Well, my legs are sore today, so that's a good sign! I was able to do almost all of the warmup, except the spiderman climb/reach thing. And I guess I couldn't reach for some of the other things, but it didn't matter that much. I'm going to have problems with the core things for a while, since I can't hold myself in a plank…

Yep, Supercharged is much more flexible. Instead of doing a specific exercise during each stage, you pick one from a particular category (for example, 'hinge' moves, which include the deadlift). Each category has a range of exercises of varying difficulty. I did my first workout this evening, and I'm pretty happy so far. I…

Yup. BWM was eeeviiill. Which means I should probably do it every now and then. Ugh.

I'd love to know what kind of substitutions you've been doing, thenewbritt. I met with a new physical therapist. He seems nice, but as usual, it seems like he doesn't really know much about weight lifting. He was very leery of me trying to 'do too much' at the gym. He promised to look up the program, though, and I think I…

I'm in Tucson too. Feel free to friend me if you like (although fair warning, I'm away from my computer a lot during the summer). Congrats on starting your fitness journey!

I finished NROLFW a while back, and just started SL 5x5. The answer is, it depends. NROL has a lot of variety -- there are multiple stages, and you do different things, and there are many exercises that are variations of one another. I started with it because I enjoyed the idea of learning a bunch of new stuff and having a…

You can not love the way Yo looks, or the way I look, or the way anyone else looks, without having issues. However, there is (hopefully) a difference between what you think in your private brain, and what you actually say or write. And when someone enters a thread where it is clearly and unequivocally stated that the OP…

I think the this to do is politely let 'em know you are waiting by asking how many sets they have left. Sort of amusing story: I had to do this yesterday. We have 3 squat racks, but they were all in use. I went up to the middle guy, who was doing shrugs with, like, 4 45-lb plates on each side, and asked how many sets he…

Wow. Your progress is just fantastic, and add me to the list of those who are happy to see you promoting the art of pacing oneself. I wish you plenty of great adventures!

Thank you for the link. That was a very good read. Yo, I love your answer about your best body part.

Wow, she really looks incredible. And I love her trophy :)

I sometimes use a Smith machine. For pullups. Good for you. I bet you will enjoy the Y!

I started lifting in late September '12, so it's been a little more than seven months. The numbers are what I can do for at least 2 sets of 6-8 reps. I'm about 127 lbs, 5'4". 1) starting bench press? current bench press? how long have you been doing bench presses? I haven't been bench pressing, but I progressed from…

Mcbwhitney: Gorgeous gams. Hubba hubba!

I just found her blog, and she is awesome. As for the OP, yep yep yep!

I did 7-3 yesterday, and yes, doing the circuit properly helped. I was ridiculously excited to be deadlifting again! Actually, at the end of 7-2 I had some time to kill while I was waiting for my boyfriend to finish his workout, and I tested to see what I could deadlift for a single rep max. I lifted more than my own…

OK, I added you.

So I just did 7-1. Ugh. I'm not loving the high rep, low rest count thing. I'll have to back down on weights in order to do it, and that's mentally frustrating. I've been able to do a full pushup for every stage since the end of 1, but I can't if I have to do 15 in a row 4 times. But part of my problem is that I did the…

OK, I'm finished with stage 6 now. I was having some hand/shoulder issues, so I'm not sure I got everything out of the B workouts that I could have. My left hand has grip and numbness problems, and something hinky is going on with my right shoulder. Oh well. I'm looking forward to 7. I like getting back into the…

Legs. Butt. A hint of abs. That about covers it for me.

I'm 5'4", and the least I weighed in my adult life was 117. That was when I was running 20+ miles/week. If you are anything like me, then exercise is more of a driver for weight loss than diet (not necessarily from a calorie viewpoint, but at least in terms of motivation). I'm currently about 127 and losing at a very slow…

If you can't do the negative chin-up for 20 seconds, just keep working on increasing your time until you can. I'm starting at an advantage relative to most women on this program, because I had a goal of being able to do a chin-up a few years back, and so I built a lot of upper body strength working on that. And the number…

Yes! And the best news is that, I doubt she's going to be the last. Democrats have finally learned that marriage equality is not political suicide!

I gained about 4 pounds during stage 1, and didn't start losing until about stage 3. I think it was mostly water retention, plus maybe a bit of newbie muscle gain, because I didn't change size at all. I decided to judge my progress based on my 'tight pants' rather than my scale, and that kept me from worrying too much. My…

This is a tough problem, because you already understand logically that manliness has nothing to do with diet. It's not a matter of reasoning. You're worried that your friends will make fun of you , or think less of you, for making healthy choices. Well, that sounds to me like the issue has less to do with 'manliness', and…

Hee. I love you guys.

I am a big ol' nerd, it's no secret! I came out of the nerd closet in high school and never looked back. Now I have a nerdy job that I love, and my friends are all awesome nerds. Nerd is the new cool, as far as I'm concerned. And if it's not, I don't care. :)

I'm not obese and I find all of those exercises challenging (can't quite do a pistol squat yet, but I'm close). Yeah, seems like pretty basic physics that the more you weigh, the harder these will all be ... but the upside is that when you can finally do them, you know you will be proportionately stronger, which is cool.…

Mine's open, but I'm not really getting everything consistently right. My priority is to get my protein as close to the goal as possible, but I struggle with that most of the time. Still, you can look if you want.

I just did my first stage 6 workout yesterday. Short but sweet! The reverse pullups were no problem -- I'm going to have to add weight. :) The split squat is tough on my trailing foot. I feel like I need to work on ankle flexibility for those.
