  • It's easy to let happen, no worries. I'm back for Phase 2 (3rd attempt) myself ;-) I've done ok with keeping the weight off but Phase 2 for me is all about achieving a desired level of muscle development. Glad you're back! You know what to do, get 'er done!
  • Hey there. I was 265 at age 28 and bald as well. Ok, I'm a guy so I know it's nowhere near the same thing but we share it! lol The thing that caught me from your story is that your family pokes fun at your attempts to better yourself. That's super not cool. You say you can move out, that may very well be the thing you need…
  • Thanks for the thoughts gang, good stuff. Sijomial, specifically because of your response I watched the clock and did 2 min between sets today.
  • 1. 75 lbs 2. 5 months 3. Over 8 years I've floated between 190 and 210 @ 6'4" (started at 265). I let my diet go back to garbage but started playing soccer 2-3 nights a week. I'd say what works above all else is moderation in eating/drinking, w/e it is you choose to eat/drink, and finding a physically demanding activity…

  • Yeah, I just started back to the gym this week and it's tough fitting it in but sooo worth it! You can totally maintain your weight based on diet, in fact that's the key factor. But a huge part of your total health picture is exercise. I really believe that 20 min/day 5 days/wk is the bare minimum and you should make…
  • Wow, I mean wow! What an incredible difference and progress! I'm so glad to hear you've made this decision and am thrilled with what you've done so far! Keep it up, we're all with you, you're awesome!
  • I wouldn't put a limit on what's possible. I've seen amazing things on this site. I've also seen myself go from a size 44 jeans to size 32. I thought that was impossible, that surely my hip bones required at least a 36! I'll pay devil's advocate though. Let's say there is nothing short of major cosmetic surgery to get rid…
  • Fantastic! A year is a great milestone!
  • Now, I'm not a vegan but find Soy milk to be far preferable to cow milk and they've got a high protein version (10g in 3/4 cup). It's a little spendy but everything else about it is right and if you want to tone you'll need a fair amount of protein. I also find unsalted, plain, boring almonds to be great. At first I really…
  • That's pretty friggin awesome! Odd that you got sorter in that second picture though... didn't know that was part of the plan ;-)
  • Hell yeah girl, way to go! Yeah don't sweat the slip here and there. The battle is won over many months, even years.
  • Truly stunning and what a powerful story! Thanks for sharing!!
  • As good as you look I know the real magic is in how much better and healthier you feel! Great job, enjoy your new life!
  • 1 year is a great milestone, well done!
  • Yeah I love Sundays too. I make it my leg day cause it takes me 75-90 min to get through my leg workout and I don't have to wait around for machines. I don't know what I'm going to do when I start playing Tuesday night soccer again though, lol
  • Well done girl! I think the weight training is a good idea. Makes (even women) look even better and increases metabolism. Not a ton but even if you're just burning 100-200 extra calories a day at rest it helps a lot with maintenance. Keep it up, you're doing (have done) great!
  • Divorce /drops mic
  • Ya gotta find a way to eat or your time in the gym will still be wasted. Experiment with some other foods and go talk to people at a whole foods store. The medical profession has gone to total crap so don't stop there (or even waste your time/money in the first place. You still need something to get heart rate up and…
  • Sure. I'd say weigh in weekly (no more!!!) and if you begin to stall out then start counting calories to figure out exactly what's going on. One thing though, if you use MFP to log your food then it calculates the calories for you if it's something in the database. Regardless of counting I HIGHLY recommend logging because…
  • Awesome, thanks guys. Invites sent. Yeah it's a little different for girls but you follow the same program so I'll definitely have ya on my team.
  • I feel ya Wannabe, I struggle with it all... the... time... Been that way since I was a skinny teenager. I'd go to a buffet and eat until I was ready to throw up. I don't know why one person is like that (me) and another isn't. The only way I broke the cycle was the trauma of divorce. Beyond that one thing that helped me…
  • Quite frankly, F em. This is about you, not them. It's your life, not theirs. You haven't seen them in how long? So why do you care what they think? If they're going to judge you they'll find some way. If it's not your weight it's your clothes. If not that then your shoes, your hair, your jewelry, your makeup. If you…
  • Spot on brother. I feel for you and am sorry to hear about your divorce. The upside is that it's the PERFECT time to get in shape and get your health to where you want it to be because being alone you can focus on YOU. Plus, let's be honest, you're going back out on the "market". You want to be and look attractive. Guys…
  • When I lost my weight I didn't concern myself with "earned calories" at all. I think the previous posts make my case for me. It's HARD (impossible?) to accurately calculate this and I think you set yourself up for failure by depending on being able to work off that cheesecake with an hour of cardio. IMO this game is ALL…
  • I know it's controversial but vaping was my solution. Whether it's ultimately good or bad, causes cancer or not, all I know is that I can play competitive soccer against 20 something's and breathing isn't my problem. Don't be worried about still consuming nicotine, it's just a stimulant like caffeine. Sure, taking 300mg at…
  • Well I'm just an idiot male but it's my understanding that your body will specifically hold on to fat while you're breast feeding. It's essential nutrients for the baby. That being said I'd add squats to your regimen. They'll round out that butt and building leg muscle will increase your passive calorie burn. Then when…
  • If I were you I'd lift. With your injury just be cautious and listen to your body. Go in very slow on weight and feel it out. No one at the gym cares if you're bench pressing a 30lb bar bell. I'm starting over after over a year out of it and have a bum shoulder so I'm all beast benching 90lbs but no one cares. Lifting will…
  • Wicked cool man, keep it up! Already a pretty massive change!
  • Welcome guys, you've taken a GREAT first step. I hit the same point you did a few years back and life is SOO much better at a healthy weight. Looking great is good psychologically but the way you will FEEL is where the real gain is. At 29 I was ~260lbs, smoked a pack a day, and drank 4-18 (yes, 18) beers a night playing…
  • Yeah that's really cool man, I was thinking of doing the same. I think it helps people to kinda see it in action and how losing weight can really work. Before and after it's great but it can seem like magic. I've noticed my weight doesn't fluctuate much either now, even if I eat crap... But I notice in the gym and on the…
