I can't speak for anyone else but mine changes (from heel to toe) as I go from my slowest run speed to a full out sprint. Although when my heel is hitting first it's not slamming into the ground, it's more like the weight gets evenly distributed as my foot "rolls" across the ground.

In Soviet Russia people used to wait in line for 16 hours just for some bread. Imagine how good that bread must have been! They must have been going around to their friends like, "did you have the bread? Oh, try the bread!"

YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO EAT!

But breast milk doesn't contain fiber! No wonder we're all sick, we've been poisoning our babies from the day they're born!

Breast milk contains POISON!

Have there been famines in these populations within first world nations shortly before they started having obesity problems? How is this relevant? It's not only obvious which factors changed (availability of excess calories and ability to get away with extreme laziness) but these factors applied to the way we know the body…

In order for genetics or epigenetics to even be applicable or relevant here, there would need to be people somewhere whose observed TDEE was way lower than expected without any other explanation. Lots of them.

Person A and B both get $600 a month in spending money. Person A spends $20 per day each day on toys. Person B spends $10 per day on toys and at the end of the month spends the other $300 on a big ticket toy. Clearly person A is the "strong" one and person B is doing it wrong. Right guise?

Holy crap, dude! My highest day since I started tracking 2.5 years ago was about 4500 and I was struggling to even hit that.

A few decades ago there weren't really very many obese people. The genetics of people in developed nations didn't just suddenly change in the last few decades. It's the fact that we now have easy access to as much highly caloric food as we want and little reason to do things that burn extra calories. Since that…

What about a gay dude? Should all his MFP friends be female? And I guess anyone who's bi shouldn't have any online friends. That must suck.
-
I've sent out maybe 2 or 3 FRs ever. I've accepted every one I've received except maybe one. And the majority of my friends are female. I've had quite a few younger ones on here, and quite a few of them seem to FR me after I say something reasonable/useful/funny on a friend's wall. I think what matters is not how many of…

Don't forget, this is the same forum where it's widely believed that if you drop some tea leaves into a glass of water, the water stops being water.

Who doesn't already love despair? Those posters are hilarious!
-
So if I eat 2000 calories a day, some of it being sugar, and my body burns 2500 calories in the course of that day, you are saying that my body will end the day having more fat than it started with?
-
It's always entertaining when someone who has never had success is telling the people who have had success that they're doing it wrong. Even funnier when the reasoning is backed up by woo.

Gibs are a good source of protein.
-
Yep, this. If I run 3 times a week, 6 miles each time, I will burn on average a little over 300 calories a day from about 3 hours a week of exercise. Meanwhile, just getting outside to mow the lawn and other yard work or just walking around and playing with the kids, etc, I can burn an extra 700 calories per day compared…

Why does nobody mention increasing NEAT? Exercise is fine and dandy and I get lots of it but still the vast majority of fluctuations in my TDEE come from NEAT.

But what if someone shoots themselves in the head or is involved in a tragic blimp accident or the whole solar system gets destroyed by a black hole? Then nutrition doesn't matter. So saying nutrition matters is false because I can come up with ridiculous counterexamples. Right?

I love how none of these strawman-throwing people ever suggest eating only broccoli. It would kill you way more quickly than eating only pop tarts.
-
Sorry, not buying it. They have weight standards and 180 lbs is way out of range at the 5'4" being thrown around here.
-
Aside from other things already mentioned, it depends on your risk/reward tolerance and how much injuries matter or don't matter to you.
-
Maybe those other cultures should all stop being so rude and read THE guidelines.
-
LOL. Poe's Law strikes again.
-
So you think the earlier poster's family was right to completely ignore her 150 lb loss and pretend like they didn't notice? And what "the" guidelines are you talking about? Citation please.
-
Right, so she's totally fine with thinking that looks are important, even virtuous, and it's just swell to treat people differently based on their "looks" and she just wants to redefine what everyone likes so she fits in the "good" category.

Just wait for the mindful seeing movement where everyone casts down their glasses and millions die in car crashes. And the "healthy at any number of packs per day" movement.

December 25th isn't even a fact. The calendar is just made up. Stop trying to shove your fascist timekeeping constructs down everyone's throat.
