  • Yes...please friend me. I just went back on my g-free diet. It was too hard to do during pregnancy due to so many foods making me feel nauseous. But I am off it now, and just starting to have weird withdrawal symptoms (aches, headaches, acne). Last time I got off of it, my bloating went wayyyyy down.I am not celiac, just…
  • I don't feel it is cheating. Right now I am nursing an 11-pound baby, so everything she eats is from me. I am not willing to risk a low milk supply in order to lose weight, so I log those 500 calories. Even with that, I am still feeling my tummy grumble in the middle of the night, so I think I'm eating at a deficit.
  • Was always thin until teaching. Stressful job, eating sugar for energy, then go fat! Lost weight, but the cycle continued with stressful jobs. I tend to eat more when I am doing a job I hate :-( I am a stay at home mom now, and I'm trying to NOT overeat...I love my new "job" but...being home all day can get tedious.
  • I'm a new mom too...anyone can add me. I was 150 prior to pregnancy and wanted to get down to 135, but now I am 159 so I have 9 pounds pregnancy weight plus some to lose. I'm especially interested in hearing how breastfeeding moms do it...I am hungry ALL THE TIME!!!
  • No kidding. Plus you always end up getting weighed with all your clothes & shoes on, plus whatever you ate throughout the day. I weight about 7 pounds MORE in the doctor's office, which is kind of a lot (right now 170 on my home scale, 177 on the doctor scale). I'm going to go with my scale at home otherwise I'm comparing…
  • I am now almost at 3rd trimester, and this is the best I've felt so far. Finally figured out what to do to ease back/pelvic pain after seeing a PT. First trimester, I just basically tried to survive! I worked out until about week #8 when I was so nauseous and exhausted (I mean exhaustion that made me HAVE to take a nap…
  • OMG...you are NOT eating enough food! I looked at your diary - where are the nutrients? There is hardly any protein and a lot of food that doesn't give you much nutrition-wise. I am not a doctor, but if I attempted to eat like you, I would be exhausted all the time and would end up bloated and sluggish. I started losing…
  • I seriously do not bother to weight myself from day 26 til after my period is totally gone. I typically gain up to 5 pounds, which is currently 2.5% of my body weight. 16 pounds seems a bit hard to believe. But anything is possible. I am trying to cut back on coffee, chocolate, etc. the week before mine. It is a huge…
  • I was very, very thin in my teens and early 20s. When put on anti-depressants in my mid-20s I gained weight, but then lost most of it the year after I got off. A back injury (along with the hunger producing and water-retaining steroid injections) made me gain weight very quickly; again, after my back healed, I lost it…
  • 1. I don't want to spend $15 - $20 on something I could make at home and it would taste better. 2. The "healthy meals" they offer are more expensive. 3. Usually if you order a different side (like fruit instead of chips), the fruit is some crap from a can or melon (which I hate) and they charge you extra for it 4. Everyone…
  • Tuna - Trader Joe's albacore tuna Almond butter Free range eggs avocados Vega protein shake mix with frozen berries and sugar-free almond milk
  • Corn tortillas and corn chips (both from Trader Joe's) are my best friend. I also use lettuce to wrap things in, celery to put nut butter and/or tuna salad on, and spaghetti squash instead of pasta. Yeah, there are a lot of "rice flours," but I recommend you try to just avoid all the grains as much as possible. Most of the…
  • Seriously, I think half the reason I got overweight in the FIRST place was the stupid starvation mode myth. After so much information, I literally now have almost no idea how I should be eating. I just try to eat 4 meals a day of about 300-400 calories each with a lot of protein and veggies and hope for the best. The other…
  • Hating how I looked in pictures. Tired of random people asking me when my baby was due. Even though I was only 162 pounds, 80% of my extra weight is in my tummy and butt, which means people would always assume I was pregnant. So embarrassing. I gained weight when I started working 60 hours a week at a desk. I ended up…
  • If I work late, I try to plan ahead and eat my meals at weird times that day - lunch at 2, dinner at 6:30 or 7, something like that. If I am absolutely dying, I make a protein shake with almond milk & a scoop of protein powder and maybe a little fruit. I try not to eat a lot then go to bed. Tonight I taught a Zumba class…
  • In my attempt to get rid of grains, I made this "bread" with ground up flax seeds and egg whites. It looked like something I'd use as insulation in my attic, and I could only imagine that insulation tasted just like this "bread." It was horrible. I no longer have to wonder why the Paleolithic people didn't last...I…
  • I eat a piece of millet-chia toast with almond butter. I avoid fruit because it makes my stomach hurt if I workout. Then when I get home, I eat a real meal.
  • Only get them if you are in too much pain. I got them in my back because I was in A LOT of pain. They messed up my hormones, made me eat like crazy, screwed with my blood sugar and they only helped after I got 3 of them (I think it was one per month for 3 months or something like that). I would do it if I was in a lot of…
  • Please add me as a friend - that goes for everyone with PCOS...I need more friends on this site (and in life) who know what I'm going through. Since December when I upped my protein and workouts and cut out sugar, ALL DAIRY, soy, and gluten (I am about 95% compliant), my acne is a million times better, my tummy has gone…
  • Awww. So sorry you feel overwhelmed right now. I have been there too. Doesn't matter how many pounds you have to lose...when you haven't succeeded in the past, it can feel very overwhelming to start again. I love this site! This is probably the first time I've been motivated to keep on going. I have a medley of health &…
  • It is probably very hard for them. It's difficult, but if you want to stay friends with any of these people, you will probably have to be sensitive to the fact that they aren't ready to think about their weight. You're light a giant red flashing light in their face now that they have a problem. And they haven't wanted to…
  • So true. Lately I keep telling myself (when I feel no progress is happening) to look back to where I came from a year ago. And that a year ago, I was doing practically NO workouts and eating crap all the time. It does help me a lot to do that, and it is exactly what I tell friends in the same situation. And that even if…
  • Thanks for the advice! I am going to really work on upping my protein. I will probably have to have 2 scoops of protein powder a day b/c I can only eat so much fish/meat before I just get sick of eating it. Will work harder at the strength training and change to lifting weights 2x a week. I will probably still do the…
  • Personally, I would start stock-piling cash somewhere he can't find...then I'd work on myself fitness-wise and start planning a life w/o him for when your kids are a little older. I'm being serious. In a couple years, the kids will be in school and you'll be able to do without him. If you do get in shape, you will like…
  • My strength training is a mix of isometric exercises (like ballet bar) and circuit training with hand weights (dead lifts, push ups, etc.).
  • Here's my eating and training situation: 1600-1800 calories a day. Protein 60 Carbs 200 Fat 65 (average in last month) I measure most things with a scale. I get confused when eating out, so I try not to eat out. I do track everything I don't take days off but log everything. Only exception is if I'm out of town like last…
  • I'm in the same boat. For me it starts with eating out. I start eating in restaurants and it's all down hill. Or I run out of veggies & good foods at home. So this week, I'm going back to NO eating out for the rest of February. And I'm going to book 1-2 grocery shopping times into my planner to make sure I have good food…
  • Sad no one replied to your post! I was doing a search to see if anyone else out there was trying ballet bar. I am not doing NYC Ballet, but I am doing the Barre Method workout and have taken classes. HARDEST DVD and class I've ever taken! I literally need a NAP afterwards! I have tried everything - Zumba, yoga, water…
  • I feed my kitty a gluten-free high protein dry food and I give her 1/3 can of organic tuna (the kind for people) 3-4 times a week. Sometimes I give her some turkey or chicken cut up.
