Setting small goals is a great idea to keep you motivated. You can do this!

I have limited mobility as well. I enjoy a strength training with light weights and use the Wii for my cardio--all from my wheelchair! I also have a a chair pilates dvd and there are several seated workouts on youtube. I can't also can't wait to try the Leslie Sansones easy walking video that I found on youtube. Just one…

Excellent mind shift!

To get fit and strong and get out of my wheelchair except for long distances. (I'll work on that next.)

Update: I've been strength training with my arms, and using Wii boxing from my wheelchair as cardio. I feel great. I don't know if I've lost anything, but I feel great.

I just wanted to say thanks for the replies and encouragement. I do want this badly. I will learn patience and learn to trust that I can do this. It will happen. Again thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the tips. And yes I do have a Physical Therapist. Right now we are working on gaining strength in the left leg. I just had surgery to replace a ruptured quad tendon because the other two surgeries to "fix" it didn't work. I haven't really walked on my own for four years, and before that, I was never a fit…

I have to use my wheelchair to exercise right now. I just discovered that the regular boxing game is quite the cardio for me. I have heard that others use Zumba, and I can't wait until I can get on my feet to try that one. (Nine more months of PT)

Perhaps if you contacted a weight loss clinic or hospital they may have one that would fit your size. Not sure of the budget though. Craigslist is the only thing I can think of, or ebay. Good luck though.

Flax has helped me. That and lots and lots and lots of fiber.

I have fibro and a list of other issues. I find that slow and steady is the way to go. I do exercises from my wheelchair currently, and they have helped with giving me more energy. Add me if you want.

I'm 40 with 50 to lose. Add me!

Not only do I have fibro, but I also have EDS and Lupus too. My pain was unreal, but it's getting better. Add me if you want.

As much as I would LOVE that, I live in very, very rural Maine. I have to travel two towns over just to get to Wal-Mart. lol It would be fun though. Ever here of Murderball? Now that's a sport!

I've never heard of that particular situation, but you are right to go back to the doc's. As far as weight loss with the inability to exercise, it can be done. I have been using a wheelchair and the Wii (I like tennis for slow stuff and boxing for more intense workout.) I also have been doing some arm strengthening with…

I have Lupus and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and I tire easily. I had some blood work done though, and found I would deficient in vitamins D and B-12. Now, I take supplements, and feel much better. I would contact your doc about blood work.

I do the same thing. For me it's a combo of my eating disorder, binging, and OCD. Anything that is a compulsion may be a sign of OCD. Just remember that OCD is not about cleaning or germs it's about compulsions. My compulsions center around my obsessive list making, hoarding, and placing feelings on non living things. My…

Since I'm barely walking to the bathroom and back, I use Wii tennis in my wheelchair. It's a small cardio workout, but better than nothing. I hope to add more as I recover from my surgery.

I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, osteopenia, fibro, lupus, arthritis, and hypoglycemia. Sadly I'm forgetting a few. The EDS is my worst, and I just had knee surgery to replace a tendon, a ligament, and reposition my patella. I need to lose 50 pounds to make life easier for my joints. I would like to walk again unassisted, but…

You can add me if you want.

Never! Hubby does all of the cooking, which is every day.

I am also recovering from major knee surgery. I also have a very limiting connective tissue disorder. I've been doing "wheelchair cardio" (Wheelchair Wii Tennis lol) and strength training to the best of my abilities. I'm hoping to walk more after my recovery, which will take 9 months or so. Feel free to add me! We can do…

I'm looking to lose 50 lbs too. Add me.

Me! I also have Ehlers-Danlos and a few other issues. I just had knee surgery in Nov., and I am slowly getting back into exercising. Right now it's Wii Tennis in my wheelchair.

There is a difference between feeling down and out and clinically depressed. Check with your doctor because it obviously bothers you. I struggle with this issue as well. Add me if you want.

You look great!

Thank you! Great tips and help. I may have to bump it up a little. So far I've changed to fewer processed foods, and more veggies (which I've never been a fan of until now.) I'm also trying to drink more water/herbal tea and no caffeine and sugary drinks. My biggest weakness is my Whirley-Pop popcorn and gorp. Giving up…

I am 40, 5'3" 181 lb. I am just beginning as well, and I would like to get down to 130. It's hard for me to exercise because I am a wheelchair user at the moment, and suffer from a painful connective tissue disorder. I also just had surgery on my knee. BUT I am eating healthier, and watching my calories. I plan to tone my…
