  • I feel full of air, but not in a gassy sort of way. Just like a giant balloon and my clothes don't fit as well. I can also tell when it's hard to suck in.
  • Someone put a Post-It on my back that read "wide load" and they made beeping sounds like a truck backing up. Then again, that was middle school. My ex used to say he was proud of me for losing weight (60lbs) but I still needed to lose more and tone. Sounds semi-supportive, but in reality he was pretty abusive during the…
  • Can I ask you how much you weigh now that you've lost weight and running has gotten easier for you? I started to run, but I know that being overweight (190lbs at 5'7) makes it harder. Just wondering about how much I need to lose before running doesn't suck as much!
  • Congrats! It's a great feeling. =D
  • Congrats! Your starting photo is gorgeous too, though.
  • Try getting a Brita bottle. That definitely helped me drink more, knowing that I can fill it with tap water. Or get the Mio and low/no cal drink mixes. Also, exercise your BUTT off and you'll definitely want water!
  • Brandon Lee (RIP) Joseph Gordon-Levitt....I'll refrain from being creepy and posting pics of him when he was a kid. But when he was 14 and I was 10 I thought he was HOT! Taylor Lautner with...you guessed it...hair! (the only reason to see Twilight) I'm glad others share my love of hairy men.
  • Unrelated but nice user name. I just watched that episode of Parks and Rec tonight, lol.
  • I didn't see all the photos but got to page 10 or so and realized I have a different taste in men I guess. I totally dig long hair and don't really care about muscles. Also, I love grunge. Chino Moreno Young Keanu Brendan Fraser *before* he started losing his hair Shannon Hoon (RIP) Trent Reznor, 90s edition Anthony…
  • Lifestyle. I lost 60lbs in the past by "dieting" and put most of it back on. I also never exercised until now. I don't restrict foods, I just control my portion sizes and eat in moderation. I'm now addicted to fitness, which is a complete 180 for me. When I hear "diet" used as a term of short-term eating habits in order to…
  • Work out with her and eat well in front of her. Parents are the ultimate mentors and models. Good luck!
  • I keep hearing success stories after people exercise more, eat more, and eat their exercise calories back. Maybe you should raise your calorie range and/or eat your exercise calories back. Good luck.
  • It's necessary for people to know results from scientific studies rather than anecdotal evidence, yes. But I agree. I've cut down my diet soda consumption. They're chemically engineered ingredients. I don't see the point in consuming artificial sweeteners if there are alternatives or if you know how to control your…
  • True, ninerbuff, true. Go to your local library or university to access their databases in order to find academic studies on these topics. WebMD and Livestrong.com aren't academic sources, sorry.
  • I stopped drinking diet soda last week because I thought the artificial sweeteners were increasing my appetite, but then I just read this: "Aspartame is a well-studied sweetener whose safety is clearly documented and well established through extensive laboratory testing, animal experiments, epidemiological studies, and…
  • It took me 6 weeks before I started to see any weight loss, but I had some NSVs like my jeans fit better. You have to persevere and remind yourself that even though you aren't seeing results exactly when YOU want them, it doesn't mean you're not making big strides. Hang in there and don't look for a quick fix because in my…
  • Your diary isn't available for the public to view.
  • This is very true! I experience this with school work, lol! Think about it way too much before I even start.
  • Great resource, thanks!
  • Thanks for the feedback! It just dawned on me that I wore a pair of thinner, tighter running socks today for the first time instead of the more padded ones I usually wear. I think the mystery is solved!
  • Awesome job! You had great arms at 190lbs! I'm at 192 and I've always had a problem with big arms. My family does in general. =/
  • I used to go on the elliptical for an hour 4x a week. My iPod playlists got boring, especially since I could predict the amount of time that would elapse with each song (I cover the timer with a towel). I listen to moderately-paced music so I wouldn't get too pumped and go too fast thus tiring more quickly. Also, I started…
  • Wow, that's great! I go to manage anxiety, mostly. I always thought the breathing techniques were bull until I tried them...they work! And my counselor was one reason that I started to exercise regularly as well. Working up a sweat DEFINITELY allays anxiety and worry.
  • I hate that too! I almost want to tell the doc next time: "Can you please not weigh me? I know it will say that I weigh 3lbs more here than it did this morning after I peed!" Defeats my self-confidence a little, I admit! Good luck with your weight loss, OP. I feel you.
  • I'm in education, but I've done research on mental illness and how to raise awareness among adolescents and their peers through young adult literature. Hooray for mental health!
  • Just FYI if anyone is looking for counseling on a tight budget with no insurance: Look up places in your area that offer sliding scale fees to people with low(er) incomes. I have access to my university's counseling center, but I used to go to Catholic Charities (note: it's not affiliated with the church). I paid $15 a…
