  • I don't want to shame others for their 1,200 kcals a day, but it seems ridiculous to me. They are probably doing the guided goal-setting and selected "lose 2 pounds a week." I've been doing keto and eating 1600+ and have lost 1-2 pounds a week. The 1200 calorie people seem uninformed. Feel free to add me.
  • Wow, frob23... I don't know what I'd do if other teachers expected me to make them food like that! Probably chicken out. Good for you for sticking to keto. I wasn't on keto during TAW this year, but I was eating healthier and losing weight nonetheless. We had doughnuts three days in a row. Even the teachers who eat…
  • I've been on both sides of this issue--(1) not wanting to eat the snacks and (2) eating them while wondering why others aren't partaking (then judging them in my head). It's hard to say no, especially when it's for social reasons. You don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and you don't want to be isolated from the group. I…
  • Thanks. My goals are custom after reading about TDEE and BMR, but I think I calculated it using "light activity" but your comment made me realize that that gives me more calories on top of the exercise calories, which would be a surplus. I fixed it, tough it's only an 89 calorie difference.
  • Good for you! It's not a contest between you and everyone else, but between you and yourself! Some days I count just getting off my butt and moving as a success. Best of luck to you with your fitness endeavors!
  • Yeah, good point. Sometimes I get afraid that I won't be able to work out as hard as usual and gain weight.
  • Wow, I'm such an airhead. I didn't think to ask my trainer! To be fair, he doesn't live in the area anymore, but we're Facebook friends and I can still ask his advice, lol.
  • Yeah, you're right. But I find that it's easier for me to control the situation once I've been on the wagon for a little while. I fell off the wagon recently, so I've only been eating well/exercising regularly again for the past month. Maybe I should talk to my friends about it. It's just embarrassing, and I don't want to…
  • It doesn't seem like you're giving yourself many options if you say you're too crunched for time to cook for yourself before you go to his house to spend time with him. That seems like the best idea and what I usually did before my boyfriend and I moved in together. You could always eat smaller portions at his house or try…
  • I totally understand this. I did the 30DS last year, but stopped because my live-in boyfriend was home too often (we were both in grad school at the time--lots of at-home work). I did 30DS a few times when my boyfriend was at school, but the workout was honestly really hard for me and I quit. Now that I've been in the gym…
  • This is so maddening to me as well. I don't have answers, I just searched for this topic to find them myself. I decided to weigh myself on Fridays and to record that weight, but I admittedly weigh myself every day. On Wednesday, I weighed 2 pounds less than my Friday weight, but I didn't record it because I KNEW it would…
  • Is Clarice coming for dinner?
  • You are extremely pretty in your before pics. You look good at both sizes, but congrats on your weight loss. :drinker:
  • Great job! If you have worked that hard and have the discipline, cake is not a big deal. Good for you.
  • Totally agree. You can't expect a message board to be considerate (being totally serious here). Add some friends and post a status or send a message.
  • Haters gonna hate. Good job being so young and mindful of your health. I gained most of my weight after high school. EVERYONE on here knows how hard it is to start this journey. Keep up the good work, and don't let a slip-up stop you from being healthy in the future. Accept your failures, learn from them, then move on.
  • I just had to laugh at the title of this post! At least you're being realistic in your expectations. I added blueberries and Gorgonzola to my salad today, which typically includes spring mix, almond slivers, and turkey/chicken breast.
  • I still have a problem with overeating, but I've found that restricting doesn't help. I aim to eat as healthy as possible, but I never make it a point to restrict foods. I avoid stuff like ice cream most of the time, but I don't tell myself "YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT!" Maybe there's a fine line between avoiding and restricting,…

  • I'm 5'7 and about 193lbs. I started MFP at 197, but my highest has been 222. Feel free to add me.
  • I'm adding you! Is that your classroom in the background of your photo? lol
  • I definitely feel this way from time to time, too. I treat it like I treat my anxiety and depression: one day at a time. For me, stuff like that comes in waves and normally passes within a day. I'm not saying to throw yourself a pity party, but allow yourself to feel the way you feel and try not to be too hard on yourself.…
  • Thanks! He usually takes my measurements monthly, but I wanted to see what happened over the holidays. I was worried that I gained weight, which I technically did.
  • Definitely! So will the number on the scale go down after a few days of a low-sodium diet? I am a little ignorant as to how water weight works. But thanks for the response!
  • I'm 5'7" (technically 5'7.5") and I weigh 187 and wear a loose 14
  • The times are hard. It could just be that someone else has more experience. It sucks, I know. Do you have retail experience? Do you know anyone who works at a liquor store? Networking is a huge thing when finding a job. My parents owned a bookstore and it still took me 3 months to get hired at a corporate bookstore! It…
  • This is true. Odd sizes = juniors and even = women. Junior clothing is often made differently, too. For instance, Xhiliration and Mossimo Supply Company's pants are generally more low cut than the women's brands, Merona and Mossimo Black. In tops, I will fit into an XL juniors while a medium fits in womens.
  • It took me 5lbs to go from size 16 to size 14.
