  • I started taking Kudzu for Lyme Disease. Planetary Herbals brand, 4 or 5 a day. I did this for four months. I am now just struggling with stamina but the majority of my symptoms have dropped off.
  • I think you have to fix your thyroid function before you can lose weight or in some cases gain weight with Lyme Disease. If you're not being treated, you should really check out Kudzu for Lyme Disease Facebook group.
  • It's a great start. I've lost about thirty pounds in a year. Roughly speaking, I am on the Mediterranean diet without all the carbs. The good fats seem to be the key and Omega 3 from fish and eggs. Keep it up!
  • That is a lot of weight to be proud of. Probably your body has adjusted to the exercise you are doing. I would add in something else. Swim one day and then walk the next and bike the next. Do what you enjoy. Good for you. Keep going.
  • I think it is just raw determination that gets people there. Last summer, I lost around 21 lbs and worked all year to keep it off. The summer is when I have lots of time due to my job being over in June each year and I am trying to exercise about two hours a day. I have already budged about 7 pounds and hope to maybe get…
  • How are you finding a way to lose that much? I'm just interested.
  • Sorry to hear. A friend of mine was told she was prediabetic and her doctor told her to cut the carbs down to a minimum and when eating them to eat just whole wheat and some of the ancient grains. She is still prediabetic but she doesn't have a brain fog. Feel free to friend me.
  • I found my weight wasn't moving in the downward direction until I added good fats to my diet.
  • If you have access to a gym, I would try weight training and cardio a few times a week. It's not that hard once you get into it. It makes you feel better too so that you're more likely to walk and to chose good foods. OK, there are trainers on here but here's what I was taught by a fitness trainer... Weight lifting for…
  • I lived in England for a bit and knew this guy who at 36 had already had two heart attacks. He told me a little about it, the restrictions on life and that he was bummed out. Being from Canada, I copied off what it said about the B blood type and gave him a copy of it. Figured it couldn't hurt. He got quite excited because…
  • My mother-in-law is 70 and in good shape drinking full fat milk. She's not a cheese eater though. If she bakes, she eats butter. She just takes cholesterol medicine like everybody else. Following her lead, I decided that I would not buy anymore 1 percent milk. I made it 2 percent milk. I noticed my kids look a little…
  • I have done a lot of reading and the common thought is that eating too far below calorie requirements puts you into starvation mode which means you store fat instead of losing or you exercise too much and don't eat enough. I still tried this approach by just staying at the calories required because it is good to be open to…
  • You're better to buy sugar free beverages with no replacement of the sucralose or aspartame in them. I was told by a Dietician to stop with the Diet Pepsi and after almost a year, I agree that drinking the occasional Diet Pepsi made me more likely to seek food with sugar in it. I sometimes buy beverages with Stevia in it…
  • I hard from a friend that Gastric Bypass seems to mean she can eat very small amounts of food. She was very overweight in her lower body before (about a size 24), then she went down to a 16 and she has climbed back up to about a 20. IN addition, she has lots of medical problems related to nutritional deficiencies. What…
  • Noni juice (a small amount of it daily) can ease joint pain and arthritis. It also gives you a boost of energy for the whole day so it is better to drink in the morning.
  • Sugar can prevent weight loss. Diet products that are beverages are even worse but you can find debates on that. I was told a long time ago not to drink your calories. Though I'm not perfect at it, I just keep reminding myself about this as you can drink a lot of calories. That seems to be where a lot of sugar is. Good…
  • Some things that help...think of your diet like you should never be hungry. So add the 'good fats' to your meals. When selecting a carbohydrate, select a whole wheat or whole grain option which digests slower. Add flax seeds (brown and ground) to smoothies. Make sure there is some sort of protein in each meal. A good…
  • Looks like you're doing a great job!
  • Great job! Keep it up!
  • Great work. Shows what motivation can do.
  • Good luck. I have a friend who was told she was prediabetic and he brazenly told her (this means, forget the carbohydrates as much as possible and the sugar.) Her sister has Type 2 Diabetes but she does not after having done this for three years. She has replaced white rice with black rice, white flour with some of the…
  • Lots of people gain weight after a wedding. Comes with happiness. Sometimes you just start matching your portions with your spouse and you just can't eat the bigger portions. I would say to just keep at it. Maybe add in a level of exercise that is sustainable like twice a week aerobics or something. Then, look at your food…
  • I'd eat more calories of the healthful variety. Some things I eat: flax seed in smoothies which has the good fat. Olive oil salad dressings and the salad to go with it. Boiled eggs, at least two a day. Noni juice in smoothies. You require little and it has high fiber. Whey protein which can flavour the smoothies without…
  • I've noticed a difference since ditching the diet Pepsi. Try some flavoured whey protein for a drink. I think because it is soooo sweet, it makes you succeptible to eating other sweets.
  • Lots of good suggestions but mostly, the consensus is that you can do it!
  • Add in the good fats so you feel full.
