I would take that with an enormous grain of salt. Brisk walking burns 100-200 calories depending on the person doing it. Even taking the 100, that would mean rebounding burns 600 calories in 30 minutes, or 1200 in an hour according to the instructor. That would put it well above the current commonly agreed highest burning…

I don't find that odd, I think people overestimate the interest doctors have in making you healthier. They're really there to treat you when you're sick, and get you back to baseline, it's a rare doctor with the knowledge, time, and vested interest to actually proactively work with you to improve your health to optimal.…

Oh, I also take Vit D because I'm chronically deficient, and I take Magnesium the evening after a workout to avoid the worst of DOMS, it's a lifesaver.
-
Complicating it even more is that in Australia and the UK, and possible other countries, carbs on nutritional panels are already net, so when people from those countries create foods and add the carb and fibre amounts, if the app is subtracting the fibre from the carbs for the 'net carbs' calculation, it's actually double…

Glucosamine and fish oil have done really good things for my joints, even my dodgy knee cartlidge. Collagen has done wonders for my nails and hair, and I hope is doing a little something maybe for my skin elasticity.

MFP just gives everyone the same macros, it doesn't customise them for you. Aside from the calculator which tells you how many calories to consume based on your sex, height, weight, and intended loss per week, MFP doesn't do any other calculations or goal setting for you. Maybe people go with the macros as they set, and…

That's just the standard macros that are assigned, you can tweak them to suit your needs. Personally I have 40% protein, and 30/30 Fat and carbs.

Another vote for the magnesium supplement, it worked for me and for my husband.

PW: 92kg CW: 90.5kg Huge loss! I know it's because last week when I weighed I was still all over the shop because of being in hospital and having intravenous fluids in my system. But huge milestone - I know I track in KG, but I'm aware of LBS and I AM UNDER 200LBS!! My weight in Lbs starts with a 1!!

Can you give some more information? I take it you have trouble falling asleep? How long has it been going on? Once you get to sleep, do you stay asleep? What's your environment like, noisy, calm, dark, light, quiet? Do you doze off on the couch etc? Happy to try and advise but some more information would be helpful, as one…

How many calories does that come to, and how does it fit your calorie goal for the day? Can you work out how to maybe add in some whole foods, maybe some vegetables in there? Are you just keeping a diary, or are you asking for feedback or advice?

With a history of ED, I strongly urge you to be speaking to your team through your program and aiming for slow, sustainable losses without worrying too much about an end date.

Ohhhhh yeah haha. If I am at all sore, I know I'm going to hate the number on the scale! But yes, our muscles retain fluid for repair and it shows up on the scale.

I don't see anyone being mean here at all. Factual and knowledgeable, but no meanness. Many of the people who are responding know the struggle incredibly well, and have learned so much, and are now sending that knowledge your way! The responses you have gotten are from people who have overcome all sorts of struggles and…

Steps last week :) Very low early on because I had norovirus and was completely out of action! Sunday: 8284 Monday: 1631 Tuesday: 1399 Wednesday: 5504 Thursday: 13270 Friday: 9245 Saturday: 12062

If I have any sort of DOMS, I have a jump on the scale. It's due to the retention of fluid for repair. It was disheartening at the start, but now I know to look for the ouch as an explanation haha.

Hi Barbara, yup MFP still has the free membership, only thing that might have changes since you were here last is that for the USA and some other members (not sure of the criteria), the barcode scanner is now a paid feature. Otherwise, everything that you used to get on the free membership is still here :)

Hey Caity! I'm an Aussie too, starting/highest weight was 123.2kg at the end of July 2024, I'm now weighing in at 91.1kg just sticking to my calories and being more active (walking/hiking/pilates). You sound like you're kicking butt, keep going!

Micki, I am so sorry your and so many others are going through this. I am Australian, but also a US citizen and I have a huge amount of family there and have lived there, and my heart is breaking. It's such a scary time. I have trans and LGBTI+ friends who are all having to face fear and uncertainty that no one should have…

In addition to the above, you haven't actually said whether you lost weight in the last few weeks, only that you weighed more than you thought at the doctor - presuming you were dressed, maybe with shoes (or not) having eaten, or drunk liquid that day... Do you have a comparison of weight from any time in the last few…

I was giving you advice, not saying that you're giving advice. As you may have picked up from the responses, losing more than 2lbs a week is very rapid, requiring a big calorie deficit, and generally won't happen consistently unless you're significantly overweight. If you're looking for healthy weight loss, first thing to…
-
There's healthy and easy, and then there's losing more than 2lbs per week ;) That's your first piece of advice!

Getting to know how to use your scale, using it all the time, and tracking accurately is going to be your biggest and best friend. Honestly, I really feel for you, and I don't know what changes you did make in the last 4 weeks, but if you'd taken the using a scale advice you were given then and implemented it, you might…

I'm down 70lbs since August 2024, and I know that a lot of the people at work, and even my own dad, all suspect I'm lying about not being on Ozempic or similar. Dad started taking it for his (wilfully and lazily) uncontrolled T2 diabetes and lost 20kg in quick order not having to make any conscious changes to his diet and…

Oh, absolutely, it's not as safe as pasturised, but it's not as stupidly dangerous as raw milk, either.
-
Sadly, yes. It just goes to show how ignorant they really are. Ironically, boiling it actually destroys a lot of the goodness, whereas pasturising (which is gently heating to a point nowhere near boiling) keeps that goodness intact. Their "fix" is not just beyond what pasturising does, it actually makes the milk even less…

Why wouldn't you take the money you're saving from dining out and do something other than sit and watch TV? Go to a class, take a walk, go to the gym, start pilates, or yoga, or dance - surely you can think of something to do other than say "well, we're not going out to eat, so I'll sit on my tukkas!" Instead of cruising,…

The only thing more facepalm worthy than the people schilling raw milk are the people schilling raw milk but making it safe by boiling it for a few minutes! FACEPALM.

I add veggies to everything. Mushrooms chopped and added to any meaty stewed dish double the bulk while adding very few calories. Grated zucchini in bolognaises, blended veg in sauces etc. You can add veg almost anywhere. I also use 50/50 riced cauli with regular rice if I'm having it, and mix 50/50 cauli and pasta for…

There is the capability to edit on Android. This app has it's issues, but this isn't one of them. The most common mistake is people trying to edit the recipe from the food diary section. You need to go to your recipe library: From the home screen tap more: Scroll to Recipes, Meals and Foods: Pick the recipe you want to…
