Hello, newly joined here and looking for a team placement! Bit about me, if it helps - plenty of weight to lose, super unfit and just getting back into regular exercise (Taekwondo, in particular), just getting over Covid, chronic illness but not so impactful that it needs special consideration.

OK, I'm in. I have come back to this thread a few times, and clicked out again, because I'm scared to commit to a challenge because I'll feel bad if/when I flub it. But I am more dedicated that ever, and it helps that I am signed up to resume TKD classes commencing 3 October so this fits. I'd really like to show up to…

What are your specifications exactly? My husband is T1 and actually finds he needs his most carby meal at breakfast otherwise he tends to crash mid-morning.

Ooof, that has to be so frustrating! My tip is to cook veggies into things that might not otherwise have had them. Last week I made a big pot of chilli, but I used very lean beef, and a ton of butternut squash cubes, zucchini and mushrooms. They absorb all the flavour, and blend in really well. This can work with all sorts…

Thank you all! It looks like the consensus is that I'm not just making excuses - some people really do struggle to get moving in the mornings, and it looks like I'm one of them! I don't think it's a sleep thing, I get to bed around 10-10:30 on a week night and get up around 7. I do have a chronic condition that causes…

You can, just go to the "more" menu, and scroll down to "Community" :)

I have been an on and off member for more years than I care to admit. I first found MFP when I'd been off WW for a long time and didn't want to pay for it, plus I was frustrated with the meetings. When I first started MFP I was SO resentful of counting veggies (at the time only veg and fruit were 0 points). But once I got…

You don't both need to convert, there's a fair bit of overlap and where the ways of eating differ, you have tweak meals so hers fits hers and yours fits yours.

OK, so the long weekend didn't go to plan but I'm going to call it a success anyway. Thursday, as I said, we had unexpected guests who are 2 of my favourite people and so there was wine and celebration. Friday, my husband and I had a lovely day together which included some beers, but I did not over-do it, and didn't wake…

Yup, I'm on them intermittently (for migraine, not blood pressure so only take when needed) and my doctor told me straight up that they would make my legs feel heavier and my workouts harder.

13% fat, not too bad, only 4% sat fat. Decent whack of protein, not unreasonable carbs. Bit of sodium, but manageable within a daily intake, not a bad source of potassium. Good iron source! It's funny how meat, cheese, vegetables, bread and sauce/dressing in one context can beconsidered a salad and in another it's…

But the chocolates or the burgers? The everlasting question persists...
-
Sadly not, I find the recipe section really annoying for its very random categories and lack of searchability.
-
Amazing!!! It sounds like a wonderful challenge, too, might be just what I need...

Ugh, so the brother visit ended up in gin and wine, and today has followed on with beers (though a lovely, fun day with the hubster). Needing to dedicate myself to a booze free Sat/Sun - hubs is at least committed to a booze free Sun so we have a plan.

Congratulations! It's such a good feeling. I actually booked to go back to TKD after 5 years off, I reached Cho Dan Bo, then my club moved, and I moved, and gave it up. It's time to go back!

Risotto, if it is any good, is an absolute calorie bomb. Lots of butter, and primarily rice. With a rib eye, if you know the weight of the steak, you can log pretty accurately.
-
Have a read of this thread, it's very comprehensive and super helpful (though can be a little out of date, as there have been some visual changes to the interface): https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1234699/logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide/p1

Oh lordy, yes, this too. I had it late July and you're right - my limbs feel twice as heavy and it's only slowly getting better. Good point.

Warm roasted veggie salad with feta, baby spinach, balsamic glaze and topped with grilled pork ❤️

If you're looking for something warm and sweet, coring a small apple and filling it with raisins tossed in a bit of cinnamon and microwaving it til soft, then topping with some low fat custard is pretty good.

Sounds like you need to build up strength in those activities. If you've lost muscle tone since you did them (and losing muscle is almost inevitable when you're losing weight) then what you're actually feeling is that of not being as strong as last time you did it. Keep up with it, and maybe look into some strength…

In short, no. The database is crowdsourced and received minimal oversight from MFP. Even glaringly obvious green ticked entries that are reported and correct nutrition supplied go largely ignored. Until the changes and updated items filter through because users add them, you'll just need to keep checking them and adding…

I'm hovering over the poll, part of me wants to tick macros, part low carb, but neither have a huge amount of intention behind them. My plan is CICO. How I manage that is lower carb I guess, I exclude most grains, ie pasta, bread, rice - not because I'm deliberately trying to low carb but because I'm just generally not…

I was thinking the same, reading through. It's so interesting to see how much bad information was passed around in 10 year old threads.

Me: "I'm going to have a healthy, alcohol free long weekend" My brother, 500 miles away: "I feel a disturbance in the force. Better plan an immediate impromptu trip to Al's house!" Give me strength! Can't wait to see him and his partner, I'll cook so I can control food, but I expect that there will be some drinks on the…

I don't know if I posted this before, but there is this amazing licenced fromagerie in Melbourne called Milk the Cow. They do cheese and wine, it's their thing. I left my job of 6 years a few months ago and my amazing EA, who knows me too well, was in charge of my going away gift. She got me a voucher for 2 people for a 4…

I shared your concern, especially as OP is recovering from surgery.

How did they get your number from MFP, or am I missing something?
