  • Oh honey, if I had an answer to that that worked, I'd be sitting on a private beach in the Caribbean, not hanging out on the MFP community page. There's no such thing as spot reduction. I personally, and your results may vary, do find that I lose a lot of tummy bloat, which gives the appearance of losing stomach mass, when…
  • Posting for accountability, and I'm once again sorry that I seem to be so "me, me me" in here and not great with interacting with others. I'm not having a good day today, I'm angry and tired and resentful and feeling hopeless and lost. I packed up some of my husband's stuff at lunch, just to feel like I'd progressed, and…
  • My husband was a type 3C diabetic - insulin dependant, basically the same as a type 1 in terms of results and treatment, but due to damage to the pancreas from chronic pancreatitis.
  • Ohhh good luck with your 5k!! Do you have a ParkRun nearby? I try and go every Saturday morning and my time has been improving just because of habit and competitiveness :)
  • I've felt a bit out of control this week, I have been weaning off the heavier medication I've been on for sleep and while that's going well, it seems to have sapped my willpower a bit and so the evenings have involved wine, and eating more snacks and treats than I should. I've still been hitting my steps and going to the…
  • That entry is for fried eggs and will include oil from the frying, you're better to track the eggs separate to any fat used for cooking. And in the absence of anything saying "non-" or "low fat" greek yogurt, I just went with how it comes naturally, which is about the same fat as eggs.

  • Oh true, if you're going for reduced fat. I always buy full fat and went off that.

  • PW: 81.3 CW: 80.5 So I've committed to going to the gym at lunch on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So far, so good but I'm sooooore haha. I need an epsom salt bath, I think that's on the cards tonight.
  • It's really frustrating and I've stopped responding to the one liner intros. If someone can't be bothered to open with at least a little bit of thought and effort, I can't imagine they're going to come back and engage. I think a lot of newer, younger users aren't familiar with the old school forum communities and treat it…
  • Egg whites have no fat. Whole eggs are no higher in fat than Greek yogurt.

  • 1lb a week is good, steady, healthy progress! Don't buy into the "lose 5lbs a week" stuff. You have health challenges, and you don't want to stress your body too much. If the scale is going down, keep doing what you're doing!
  • Probably not. It unlocks features and takes away the ads. Unless the ads are causing it to be buggy, it's going to be the same experience, the underlying platform is the same one.
  • Welcome :) I'm a former WWer too. Just remember that on MFP, everything has calories, there's no zero foods ;)

  • Woo, it feels good to be back on track :) I had a bittersweet NSV yesterday, I have these 2 really cute skirts that I've been holding onto, waiting to fit back into them and… I missed it haha. I missed window and they're too big, and they're not worth having altered. BOO!
  • I admit, for all that I get frustrated with the "sugar is as addictive as cocaine and is poison!!" rhetoric, I have to avoid straight up sugary foods, or I will just binge them til they're gone. It won't matter how sick I feel or if I don't really enjoy them, if they're there, they get eaten. But on the flip, I've got no…
  • Not to be dismissive of the good stuff MFP offers, but it's just not that smart. What it is is customisable. You can adjust your calorie and macro goals, your step goals etc in line with your needs but unless your needs are those of the average person, you're going to have to source that information from elsewhere and plug…
  • Thank you so much for your insights, all! @Lietchi it sounds like your skin and mine are quite similar, which is why I'm steeling myself to just having to put up with the sag haha. I guess the chips will fall where they may, and I can't undo rapid loss now (I'm not about to put it back on to fill the sag!) but it's hopeful…
  • I completely agree.
  • While I completely acknowledge that either of these extremes would be silly (though I wouldn't put it past some YouTuber to try) I'd actually be interested in who would be healthier, long term - the person eating their daily maintenance calories in only apples, or the person eating their daily maintenance calories in apple…
  • Thank you so much Ann! I should have known you would be all over this already, you're such a legend for the amount of work you put in to being informative and supportive here :) I'm reassured that you had noticeable tightening in the years after loss, I'm hoping for the same. Genetically, I have my mum's rather papery skin…
  • I stopped looking for motivation and seeing weight loss as something 'extra' and optional, and put it in the same basket as going to work, cleaning the bathroom, scooping the kitty litter etc etc. It's not an optional extra to get dropped when I get busy, or tired or CBF, it's a necessary part of my life if I want to have…
  • I was going to add - can you see an exercise physiologist? They're great for assessing your abilities and risks and advising a routine which will work for you.
  • I feel like you are taking some fairly complex, nuanced issues and trying to make them very black and white and contained to a couple of sentences, which actually isn't very helpful.
  • I just scrape in at 45 (for the next 3 months haha), I'm from Australia and to date I have lost 43.1kg/95lbs :)
  • Hiya, I have MS, I was diagnosed in 2016 after a bout of optic neuritis. I am lucky - I got my diagnosis very early when I hadn't sustained much damage and through treatment since then I'm maintained a pretty good level. I'm currently just past my first round of Mavenclad, and hoping that will work its magic for the next…
  • There's a hundred answers to this question, and "whatever you will enjoy" is my favourite, but I'm much like you, I was walking a lot and hiking, and then I also started running, and now I've mixed them all together and have started trail running. It's challenging and I just love it. It combines some of my favourite hikes…
  • Honestly, the one I'm going to enjoy and stick to. All the numbers in the world don't mean anything if I'm going to hate having to do it, or struggle to find time etc.
  • I'm not a fan, but I'm generally not at all a fan of this move to change web layouts to tablet/phone friendly layouts with lots of extra space etc. I'm a desktop user for a lot of things, and having to scroll and scroll irks me. I do understand why they do it, because that's where tech is going. My bigger issues are the…
  • https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/48663398/#Comment_48663398 It's temporary while they fix a bug.
in Thank You Comment by Alatariel75 June 25
  • It's not permanent. The official line is that they identified a 'bug' and will bring back the new look when it's fixed.
