You don't heed ".com" advice, but you'd take the advice from "myfitnesspal.com." Is the irony there intended, or. . . .?
-
Having read your opening post in the thread, I find your commentary on what you are 'trying' to do particularly confusing. I was under the impression that 'try' was a word you wished to eliminate.

By allowing you to read the article linked, along with the supporting evidence for the article, mostly.

Assuming the protein macros are met, why is eating a bag of Doritos to increase calorie count - as well as carbohydrate and fat macros - a bad thing? It's my general observation that those who are the most restrictive in the foods they're 'allowed' to eat upon embarking on calorie-counting at MFP are the ones who have the…
-
That's incorrect, assuming that you're using MFP's numbers and method. MFP's NEAT method gives you a built-in deficit and expects you to eat back your exercise calories.

The numbers check out.

Provided my language does not go against community guidelines, kindly refrain from trying to censor the way I choose to express myself.

Consider adding a bag of Doritos to your lunch or dinner.

Good luck to your friend. In theory, paying strict attention exclusively to limiting your sugar and carbs can create the caloric deficit generally required for sustained weight loss and nutrition (Atkins and Paleo are sort of variations on this theme); in practice, it seems like focusing in so tightly will miss out on…

Resistance bands again, from back in school. Two-person, feet-together opposed rowing with the bands. One hand lost its grip, the other rower got a resistance band to the groin.

I need this thread in the "My Topics" pile.

Those 'unrealistic' assertions are from personal experience.

Apparently that makes me not a person, because when I was choosing ramen, it was because I had a dollar with which to feed myself for the week. Thanks for dehumanizing me.

If you're finding decent complete protein sources for the same prices at which one finds pasta and ramen, I'd love to know where you're shopping. If you have a grocery list that can keep a family of four fed on truly healthy food for $12/week, I'd also like that breakdown, because I know I can make 'cheap' food choices…

Walking is my main form of exercise, though I have no idea why doing so in a fasted state would have any impact on its usefulness as a weight loss tool. Weight loss comes from caloric deficit. Walking burns calories. That seems simple enough.

While this is changing in what many consider an increasingly sedentary society, younger people are generally more active, making weight maintenance/loss somewhat easier for them than for older adults whose lives are generally more sedentary. Couple this with the statistical increase in movement-inhibiting factors like…

snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp Drinking too much water can, in rare cases, lead to dilutional hyponatremia, which can be fatal.

Try a more sustainable approach: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ It's entirely likely that all 3 of the above will give you marginally different results. Pick one, or average them all together. Please. You'll…

I generally prefer the mornings, simply because my motivation wanes as the day wears on.

You're welcome.

Not to be an enabler, but according to the folks who run the tour of the Ben & Jerry's factory, any store that carries any flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream can order any of their extant flavors; you just have to be willing to purchase a sleeve of (if memory serves) 4 pints (it may be 8).

I'm guessing you'll be able to count the 'nays' on the fingers native to one kneecap.

It is apparently difficult to perv a deep-fried sandwich.

Just making sure, here, but your doctor doesn't look like this, does she?

Waffles with strawberries and dark chocolate melted on them.

Unless your doctor, or the person you see in the mirror, is the one telling you that you need to gain or lose weight, just smile, nod, and ignore them.

It's highly unlikely that a high carb, low protein diet would 'draw fire from the IIFYM people,' since the basic premise there is "If It Fits Your Macros." A low protein diet fails to hit adequate protein macros for most people, almost by definition.

I have been there. Let your professors know you're dealing with depression, if you haven't already. Talk to the school, as writergeek313 says, to find out what accommodations are already available to you. Take advantage of them. Depression is a real disease. Don't let it - or anyone else - tell you differently. For myself,…
