  • Last I looked, it was still there. You have to have a message from him open to see it.
  • Since you have a doc appt but it's later, talk to your pharmacist. Changing your meds without consulting your doc can have serious side effects.
  • Unfortunately, that number may continue to climb. Nearly half our deaths are from the same nursing home cluster. It's really sad, and scary for those with loved ones in these facilities.
  • I even looked at the date before responding, because it seemed familiar.
  • Perhaps a call to the cab company as a gentle reminder, since this has happened more than once.
  •
  • This is how I feel about it too. When I've had someone pass (patient, not family), I do have a ritual when I get home to help with it. I will light a candle and spend a few moments thinking about that person and to thank them for the opportunity to care for them in those final days/hours and to wish them peace.
  • This has become the Canadians drooling over food and the Americans who covet the food thread!
  • I was thinking strawberry rhubarb, but apple would be good too. I also like meat pies. I'm not particularly picky on my pies. I'll take your raisins. I had forgotten about the all important meat pies until this post. I shall need some lard. I could make some single serving meat pies for work! I would appreciate it if the…
  • I'll have to make a trip out for the things I couldn't find today. I'll see about finding some lard. It can be kept in the freezer, right? What if I just bought a bunch of bacon and saved the bacon fat out of the pan?
  • Uh oh. We might have different ideas of what friends are good for.... My name's Nutty.... I like pie!
  • I got biscuits! And the snow is finally melting, so we'll be warm. Bring some lard and we can make pies. I have rhubarb that grows in my backyard too. It won't be ready for a while, but fresh strawberry rhubarb pie sounds good to me... How much weight do you want to gain?
  • I have ordered some take out, but much less frequently than I had been. The last order I put in with Boston Pizza, I noticed they are now delivering alcohol, which they never used to do. I had to pick up a bottle of wine, just because.
  • This is my problem too. Now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with a 4 ton bag of flour that I got at Costco today. I had two partially used 1kg bags, and both were expired (2018 and 2019). That's how often I use them. I started baking muffins and biscuits these last two weeks. Now I'm looking at bread starter,…
  • All this home cooking has my cranky pants fitting a bit tighter than usual. I'm trying keep out of trouble.
  • The conspiracy theories are fascinating, until you start to wonder what it would be like to live in that person's head. Then they are just sad and scary. I haven't needed to go shopping for weeks now, and so today I donned my gloves and a mask I got from my doc back in January when I had pneumonia, and I braved Costco with…
  • I think a significant factor in health care in general, care homes, hospitals, etc. is related to management. There are just some places that I've walked onto the unit and there's a heavy feel to it. When staff don't feel supported or appreciated by management, it makes work just that much harder. When it feels like you…
  • I'm assuming PM. I sent one too, but the messaging system seems hit and miss if you aren't MFP friends with someone.
  • It's been taken down due to copyright concerns. It was truly heart-wrenching. :(
  • I was wondering what happened!
  • Agreed. This is stuff that goes well beyond social interaction wherever it can be found. @COGypsy I appreciate a lot of what you contribute to this community. I really hope that you are able to get some help with this. It's been a difficult time for many people, and we are all dealing with it the best we know how. Please…

  • SARS-CoV-2 is the name of the virus. It is a coronavirus (family of viruses). COVID-19 is the illness caused by SARS-CoV-2
  • I wallowed in it for a couple weeks, but finally coming out the other side of it. This is going to pass. The uncertainty of it sucks. The emotional and financial toll it will take sucks. The lives that will be lost really sucks. We can't control those things. You control what you can, and try to let go of what you can't. I…
  • One of the links on there says that the first quarantined case with a positive test on the base was on Feb 12. The one who went to the mall was released from base on Feb 29th.

  • Agreed. You do look like you are making progress. Have you taken measurements? The lying scale is a lying liar who lies, sometimes. Pictures and a measuring tape can be your best friend when that happens.
  • Or this is just their normal personality, but more emboldened through fear and panic. :disappointed:
  • If they are being admitted to a hospital, it is because they need care that is provided at a hospital. They aren't going to admit people just because. Why would they spend the money on the bed and nursing care for people who don't need them? That's wasting resources that frankly we just don't have the luxury of wasting…
  • The purpose of having the infected person wear the mask is to reduce the droplets they spread when they cough.
