minutes rowing on water (recorded by my Polar FT7). To achieve this I put 110% effort in and as a result averaged 145 bpm and a max of 182. Ok I'm quite heavy so burn more calories than the average man but its entirely possible. Tracked GPS row workout -…
  • Normally have 4-5 cups of Nespresso on lungo setting each day at work. Recently started cutting down as my left eye started twitching. Always use to have coffee with sugar and milk but just have it black now.
  • I also started on Promax Diet but changed to using MyProtein Impact Diet Whey as its cheaper and just as good in my opinion. I have two scoops for lunch with 300ml of water which provides me with 200kcal and generally keeps me pretty full until I finish work.
  • Pretty sure the black/red + black/silver ones are aimed at men. The rest are for women (although I don't think it really makes any difference as you program your sex into the watch). I have the Black/Red one; FT7 is really good, I'm really pleased with mine.
  • Don't know; I just throw mine in the wash every week and its been fine.
  • Good choice! I also own an FT7 and think its brilliant. Not had any problems with it picking up the signal; I always make sure I wet the skin before putting it on.
  • At work I was always known as the 'hot' one (not in that way). In fact I always insisted on having the AC on and had many battles with the ladies over temperature (I think 23-24c is nice but its apparently too cold!). Since losing weight I'm finding myself feeling a lot colder; to the point where I will occasionally wear…
  • Mike from Bradley Stoke. Gym goer and club rower.
  • Did 20 min HIIT on the elliptical trainer and burnt 341 calories.
  • Hi, Not sure if this is of any help. I have a Polar FT7 (tracks average/max heart rate and calories burnt). I have a smartphone and use a free app called 'SportsTracker' to track my rowing sessions; it uses the GPS and 3G data to track your sport activity (tracks different sports). Since I started using the app at the end…
  • Hi my names Mike I'm from Bristol, UK, I was always encouraged by my family to take up rowing (being 6ft 4") but always dismissed it. However, in September last year I joined Clevedon's Pilot Gig Rowing club (big sea boats with 6 rowers). Since then my technique and fitness has greatly improved; in November I was selected…
  • I personally set my daily target as 30% protein (I'm trying to maintain lean muscle whilst on a calorie deficit diet). Your body has to work 30% more to digest protein over carbs or fat (so I've read); everything I have read suggest its better to have more protein in your diet than too little. You will have to work out…
  • I started using MyProtein to buy shakes last month (just placed 2nd order today). I've been using Impact Diet Whey (double chocolate with water) as a meal replacement and snack. I have also been using Recovery XS (Strawberry but tastes horrible with water so now use skimmed milk) after rowing training and gym sessions. I…
