Ahh it all makes sense now, the minute I saw your post it conjured up memories in my mind. I am sorry to any Brits I don't want to offend anyone but this is such a problem in some parts of the UK these days, it was like that where I was in Yorkshire before I left. I used to be uncomfortable just walking to the corner shop…

I am so sorry to hear that is happening to you and I'm really surprised, maybe I am naive but I haven't heard of this happening before. May I ask what region or country you are in? Don't let anyone keep you from your goals, I don't understand people sometimes, it is horrible that they are saying things like that to you, is…

I'm in!! Like so many others have said - this is my biggest challenge with food. I watch tv for the last hour or two before bed and that's when it happens, I hate my self the next morning. So today will be my first day.

I would totally have loved this to be available when my kids were at school, but it would only be likely to work for those children who had been introduced to vegetables at home, it is very difficult to change a person's eating habits. For my kids it would have been a god send because they love vegetables, they ask for…

My co workers don't know that it is easy for me to turn down the donuts that our boss brings into the office because I am saving my calories up for my red wine in the evening >.< I stopped drinking for a couple of months earlier this year in preparation for a surgery and the weight just fell off me, only a couple of…

No such thing as healthy sugar and unhealthy sugar, your body can't tell the difference, it is all just sugar.

Did you make sure to log the walk at the correct time? This will tell your fitbit dashboard the number you log on mfp. Alternatively you can just choose not to log step based exercise on mfp and instead just let fitbit keep track. I prefer to log on mfp with the calories my heart rate monitor says I used but I make sure to…

Maybe breast tissue is more dense than fat and after losing fat in that area he is feeling the beast tissue? Only thing I can think of.

Chipotle!! Our nearest one is awesome, fresh and delicious.

Doc prescribed Wellbutrin when I said I wanted to stop, took that for 3 months, but still had to really want to. It helped a lot though, been stopped for 7 years now.

You could try the Zombie run 5k phone app - it starts with only 15 second runs, and a free form time where you choose how much you run/walk for a few mins. Very gently into to running.

Here you go, read the first post in this thread to help you get on the right path: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants#latest

I chose the weight I was for most of my adult life before I gained weight after getting married happy and comfortable lol That goal weight is going to be flexible depending on my body fat% when I reach it, and then as I continue to strength train and build more muscle the number on the scale will be less of a focus.

I've never had spaghetti squash, I am going to try it after reading this thread. Do any of you make soup with it?

Since I started Zombies, Run! I am really enjoying running. Strength training is fine as long as I have my phone with me. Vote +1 for show links to the proof that 'mostly females lack the motivation for the physical part of diet and exercise'.

Awesome, congratulations! I am planning to do my first 5k in December. I am doing the C25K plan and right now I can only run 3 mins continuously so it feels pretty ambitious to be planning for it, but my better half tells me I will be ready so I am thinking positive. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed it, keep it up and you…

^^ This is very true, it is different for everyone. I am 5' 2.5" (that .5 is very important to me as you can see, every little counts lol) I started at 136 and now I am at 123. My goal is 115, but I expect that I may get to 115 loosing and then gain some as I continue to improve my weight lifting. However, I am really more…

I did recently to a co worker who was asking for tips for weight loss, but to be honest I realized afterwards that I like to be anonymous on this site and not known by RL acquaintances. I am able to 'keep it real' here that way. Anyway, she found it frustrating to use due to the recent upgrades I guess, and she didn't want…

You say you are being penalized? The purpose of health insurance is basically to spread health care costs among many people when you need life preserving, disease preventative or life saving treatment. There are many cases out there of people loosing their homes, being bankrupt and suffering terribly because they had to…

It could be side effects of the meds, my doc said mine can cause tiredness and other symptoms, but I never had any side effects from them. Check the info sheet that came with the prescription to see what side effects are likely.

I will probably never stop counting, like was said above it is just part of my day, some things I just do because they are good for me, this is one of them. Do I sometimes wish I could eat anything I like, as much as I like, yes - that is how life was for me for the first 35 years of my life, never gained and could eat…

You don't have to run the whole 5k. Like was said above it is fine to walk, jog or a combination of both. Wear a wool hat, mittens, long sweat pants and thick socks, a sweater that you can remove and tie around your waist if you get hot.

Here's what I find confusing in this discussion - an earlier post mentioned that couscous being pasta will turn to sugar fast in your stomach, but quinoa being a plant won't, and yet when I look up the nutritional data for 1 cup of cooked couscous and one cup of cooked quinoa they both have the same glycemic load of 18. -…

OMG that is so shocking and sad! Just tonight I had to back up and head home when my path was blocked by a dog with no owner. They really scare me.

Yea we have scones in the US, not always good ones though lol
-
Oh, and some web sites say the American 'biscuit' is like the British scone, nope.... nothing like a scone! It is something usually eaten with breakfast, not with cream and jam, and is more kind of a bread without the cake type crumblyness that scones have.

I have a constant struggle with this issue at work. I started a new job in an office where they have a kitchen right in the next room and employees often cook, like 3-4 times a week, pancakes, hash browns, large batches of cookies, and the boss brings a huge box of doughnuts in 2-3 times a week. People have noticed I am…
