  • It definitely works and you don't realize that you are burning as many calories as you really are. Get a HRM (if you don't have one) and you will be amazed.
  • I have a similar injury and time to time it gets tender. I usually go at a slower pace during cardio and keep my arm folded against my chest to stabilze the shoulder. Everyone else's comments are good to just focus on the lower body muscles which are the larger ones and will help keep your metabolism going
  • Ice, rest and stretching are the only things that help me. Also pay attention to how you are running or doing cardio, you may be on the balls of your feet too much and that could be causing the strain. I would also get the additional insoles that provide more shock support....that is what I do
  • It happens, you are probably over-exerting yourself. I don't eat before a cardio workout for at least two hours to make sure I don't get nauseated. Is it possible for you to do the taebo and then eat?
  • I have a lot of stress too and it is hard for me to lose weight. I just keep working out and trying to eat well so that way it at least I don't have that added to my stress levels. I agree that you need to set aside me time and try to ignore the people who are negative
  • Hi, I am a Zumba instructor so I will try to help the best that I can. Are you taking the classes with the same instructor or different ones? Each instructor has their own spin on the steps and the intensity. Also since you are getting a hang of the steps you are probably naturally putting more effort into the routines,…
  • The best thing about Zumba is you always go at your own pace, whether it is through the game console, DVDs, or class. Take breaks when you need them and always have plenty of water. I would suggest getting a heart rate monitor if you don't already have one, you will be amazed at how many calories you burn and having so…
  • Don't throw in the towel at all. 3 lbs is a great start! When you only have a small amount to lose it takes much longer, the joys of a woman's metabolism! Try avoiding certain foods after 4 or 5 pm like whole grain pasta, carrots, bananas. All of these are great for you but it takes a long time for our bodies to digest…
  • I think the dress is very nice and you don't look like a rhino or any other animal from Africa! Take a deep breath and you are doing great
  • Good luck and don't let it get you down
  • Thanks everyone! I am staying pretty close to my net calories, I customized my food diary to be at 1250 calories since I am weight-lifting. I drink at least a gallon of water a day but I may have some hidden sodium. I have been working out for years but my job is very stressful and my body is just holding onto that weight.…
  • Hi, the DVDs are great just take your time and have fun. I am an instructor and I have all levels in my classes and they all laugh and have a blast. One tip, since you have a dance background make sure that when you are doing the DVDs or taking a class that you don't spend the whole time on the balls of your feet (like you…
  • Thank you for sharing, it is very easy to convince yourself that eating less will keep you on track. I went through similar experience and needed a trainer to get me on the right track. Sounds like you are doing great now and it is fun to be able to have to those little cheats when we need extra calories
  • Go for it, the tat is awesome. I got my last one late 2009 and I exercised that night just kept it covered and if I felt the skin tighten I would slow my pace down
  • This is a hard one because we all get so focused on the daily intake. Honestly I have learned that if you eat right 5-6 small meals about 80-85% of the time you don't have setbacks when we hit the greasy foods. While I do agree that eating one huge portion a day is not healthy they are at least tracking it. The most…
  • I agree the HRM will be the most accurate. For my classes I average about 818 calories in an hour but that is based off my heart rate. I entered ZUmba in as a custom exercise. Based on your heart rate and level of activity in the class you should burn anywhere from 400-900 calories in the hour. Let me know if you have any…
  • I wouldn't add anything either maybe just put in the notes that you were very sick so you can still track your daily progress. If you can try to eat some crackers. Feel better
