Right. But what "looks good" is an opinion and a function of personal preference. Being offended that someone thinks "x looks better than y" still attaches a value judgment to "looking good" which is the very thing she's complaining about. Best I can tell her proposed solution is to attempt to redefine everyone else's…

I think the argument being made by the blogger is that looking good/better is an artificial social construct that is unfair to those who don't fit the arbitrary criteria. I could see how someone could argue the above. (However I would argue that the above is irrelevant and the unfair part would be treating people…

How do you know I recognize your time system? Maybe in my world it's evening.

It's a bit sweeter than regular milk. (I actually like it better.) My wife describes it as being like the milk you have left in a cereal bowl after eating sugary kids cereal. :)

You could have let them know the topic was ok to discuss by bringing it up first.

The reason behind her objection is that she (supposedly) believes being less fat is not an improvement.

I know! After I quit smoking someone asked me if I'd quit smoking, so naturally I pushed them into a rack of dumbells!

Ok. Lots of dairy contains little or no lactose. You can either find things that are lactose-free or you can buy lactase pills (IIRC they're about 25 cents per pill) and take one whenever you eat things with lactose in them. (This is the enzyme naturally produced by the body to digest lactose.) I had to learn which things…

Lactose intolerance is very different from an allergy. Which do you actually have?

Try logging. However much you are eating now, that is maintenance. Eat less than maintenance.

I've never seen a BMR calculator that included any sort of adjustment for post-menopause, or number of pregnancies.

I'm 45 and no crash here. However my metabolism* was horrible in my late 30s. * If "metabolism" means "activity level."

That thing doesn't make any sense. If every day were like today then I'd wake up every morning weighing exactly the same amount. I could even kidnap a groundhog and drive off a cliff with it and still wake up the next morning like none of it happened.

Explaining yourself sends the message that it is their business and rewards their behavior. So either stop discussing it or start taking bets.

I had bought into the low-carb crap. Glad I figured that one out.

No clue what any of this is about or why it matters, but if you google your MFP username the first thing that comes up is your profile on some other site. If you don't want anyone on site A to know things you've publicized about yourself on site B then use a different username on the two sites.

Yet you (and others) still insist that eating "clean" somehow results in improved performance. So how much time do you think could I take off my 5K if I ate 400 calories of carrots before instead of 400 calories of twix bars?
-
When one eats only certain foods, and then switches their diet to include other foods, their body generally reacts badly to this change. You're just taking a biased view of this bigger phenomenon. Sorry but it doesn't support your worldview.
-
Here's two questions that might help you find your answer: 1- Can you meet your body's needs for vitamins, minerals, and energy without eating exclusively "clean" foods? 2- Do you become "even more healthy" by eating even more vitamins and minerals than your body needs? (Or to phrase it more simply, does your body need…

Actually, no, I've never seen a case where any of these people turn out to actually eat as much as people think they do.

Of course it's the wrong decoder ring. This isn't the Little Orphan Annie forum. Now get out, Randy's gotta go!!!
