I havent got to that point this time, but I remember a few years back I had lost 30lbs and could not warm up for anything. We were in florida, during 4th of july, and I would be wrapped in a blanket any chance I got.

YES, it felt like the cold went straight to my bones. I suppose in my case 5stone would of given me a lot of extra insulation lol
  • Have your thyroid checked. When I started dieting I was cold all the time. you could have a low thyroid and not know it.

Yes! I used to hate people that complained of cold all the time - and now that is me!

^Ditto! Less fat is covering me, so I've lost some insulation! :P

It started the only other time I lost weight as a teenager, I was one of those big guys that could wear shorts in the snow. And even after I gained it back over several years I still felt much colder than I did previously.

Me too! I had to get an electric blanket so I could sleep. I also have low platelets (thin blood) which make it a little worse in my case, but I noticed a huge difference when fall hit this year. Definitely the lack of fluffy insulation. I hate winter!

This! Very important to get checked. Before I got diagnosed I wore sweaters in 90d weather!!

Yes. I wear layers, many layers! At work I have my space heater on the entire day and sometimes will wear my coat the first hour I'm at work. I dread going outside when it's cold which is hard to avoid since I live in North Dakota:)
  • All the time! I don't know the reason but I do know that in the past I've been slightly anemic. Being cold sure beats the hot flashes and sweats from when I was over 200 lbs.

YES! I thankfully live where it's warm 75% of the time but when it gets below 50 here, I am absolutely miserable outside. Cannot deal.... which seems sort of silly because I grew up in PA and it's damn cold there! I just cannot handle it. I am actually looking forward to getting our 90 degree days back. Cannot wait.

Yes! I sleep with 3 blankets and have my space heater blasting on me in my cube right now. Still, it's well worth the missing 25 lbs!

Yep, I drink 3 liters of water a day and thought that was making me cold
Then I went from 1200 to 1440 calories and I'm not NEAR as cold!!!

I'm sitting here in my home office wearing sweats and a hoodie. I've got a space heater cranked up to full blast. Yeah, I'm cold a lot!

I thought it was just me :) once I had lost about 30lbs I noticed I was feeling the cold a lot more. Usually in my toes. I even started wearing socks when in bed!

I'm cold a lot of the time, and my thyroid is fine I did have it checked in August. At work is the worst, I sometimes have to put on my coat and gloves inside!
  • I am always freezing as well when I used to be the one putting the fan on. I've had my thyroid and my levels checked, they are fine. So I throw on another hoodie and blanket :)

    Yep - less insulation!
And I think my body hasn't figured it out yet so my thermostat hasn't adjusted itself yet.

Ginger tea will warm you up for short bursts of time. I am always cold unless I am moving so it is either tea or housework.
  • Nevermind.

Same here. I think the first five lost pounds was the warm layer.

So cold!! Everyone looks at me like I have horns when I say i'm cold haha. Oh and I've had recent blood tests for something else and thyroid function is fine :) I've just lost padding haha
  • At work I was always known as the 'hot' one (not in that way). In fact I always insisted on having the AC on and had many battles with the ladies over temperature (I think 23-24c is nice but its apparently too cold!). Since losing weight I'm finding myself feeling a lot colder; to the point where I will occasionally wear jumpers in the office. This had shocked a lot of people; in fact now the office is warmer because I don't insist on having the AC on all the time some of the other staff now complain how hot it is!

I'm enjoying not always being hot all the time and not being singled out as the one that's always hot.

Yes. And I'm a man which makes it worse...weaing gloves, cranking the heat up....I knew I was doing it right when it was 95F one day in October, and I thought it was "comfy"...and I wasn't sweating.

Yes, Yes, Yes. I used to look forward to the winter because I knew I would be comfortable, not too hot, and not cold. Now I am cold all the time. I can't believe I am saying this but I can't wait till summer when it is warm LOL! I wear a lot of sweaters and I even got a heated matress pad so when I get into bed at night I don't freeze to death LOL! Crazy how things change.
But drinking hot chocolate or tea will usually warm me up.
