  • I wrote this in my blog years ago, about 12 months into a period where I lost over 80lbs and felt and looked better than I ever have. Now, I then had life come up and kick me around, and I'm starting from right back where I was, but I still stand by this, and have gone back and re-read it often, while I get myself back…
  • I love that a 'serving' of Vlassic pickles is half a pickle - because half a pickle is under 5 cal, so they can legally round it down to 0 calories, and that's a good selling point. Makes it look like pickles are a 0 calorie food.
  • Snap, I've got a medium term goal of 40kg loss, but ultimately I need to lose just over 50kg to see a "healthy" BMI. I'm a volume eater too, so I load my plate with veggies. It's not unusual for me to have close to a lb of vegetables with dinner! I also keep my carbs on the law side and eat a hefty serve of protein with…
  • I keep it really simple, choose my protein, choose a variety of non-starchy veg and some seasoning, dressing or sauce and just go with that. I do meal prep for lunches - this week is pork meatball, eggplant and zucchini curry. I winged it but basically pork mince mixed with various spices, rolled into balls and browned,…
  • I'm gonna be brutally honest here. My best friend was going to do a 5 day fast. On day 4, she got dizzy and fell down the stairs. She never woke up and now her organs are in other people.
  • I just tried it, I still have access.
  • Happy October!! My goal is as it has already been - no drinking on a work night *unless* there is an occasion/event (i.e. this Tuesday I'm out for a fancy belated birthday dinner at Japanese so there will be Sake).
  • A lot. The database is largely user entered and very, very often wrong. I double check all my entries before trusting them.
  • I've been scale shopping, and decided on the Withings. I was reading reviews and came across this gem:
  • welcome! Your journey sounds so very familiar, I too am a WWer from my teens, and honestly, I could have written your post with the different plans, the losing and regaining. I'm back for hopefully my last go :)
  • Birthday dinner! * Grilled lobster with lemon myrtle butter Seared scallops with miso butter Chilli lime and garlic prawns Smoked salmon on blini with dill and goats cheese Chargrilled baby octopus Chargrilled romaine with lime white balsamic reduction and toasted almonds Grilled corn on the cob with Old Bay seasoning Duck…
  • I can seriously get a whole gym membership for $29 a month. My mobile phone bill costs less than that.
  • So, the app just offered me a free month of Premium. After that month, they want $29 a month or $129 for a year (touted as a discount of 64% off the 'real' cost of $359. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA You've got to be f'ing kidding me.
  • Can I tell you how happy I am to see this post? It's not often that people try something extreme, stumble and actually say "that was a bad plan" rather than thinking they themselves are the issue. Good for you! I promise you, you can reach your goals without the crazy banana lady!
  • Don't let other people get you down!! You know you're kicking butt, and that's all that matters! Sometimes people don't want to say anything in case it's taken the wrong way. Also, you may be wearing the same clothes, so it's not as noticable? I gained a lot of weight during covid (as did many others!) and I'm working to…
  • Noy Ju-Jitsu, but I'm back at Taekwondo next Monday, after being off the mats for 5 years! I previously reached Co Dan Bo (provisional black belt) and it's time to go back and finish the job!
  • Not an hour after I made my post, I got a hamper delivered from my brother and SIL and it has a gorgeous bottle of bubbles, so it must be fate!
  • I guess the first question is - where would MFP get that information to include it as a metric?
  • So far this week I am Sun 25/9 to Wed 28/9 AF, as planned. Hubster has been having a few of an evening but aside from Wed, not anywhere near the usual level. Tonight is a challenge - it's my birthday and while I haven't planned any drinks, if I go home and he's magicked up a bottle of something nice and bubbly, I probably…
  • https://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Alatariel75/view?id=5-an-intro-to-al-1010950 My intro and history of why I'm here!
  • Are you maybe thinking juicing? Juicing removes a lot of the fibre and just leaves the juice, which is where the sugar is, so you get more sugar and less fibre. Juices can be a calorie bomb. Blending the fruit with all the bits you would have eaten it whole is no different to just eating it.
  • I only got one after I got serious about it! If you live somewhere that gets cold in winter, or is you have a basement that stays nice and cool, you can make it there - the traditional way never used a curing chamber!
  • Nope, I wasn't eligible apparently. I'm still trying to kick the cough!!
  • I do! I got into it a few years ago, and what was a small time hobby has become a bit of my *thing*. I now have a curing chamber, which at the moment holds about 12lbs of Hungarian Salami, 8lbs of Spanish Chorizo, and a half leg prosciutto that's been curing for about 8 months. Before Christmas I'm also going to make a few…
  • The database has been going for so many years that is is just chock full of wrong information, I double check everything and update. I use the Woolies and Coles sites too (hello, fellow Aussie!). Though even those sites aren't foolproof, I just noticed an anomaly on a Woolies item, and realised that when they put the…
  • I prefer to, especially as it saves dishes when I can drizzle straight onto a plate on the scale, but a lot of the time the information per weight isn't available, and while 1ml of water weighs 1gram the same isn't true for thicker liquids. Having said that, if you're using proper measuring spoons, then measuring liquids…
  • Greetings! How many 5% Challenges have you done? This will be my first! What do you like to do for fun? Video games, making my own salami and charcuterie, day trips, exploring What major city do you live in or near? State? Melbourne, Australia! What are you health/fitness goals for this season? Survive a term of Taekwondo…
