So me and my friend were talking diets the other day and she says she doesnt even LOOK at the calories of each food, rather pays attention to only the sugar and carbs.
Is she right? Is she wrong? I was a little thrown off by this approach but I want to see what you all think...

I suppose it depends what diet she is doing.
If she is eating low carb/high fat then that might be quite likely, as she may have her eating habits under control naturally, without having to count calories.
Either way works. It just depends on what floats your boat. smile:0 -
I don't think there is a "right" or 'wrong". If someone is able to control their diet except for sugar, then this approach may be all they need to lose weight. They still must have a calorie deficit, but some can get that without counting calories if they eliminate a food(s) that they have a problem overeating.0

Good luck to your friend. In theory, paying strict attention exclusively to limiting your sugar and carbs can create the caloric deficit generally required for sustained weight loss and nutrition (Atkins and Paleo are sort of variations on this theme); in practice, it seems like focusing in so tightly will miss out on important nutrients or wind up with varying degrees of too much/too little food to sustain healthy weight and macros.0

? What nutrients will you miss out on by reducing sugar and other carbs (not including veggie (both atkins/Paleo) or fruit (paleo).0
