@MaddawgMadsen my gosh, the frustration, both on the wallet and the work front! Good for you for knowing your worth and looking elsewhere - I see you as the next Leslie Knope!!
-
Amazing!! I love your work, and your outlook!!
-
@IsabellaShoshana please, please read carefully and take on board the post above from Ann. She is so very correct.

I'm in Australia and still have free access to the scanner, interesting that someone signing up new might not - half tempted to set it up on my husband's phone and check! I do find that the scanner is very useful as long as I check the info against the label, might just be because I use a lot of Aussie products (obviously)…

The pasta increases in weight because it absorbs water. Water has no calories. So if you weigh 100g dry, then cook it, you log 100g dry because that's what you ate. If you want to weigh when it's cooked, you would find the entry on MFP for cooked pasta, and enter the weight you ate of cooked pasta.

@lauren_989 PW: 94.1kg CW: 94.2kg Bit of a blip, but my weekend of eating was not great (nor was it tracked), and on the flip, I did an 11km walk yesterday and I'm a bit sore. Back on track this week though. I want to hit my 30kg down!!

In the US it is a premium feature, in Australia and the UK (not sure about the rest of the world) it is still free. It used to be free for everyone. It seems pretty poor form to take a free feature and make it paid rather than improve the paid offerings...

Yesterday you were a nutritionist and a personal coach looking to stay fit and healthy, today you're looking for other people taking a bunch of woo-woo over the counter products and looking to lose weight, and needing to up your activity and track your calories more... Methinks you're a pretty subpar scammer, if you don't…

I'm still in a WW FB group, because it's local and handy for recipes and sales, and a lady posted asking how to log her 1 hour infra-red pod sessions because it burned 600 calories in that hour. sigh.

It's water.

Peak protein says serves 30, so I'd say 30 bites. The carrot cake bites are a bit harder because it says serves 6, but to use a 1TBS scoop to put them on a tray, so really, however many it makes divided by 6.

This is atrocious advice. Please educate yourself before telling people to do silly, dangerous things.

I am a sugar fiend, and I cannot moderate. Having a "healthy" sweet snack doesn't do it for me, it just makes the craving worse, and when I cave, I've had the calories from the cave and from the earlier snacks. I fight sugar cravings with opposite foods - sour or spicy. Pickles, tom yum soup, olives etc.

@lauren_989 may I please weight tomorrow? Monday was a holiday here and I was positive it was only Tuesday when I got up, so I didn't weigh!
-
If you have a food scale, you could weigh the glass of milk before and after eating your cookies and weigh the difference.

Sorry Jon, but Recipe Boxes aren't shareable/searchable by other people on MFP, they're for you only.
-
There's a "Recipe Discovery" section under the menu on the app where you can see the recipe and there are lots of recipes in the blog. There's no search function for Recipe Discovery, it's all browse, but in the blog you can search by keyword and it will bring up a lot of the same recipes. I believe that you can only add…

You can do this on the desktop site, just not the app:

Totally depends on your current weight, height, and activity level. For some women, just under 2000 calories a day would have you losing weight without additional exercise, and for others it would be maintenance or even gaining. Keep in mind you burn a lot of calories merely existing each day.
-
Yup, I am quite satisfied with the MFP recipe builder, you have to be vigilant about confirming the entries you use, but it works!
-
@nnPT77 that's so cool! I'm going to have to keep an eye out!
-
I could have sworn this was already a Premium feature, I guess not...
-
@strong_fit_ells I have been on MFP for so many years and have never even used the trial. I don't need the features that it has (different calorie levels for different days, more customisation on macros, etc) and the barcode scanner is still working with free in Australia. I figure the database is exactly the same, so is…

Sorry! Sunday was 8266 :)

As others have said, I think anything claiming to do this is still at "gimmick" stage. Sure, it might get an idea of a divided plate with a steak, a baked potato, a pile of cut carrots and some peas, but how on Earth would it know what stir-fry sauce I used, or how much oil, or how much cheese is melted through my beans…
-
The best way is to interact on the community here, and join groups or challenges. The 'friend' function on MFP is a bit defunct these days, we used to have a personal newsfeed that we could post updates too, and would show when he weighed in and completed our diary, but they got rid of that about 6 months ago, so now…

An anti-inflammatory diet is just as, if not more, about what you don't eat as what you do. Food with anti-inflammatory properties won't do anything to offset the damage from you eating food that is inflammatory to you. Some people find they need to avoid nightshades, of which tomatoes and peppers are culprits, others need…

@ashleycarole86 steps for this week, still a bit hit and miss! M - 12092 T - 17330 W - 9396 plus 50 minutes taekwondo T - 14616 F - 5411 S - 6220 S - 5205 but I wasn't wearing my watch, so this was only what my phone picked up when I had it on me, also had an hour's swim.

Thanks all! It looks like I'm on the right path, somewhat, and it's just going to take patience and practice. I never thought I'd be struggling to relax, of all things! I am loving the yoga, I find it so refreshing. I'm only doing short morning flows at the moment, so I'm going to keep working up to longer ones.

It's because the carbs on labels in the UK are already net. American labels show total carbs including fibre, then the fibre number as a sub-entry, and so American users subtract the fibre to get net carbs UK labels, like Australian labels, list carbs and fibre separately, so the carbs listed are already net.
