I quit cold turkey in 2004, after smoking 30 years. My mother was a smoker and had just been diagnosed with lung cancer. The size of the tumor in her lung was frightening. I did not want a similar ending. I had tried quitting in the past, using patches, gum and hypnotherapy. Nothing lasted until I witnessed my mother's…

The body definitely changes after bearing children and entering middle age; I like to call it a redistribution of the wealth.

My numbers: 5'9" SW 222, CW 178, GW 177. I joined MFP in November 2012 at 222 lbs. Original GW was 172lbs, which I reached in March 2014; however, I was really thin and much prefer my current weight. My activities include Bikram yoga, lap swimming, and walking 6 days per week. i consume about 1600 calories per day and wear…

I was in yoga class and saw my behind reflected in the mirror, thinking that fat *kitten* belonged to someone else; it took a moment for me to realize the fat *kitten* in the mirror was my own.

Cannot dodge the sugar with this pie, but the epicurious pie is only 362 calories per serving. I've been having a slice every morning for breakfast since Thanksgiving. Bon appetit! joythebaker.com/2013/11/dads-sweet-potato-pie/ https://epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/sweet-potato-pie-105142

I've been making oatmeal (Old Fashioned Quaker Oats) to go, serving it in a mug for many years now. That will definitely hold you until early afternoon.

I have a Tanita, oversize digital $75.00 (comes with free pedometer worth $35.00) Traded up from an older analog when I began this journey--very accurate and easy to read. thecompetitiveedge.com/shop/item/123-productId.184550176_123-catId.176160793.html

Take action NOW! I reached my goal last spring. Went on a fabulous cruise, wine festival and family reunion. By the end of the summer I had gained 10 pounds and been trying to get rid of it ever since. I knew I wasn't going to be logging daily but the indulgences certainly added up. I have a similar itinerary this summer…

I count because it keeps me honest. I reached my goal weight last Spring. Went on a cruise of a lifetime, Crystal all inclusive; then attended a 3-day wine festival; and a family reunion. I did not log while I was away but tried to exercise some moderation. By the end of the summer I was back up 10 pounds, which I'm still…

Love the crockpot; recently rediscovered my slow cooker during a kitchen remodel

I remember experiencing similar hunger pangs when I began this journey because I had been overeating for so long. It worked out though, just stay diligent and all will be well. Slow and steady wins the race.

Made me laugh cuz it's so true.

I agree and many I know attest to that fact.

Packages can easily be wrong. Like I said, it only takes 57 extra calories a day for two years to gain 12 pounds. That's not much food at all. In addition, if you are using cups instead of grams to measure solids, you can easily "lose" 57 calories a day. Here's a picture I made showing how 1/4 cup of almonds compares to 28…

Love this fact

Many women experience weight gain as they enter menopause. I started battling the bulge during my late-40s, increasing activity but not altering my diet. Eventually I hired a trainer who recommended a food diary; that's when I learned why my weight was on a continuous increase. I ate and drank with abandon since I was…

You have a great attitude; embrace the journey.

I concur

I follow this same plan.

Olive oil popcorn is another favorite too. I like it with a cup of hot tea.

Agreed. Sipping chocolate, dark of course, is also very nice.

Met my goal about this time last year but gained back ten after a wonderful cruise and other festivities this past summer. I indulged with no regrets, save the 10 lbs. Trying to get rid of this overage has been a challenge; it was easier getting to goal than trying to get rid of this. Add me too.
