  • You and me both! I tend to be less interested in the typical romantic gestures, but love low-key and very personal ones. I will be exactly 0% helpful here, as my ideal would be someone picking me up with my favorite take-out in hand, settling me in the hotel with a movie, and then giving me a loooong back/foot rub lolol.…
  • For lunch today, I finally had my first homegrown BLT of the season. Well, actually a B(noL)T. It was fabulous. Fresh Moonglow and Japanese Black Trifele tomatos, a smear of mayo, sprinkle of salt, and 3 slices of turkey bacon. On toasted sourdough. Perfection. Supper will be leftover pasta bake from last night - it was…
  • Lentils are my favorite. I don't think I could ever get tired of them!
  • The temperature has dropped a tiny bit, and so I have switched from craving light, fresh foods (salads, fruits, veggies) to craving carbs and cheese. I was thinking about doing a baked ziti tonight, and managed to lighten it up a bit. First cooked some turkey bacon and chicken breast slices. Then caramelized onions,…
  • Yesterday, pre-bike ride, I was down to 200.8. Not too bad after vacation - about 2 lbs of fat gain or so. Today, post-ride and salty meal, I'm up to 203.8 lol.
  • Yesterday husband and I went for a bike ride on a new trail. We didn't feel up for the whole ride (26 miles), but did about 17 which was just right. The weather was perfect. I feel like I haven't left my house since June due to the heat, so this early fall weather has been incredible! Also good to make up for the crap I…
  • @amart4224 AMAZING! Congrats!!! I'm looking forward to that day. Enjoy the feeling!!
  • It is! Just a pre-blended ground spice mix. Usually cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. Tasty and useful! (Bread pudding is amazing, at least the American versions I've had and made - nice bourbon pecan caramel bread pudding in particular!)
  • I came back from Anchorage at 205.6 lbs last weekend. Definitely some travel bloat, but also likely a pound or two of fat gain. Like all trips, it started off well. Then somewhere in the middle my brain goes "but we're on VACATION, we HAVE to get the triple berry crisp with ice cream for dessert", and it is a short…
  • Back from Alaska and getting settled in! Yesterday we smoked 4 fillets of salmon (that we caught in Valdez). We ate 2 small ones, vacuum packed the big one, and are having the other one for supper tonight. Getting out of vacation eat-all-the-things mindset has been hard but also feels good. I missed cooking and do like…
  • My in-laws live in Anchorage, so we're flying in and staying with them. We'll mostly do some various day-trips around Anchorage, except for this weekend, when we're taking a trip out to go hike on Matanuska Glacier. We are planing on one full fishing day too (I can't wait to bring a big box back home with me). Last time we…
  • Today is 199.8 I've been hovering around 200, which actually, I'm surprised it is so low! I expect to be retaining a good amount of water currently and for the next 2 weeks, just given where I am in my cycle. Anyway, tomorrow we leave for Alaska, so all bets are of for the rest of the month lol. I expect to eat close to…
  • I like the way you think, @lauriekallis ! I might just do that...
  • Breakfast today was some cinnamon oat Kodiak pancakes (with blueberries). Lunch was a quorn patty sandwich on toasted roasted garlic sourdough with a slice of garlic cheddar. Supper is salmon and leftover stirfry. I'm still hungry. I might eat closer to maintenance today if I can find something filling and worthwhile.
  • Breakfast was just a fiber one bar and a box of raspberries. Lunch was some leftover stir fry, to which I added some seitan Dinner was the last jar of last year's green beans, scallops, and baby potatoes. Delicious. This evening, I saved room for either a rootbeer float (diet rootbeer, low-cal ice cream), or a hot…
  • Oh no. I was right at my calories for the day. And then a mystery box showed up on my steps. A delayed Christmas present from my friend - the garlic themed gift box from her favorite local creamery. I already had half a package of garlic chipotle cheese curds with some roasted garlic sourdough and a drizzle of roasted…
  • Thanks @lauriekallis ! It was delicious! I originally was going to cook up some tofu too, and serve it all on top of some rice noodles, but I was impatient and it already looked like so much food, so we just went with the veggies. Saved enough calories to have an ice cream sandwich for dessert! Also I love samosas :yum:…
  • Channeling @Bella_Figura tonight with a rainbow stirfry (and feeling pretty proud of it!) From the garden: Orange bell pepper, serrano pepper, bok choy, 2 small stripey eggplants, thai basil, and garlic chives. From the fridge: Purple cabbage, onion, red bell pepper Cooked in toasted sesame oil and stir fry sauce, topped…
  • Breakfast today was a fiber one bar, yogurt, honey, and blueberries. Lunch will be an egg-white taco with guacamole and home made hot sauce. I wasn't sure about supper, but I have a ton of veggies to use up, so stir-fry it is! Ingredients TBD, but will definitely include eggplant, red cabbage, bell pepper, onion, and tofu.…
  • It was just as bad as my first apartment after college, when I lived directly across the very narrow alley from the food co-op. I worked evenings, got home at midnight. Midnight is also when their bakers came in. By 1 am, my entire apartment smelled like fresh baked bread. It was beautiful torture.
  • @conniewilkins56 The only grits I love are cheesy grits. Mmmm maybe with some shrimp, some fresh cracked pepper, a dash of hot sauce... @PAV8888 it is very much a Minnesota thing. (I went to college in the town that had the malt-o-meal factory, it made everything smell like cookies all the time. Except when the wind came…
  • Malt-o-meal >> Cream of wheat
  • Mini goal weights are the way to go! I celebrate every 5 and 10 lbs lost, any weight that ends in a 0 or 5, every BMI category change, and so many others. It keeps me motivated! 299 will be arrive in no time!
  • I think that is a great idea. Eat what you need, what feels good, what you want, and then tweak where needed. As you of course know, there is no need to force yourself to eat "good" food, or punish yourself for eating "bad" food. And if this helps you break out of mentally categorizing food like that, then I think you…
  • Yesterday was fun. For breakfast, I heated up some leftover lentil-barley meatballs with an over easy egg. I also tried some faux breakfast sausage links which were decent. I topped it off with coffee, and a huge bowl of blueberries with a drizzle of white balsamic vinegar. Lunch was a package of sweet chili shrimp and…
  • One of my favorite burgers is from a small bar in my old neighborhood back in MN. A burger, topped with chili and an over easy egg with some raw onions. You have to eat it with a fork, but it is incredible.
  • 199.4 Wasn't expecting to see that this month!!! It has been a minute since I've seen a number starting with a 1 (last fall, specifically, and prior to that....12 years?) and boy does it feel good. I definitely wasn't expecting this month's drop cycle to last so long (or to end up where it is!). I know it will float around…
  • Breakfast today was yogurt, blueberries, and a drizzle of honey. Lunch was the rest of the chaat salad. I wish the textures held up better after a few days in the fridge, but the flavor remains great. Supper I did what I had planned on doing last night. I took my lentil-barley mix, added some nutritional yeast, bread…
  • That is amazing!!!! I'm not sure I'll ever get to a "nomal" range, it seems so far away still. And 25.8 is pretty darn close. As Pav said - you're on the right part of the curve for health, regardless of the specific number!
  • Connie and Bella - that is incredible!!! It feels so good to watch it slowly tick downward! I officially started at 44 and today was 34.3. Cheers to category 1!
