  • When I started working out, I used every The Firm vid I could get my hands on. I didn't find the instructors as annoying as Jillian Michaels. I have a HRM now, but I just counted the whole thing as cardio, usually about 1/2 of what MFP would estimate the burn was for the same amount of time.

  • Burpees are rough, especially when you're not used to them. Start my making it low impact. Take out the jump at the end. When you put your hands down, step one foot back, then the other, then step them back in and stand up. When you can do those quickly and without hurting, then you can try adding a regular burpee or 2 at…
  • Throwing in my two cents... I've done Insanity, both Asylums, T25 and I'm doing the 21-day fix right now. Happy to give you details on any and all, just message me. I love a hard workout, but the truth is, all workouts work. The magic is what you put in. If you're time-constrained, T25 or 21-day fix are the way to go…
  • Sign me up! I started here a couple of years ago, lost around 50 lbs, quit for a while, gained a bit back, but I'm back here again and I'm determined to get healthy again!
  • Today is day 7 for me. I'd love to join. Tomorrow is my first weigh in since starting and I'm quite tempted to replace tonight's yoga fix with plyo fix. Anyone have any suggestions?
  • It can be unhealthy because a lot of vitamins are absorbed through the intestines, like b-12. I had a similar situation for a year after my gallbladder came out (the doc swore it would last 2 weeks). So though I've been much better for 2 years now, there are still emergencies after high-fat content meals. The gallbladder…
  • I didn't lose any weight with T25 (I was doubling the workouts), so if I ever do it again, I wouldn't eat back the calories. But it could be personal - see how you do after the first week and how you feel and if you're losing, then continue accordingly. Good luck!
  • trying to bump this... on day 2 (3 if you count the fit test). Always looking for people to help motivate me!
  • Try T25. All but 1 of the 12 or so workouts has a low (no) impact modifier. You can still get an awesome workout in without jumping and Gamma (the 3rd optional month) is almost pure strength. I really liked it. It was only 25 mins a piece, so I usually doubled them up.
  • I have just about every fitness dvd you can shake a stick at! I like a lot of the "The Firm" videos - they almost always have a low impact modifier in them, there are varying degrees of difficulty, and they can be done with or without weights. Another *huge* favorite is the 10 Minute Solution dvds. I usually do the whole…
  • Sounds like "runner's knee" which is technically called patella femoral pain syndrome. I've had it off and on for 20 years. Basically, the outer thigh muscles are so much stronger than the inner ones that it actually pulls your knee cap out of place, which makes it either very painful to bend (or straighten when it's bent…
  • Hey everyone! I've taken a few months off from working out & dieting due to a terrible bout of recurring depression, but I got back on the horse tonight & started Insanity for the 2nd time. Shaun T is EXACTLY what I need to get myself back into the right frame of mind. I loved Insanity the first time, I've done both Asylum…
  • Hey all! Feel free to add me! I'm 5'4" & 171. Have lost almost 60 pounds already and I'm looking to lose another 50, though I might change that because I'm working on building muscle as well as losing weight.
  • Finished T25 Gamma on Monday and started Asylum 2 on Wednesday. I'm rather happy I completed Gamma because the first two workouts of Asylum as so heavy on pushups that the strength work in Gamma really helped! Hoping to get back to awesome cardio burns to take me into March and then looking to get more running in (want to…
  • Happened to me a few weeks ago. Had to send it in for service. Turned out the wires in the strap weren't right & they had to replace the strap.
  • I found a lot of good ones at the library & Netflix. Once you find ones you really like, Amazon has a LOT of them as used or new from other sellers for dirt cheap. Also, I've seen them at book sales where they're usually a couple bucks each, but you can't be as picky there!
  • I've been at this for well over a year, but over the holidays I got tired of behaving and maintained my weight instead of losing. I clipped my calories back to 1200 yesterday and I'm continuing to workout, but I definitely need a lot of support to not accept the weight I am now as the best I can do. While I'm now what I…
  • It's been a while since I checked in here! I took several weeks around the holidays to relax (I was over a year of dieting & I couldn't deal with my calories being over every night, so I just went for maintaining cals & continued working out). Now, I'm SICK of the scale not moving (except up & down the same few pounds). I…
  • I always wanted to run, but never could make it more than a couple of minutes. I gave up & started doing dvds at home, eventually working my way up to Insanity. Then a few months ago, I was on vacay & I had to use the hotel's workout room, which was a treadmill & elliptical. I figured I'd give it a go on the treadmill &…
  • I workout in a tiny room and I've done Insanity, Asylum (have to modify some because I don't have enough room for the ladder!) and T25. Moving everything onto the bed so I have any room at all actually counts as a part of my workout!
  • Still working on my T25/Asylum hybrid. Only 9 more Asylum workouts & then it's just T25. Planning to do Asylum 2 when this is done beginning in February. Started the Beta cycle this week & I found the workouts are much easier than the Alpha round... or maybe it's just easier to double them up the way I do... At any rate, I…
  • When I first signed up, I said I wanted to lose weight as fast as possible & so I went with the 1200 calories. It worked for a while, but I was always worried about running out & at the end of a few months, I hit a plateau. I was working out most days, so I upped my allowance to 1500 & i'm fine. I'm losing weight again,…
  • I'm doing T25 and Insanity Asylum together. Doubling T25 on S,T,R (after Insanity, 25 minutes wasn't enough cardio). I'm loving them. I have back muscles! As for the scale, Shaun's programs tend to build muscle in the beginning & then the weight loss comes, so pay more attention to clothes & how they fit. I have a Weight…
  • Still working on my Asylum/T25 hybrid. Asylum single workouts on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, T25 doubles on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and a rest on Saturday. Trying to keep up my motivation on nights when working out is the last thing I feel like. Shaun T helps!
  • I decided to take some time off from working out because I was having a lot of pain in my knee. I have arthritis in one knee and after sitting out my workouts for 5 days, I've determined it's the cold rather than the working out. My knee still hurts even when I don't do anything, so I started back on my Asylum/T25 Hybrid…
  • Feel free to add me. I've been a vegetarian for 27 years next month. :)
  • Just finished Insanity a few weeks ago, so I'm doing a hybrid of Asylum & T25 right now. I'm doubling up the T25 workouts to get calorie burns equal to Insanity, but there are still points where I have to slow down. There are no breaks here, so it's 25 straight minutes of hard work. Even the modifier is dripping in sweat.…
  • I started my T25/Asylum Hybrid yesterday. Like them both so far, but only one day of each... Fitting the ladder in here is a b*tch but it's fun since I'm so not an athlete & I get to pretend I'm one!
  • Got my email from Beachbody today - they're sending me my shirt for completing Insanity! I'm stoked!
  • I know it's mean but I'm kind of giggling... give me a call after Max Recovery. ;) I'd rather have Max Interval Plyo twice in a row over a single Max Recovery! That was the worst!
