So I honestly dont know how many of you live in the Washington DC/MD/VA area but unfortunately most people around here have to carry debt and are pretty much living paycheck to paycheck because of the cost of living in the area. In addition, most of us work for a government entity. Let me tell you, this crap is for the…

So i'll be staying in a hotel with a pool (can't swim) and a gym, traveling alone, might have access to a grocery store but not 100% sure, and food is hotel for breakfast, work cafeteria for lunch, and i'm using the "happy hour" at the hotel appetizers for dinner. I am planning on packing some protein powder, trail-mix,…

You could do the same thing if you like to have them for breakfast. Make them with eggs and veggies.

When I first began running I had really bad IT pain. In order to avoid issues I visited an orthopedist who recommended I get personal orthotics. That got rid of my issues. However, during one of the 1/2 marathon expo's i was talking to a running store shoe guy who said that if i had been using the ASICS Kayano's rather…

The hardest part is the first step. I began by walking more than 3 miles...then slowly moved up to jogging for a couple of months....then run. I hate the clunkyness of a smart phone so ipod and cool music.

NOT AT ALL!!!! Follow a training plan and stick to it! I trained for mine about a total of 6 months or so but only did "hardcore" training for about 2 possibly 3. My goal was to finish in under 2:45 and I am proud to say I finished both (within a week of each other) at under 2:30!

I was told by the orthopedist that my issues with the IT band also came from pronating my feet when I ran. So in addition to everything everyone else has said...I now run with orthotics in my Asics Nimbus or Kayano's. They are more of a "stability" shoe and I can definitely feel the difference. There are also some…

count me in...i need to RE-focus!!

Asics Nimbus for both short and long runs....LOVE THEM! I do use orthotics in them and the ppl at the running store noted that I should be using the Kayano's instead as they provide more support. I used to be a Nike girl...no more. Thinking of trying some others so recommendations are welcomed!

OMG! THANK YOU for putting some sense in here! It amazes me the kind of prejudice and ignorance we have going around in the world! Do your research before you type!

I am currently paying for a gym membership for my husband and I and in the last two months we have given them $80 for free....soon to be cancelled. You can totally do it at home for 1/2 the cost! if you need supporters feel free to friend me Good Luck !

One of my gf's and her husband are doing that one too! They have one in the same area in Sept "Divas Half" that we will also be doing. I just did the Titanium Girl challenge (ran a half in Columbia, MD and then the Frederick half a week apart). My training was time based rather than miles and the longest distance I ran was…

Had never been a runner but last year something fueled the desire to do something i had never accomplished. Just finished 2 half marathons (within a week of each other) and UNDER the time goal I had set for myself. I hate the heat so I will continue to run as much as weather permits as I am planning on running a…
