Hi everyone, it is very inspiring reading through all of your posts. I drink red wine several nights a week and I want to cut my overall monthly alcohol down. I saw a documentary about liver damage from alcohol and it scared me when I found out that the amount considered safe is a lot less than I realized! My plan is to…

I started did yoga class that I thought was too hard for me and made it to the end with only a couple of tiny modifications.

Okay I'm back and happy to say I was wrong! I made it through day one with a tiny modification here and there. Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow :)

Fermented cabbage, and kombucha :s

I finally got it together to get back to the gym and felt so happy while I was there and afterward. A mini goal is to keep going to my favorite class at least 3 times per week.

Potatoes. It is always potatoes for me. Crisps, chips, boiled, mashed, baked, it doesn't matter. I just love them.

I'm looking for a home video-based yoga class, I might give this a go, but I'm skim watching her Day One video and already seeing things that are too difficult for me with my osteoarthritis in my hips and spine. Maybe I need an easier channel to start with.

Yes! I started subbing ground turkey for beef in my spaghetti bolognese sauce years ago, my hubby and kids are so used to it they don't remember the difference now. I am going to try subbing turkey in more recipes.

I might eat only about 1250 on a day that I literally sit and do nothing, but those days are few and far between and only happen due to health issues that can flare-up. If I burn 2000 calories on a fairly active day with a workout included I would eat around 1750 that day, so a deficit of 250 for a weightloss goal of…

Thank you, my go-to used to be aquafit classes, they were canceled last March, and I am so happy to see my gym has started them up again! I go cycling outdoors occasionally - short and mostly flat in my neighborhood, and I like hiking. Those exercises seem to work well for my arthritis, I have moderate osteoarthritis in my…

Thank you, how much protein do you think is sufficient (percent)? MFP set it at 20% with the guided set up, is that enough?
-
Thank you jane! That is exactly what I would like to do, I didn't know I could gain strength while loosing, that is really encouraging  I went to the gym last night for the first time since last March, it felt good to see people working out and to be there again.

Thank you this all makes perfect sense, thanks for replying emmies, and thank you to everyone who commented. It has been very helpful as I was very confused about my fitness pal sugar counting, and the whole issue with added v's not added. I will just track the other 5 instead of sugar on MFP from now on

Thanks for the replies, they helped a lot. Emmies I would like to hear what your nutritionist says about it.

Look up the DASH diet.

I first got bad heartburn when I was pregnant with my daughter, she is 27 now and I have had it ever since. Your doctor should have a range of things for you to try, diet changes, raising the head of the bed, avoiding certain foods etc. I tried all of these things, I have never been more than 20lbs over my ideal weight,…

Omelette with 1 egg, 2 whites, turkey sausage crumbles, cheese and a little hot sauce. Sometimes add onions and red bell pepper if I have time.

You already answered your own question. At your height weight and age (6'3", 215lbs, early 50's) your Basal Metabolic Rate is around 2000 per day - therefore if you laid in bed all day and did absolutely nothing you would burn about 2000 calories per day. However, you said you are exercising 6 days per week and eating…

Oh c'mon this isn't rocket science. If you want to cook a new recipe and want to know what the nutritional value is just weigh everything in grams and then look it up, I do it for any new recipe and takes a few mins not two hours.

Totally agree!! A woman I have met only twice in passing has two daughters (whom I have never met) having baby showers this month, she invited me and then told me they are registered at Neiman Marcus.... hmm yea right I will go spend copious of money on at a place I can't afford to buy from for people I have never met and…

Crap I can't think of anything to complain about today, that's not like me at all ...

Following, hope to find better recipes as mine taste awful too, I recommend adding coconut oil to your kale, makes it easier to scrape into the bin.

I only started swimming recently, but I was worried about chlorine on my hair and a tip I came across was to make sure you wet your hair in the shower before getting in the chlorinated pool water so that your hair has already soaked up some water and will soak up less chlorinated water. I don't know if it really helps as,…

A long soak in a warm bubble bath with a few drops of lavender essential oil, a warm cup of tea and my phone to watch videos on. Holding and cuddling my cat, luckily he is a 'love bug' type kitty and will just lay in my arms like a baby and purr while I pet him. (Not both at the same time = would end in tears and lots of…

WOW I just looked it up and watched it. It was beautiful! made me cry :'( thank you for sharing :)

Thank you, I will take a look that sounds great although I don't really know much about Crossfit I would like to hear those stories.

Evening snacking, I love to eat tons of crisps and drink red wine. I still allow myself wine and crisps on Fridays and sometimes Saturdays, but if I am not careful that also becomes Sundays, then in creeps a Wednesday here and there and before I know it I am back to square one.

I find it irritating that we live in a world where everyone gets offended so easily by every little thing. Having said that, some doctors need to work on their delivery and make sure they are being helpful not just critical. My doctor talked to me about 'lifestyle changes' when I developed high blood pressure and I am glad…
