Umm, calories are unhealthy? Sodium is unhealthy? I'm pretty sure scientists wouldn't actually use that description. And after looking at the study, I don't see the word "unhealthy" in there. What a surprise that a media outlet would lie/sensationalize to get more hits. (But readers keep rewarding the behavior so they will…

That's why the good models have a built-in fan.

Yep. Find the things you're willing to sustain for life and you won't yoyo anymore. :)

I find putting forth an honest effort to be infinitely more productive than waiting for miracles.
-
Not even close to unreasonable. And I saw the same thing when I was in the AF.
-
Exactly! This is why I said it depends.

Depends on the purpose/goal of your rest day. But I can think of very few contexts where "casually walking on stairs" is going to be counterproductive.

Which sickness or injury prevents one from adjusting their caloric intake if their weight is going in a direction they don't want it to?
-
This. I don't even understand the point of asking for studies to show if moderation works. It would be like asking for studies about quitting smoking to prove that cold turkey works or that slowly weaning off of them works. People succeed both (and other) ways... a study isn't gong to tell you which one is best for you,…

How does thinking of your country burn calories?
-
When you chose to eat too much candy instead of eating it in moderation, you gained weight. Moderation works, not moderating doesn't. Your interpretation is backwards.

Since you've asked for references, please supply examples of these "regardless of dietary issues" cases.

Here's two more statistics for you: 100% of people who eat under their TDEE lose weight. 100% of people who eat at their TDEE maintain their weight. I find these far more useful and relevant.

Been there done that for decades, blegh! Reading usually puts me to sleep pretty quickly. I've also found that getting several minutes of lots of very bright sunlight (or similar artificial light) after waking up helps make it easier to get to sleep at the end of the day. As well as getting rid of any light sources…

The harder you work, the luckier you get.

My body thinks. It uses its brain to do this. :)

If she's logging accurately, she already has that data (350 calories/day) and there's no need for a calculator. Start a lifting/strength/resistance training program and you can have your very own muscles. :)

Because your body fat can only release its stored energy so quickly. If you are creating demand higher than that amount, the extra energy does not come from fat. You don't want that energy to come from cannibalization of your muscles, organs, etc.
-
At 1 lb per 10 days you're eating about 350 calories below your TDEE and losing at a reasonable rate.
-
Just because you don't think it's helpful doesn't mean nobody else will. A lot of times what's needed is a change of perspective. Case in point.

Stop eating peanut butter even though you're not hungry. Also do not eat once you've reached your daily calorie goal.

I actually enjoyed smoking and would have much preferred being able to continue doing it every day in smaller amounts. I did so for a while and doing less of it was a lot easier than giving it up completely.

But what are the odds for people who spend all of their time and energy searching for excuses to fail?

Thousands of studies done, and not a single one of them shows any sort of cause/effect relationship with breakfast to anything at all. Why do you suppose that is?

I just want to know how fiber revs your metabolism.

I just do things I like. You don't "forget" or have to trick yourself into doing the things you enjoy.
