  • I remember doing something called a Cambridge Diet for three weeks. Three powdered meals a day - 2 sweet shakes and something that was supposed to resemble a soup. 400 kcal or so per day!!! Even though I did not cheat I only lost a couple of pounds and felt horrible.
  • You did a great job! How about a tiny smile?
  • I second RoseTears143 - something threw your body out of a ( relative ) balance. Have you been under lots of stress recently? It always makes me feel worse. Change in meds? New supplement?
  • Never had problems with it on my elliptical trainer...
  • I find I have less brain fog if I wait at least an hour after taking my pill in the morning before I eat my breakfast. Supplements are spread throughout the day, but I take first with my lunch. Iron before going to bed.
  • It is one of the reasons I posted the question - I have been having pains in my toes recently. They are not severe and not always there but I am getting worried. I had a bone density test a couple of months ago but it showed no abnormalities ( i.e. osteoporosis ).
  • Thanks! I have decided to order ALC and Rhodiola first, ALA and turmeric next month. We will see whether anything positive happens.
  • I eat gluten-free oats with brasil nuts ( because of selenium ) and chia seeds, soaked overnight in a vegetable "milk". I add some fruit to the mix as well. I have problems with my iron levels so I try to separate foods high in calcium from those high in iron nowadays. For example since oats deliver iron I make sure my…
  • Hi, I'm Ela. I'm a working mom of one busy toddler. I have Hashimoto's so weight loss/gain is a bit unpredictable with me, but I do my best to eat healthy and exercise ( almost ) every day. I log every day. I could be your diary buddy if you wanted :-)
  • Hi, I'm Ela. I do not own the DVDs yet, but I am planning to buy them in the near future so I thought it would be a good idea do see what I can expect... Right now I'm doing the 30 Day Shred. I lost some weight and inches doing it which was unexpected as I have Hashimoto's ( an autoimmune form of hypothyroidism ) so every…
  • Feel free to add me. I have < 10 lbs to say goodbye to.
  • Interesting what you say about calcium. I used to take my meds about half an hour before my calcium-heavy breakfast. Now I have at least 2 hours break between them plus use calcium-free milk in my breakfast and feel a bit better.
  • Good idea. Maybe we should start a sub-group of this one?
  • Thanks! It is amazing what a difference 6 pounds can make @steviecooke19.
  • It is quite interesting to see how different we all are.. Some seem to only be able to loose weight by starving themselves, some use the 'Eat more to weigh less' approach. Some swear by heavy lifting and minimal cardio, some jog for an hour a day. I personally seem to maintain my weight when I burn 2200-2400 kcal and eat…
  • :flowerforyou: Shame we are friends already as I could have added you.. Gerontology? Hm, I have to make sure you are still my mfp pal in twenty years or so
  • Why do you take your meds "on and off"? 75 mcg is a fairly high dosis, does your doc take you off your meds? As to your other questions ( I have Hashi's ): * I am not GF, but I try to limit gluten by choosing gf-grains more often * I am not dairy - free, but I often choose grain / nut "milks" instead of cow milk * I seem…
  • My endo says that everything in moderation is OK. How often do you eat soy?
  • Sounds like me after I had my baby three years ago. I was constantly sick, colds lasted three weeks, I even had to take antibiotics.. My GP insisted back then that it was "normal" for a stressed new mother. Lo and behold, next check at my endo's ( I have Hashi's ) revealed severe vitamin D deficiency. I started taking 1000…
  • I wake up at 5:30 a.m., take my L-Thyroxine and go back to sleep. I eat my breakfast about 7:30. My brain fog has been less annoying in the last two months or so since I had started doing this. Previously I would take my meds right after waking up and eat my breakfast 30 mins later. Taking my meds at bedtime did not work…
  • What about other grains? Buckwheat, quinoa, certified gluten-free oatflakes? Corn? Pulses are gluten-free as well.
  • I had a closer look at the leaflet that comes with my L-Thyroxine to see what side effects it could have. It mentions lots of scary things, heart problems ( palpitations ) among others. Ah, and it also warns you you could experience weight loss. Ha ha ha.
  • I'll go with the others - I would trust the HRM. The exercise machines are notoriously optimistic. Not to mention the mfp estimates, especially when it comes to "slower" exercises like yoga, weight training or walking.
  • My sugar levels haven't been checked for ages @survivor1952 - I did not realize that it could be a factor as well. @MeepleMuppet my Levo's dose was increased from 75 mcg to 100 mcg last autumn, the make stayed the same. I have to admit I struggle to keep my water intake adequate, I'm aiming for 1,5 l but usually end up…
  • I think you have to find out what works for you. I have a Hashi friend who lost weight eating a vegan diet, another one swears by a low carb diet, yet another eats everything but counts calories. Many people seem to be convinced that going gluten-free is the solution. Whatever you do you have to be patient.
  • I do not think so to be honest - I usually wake up with a dry mouth in the morning leading me to think that my jaw is quite loose when I sleep ;-). I had a slow and relaxing yoga session yesterday and I am feeling better today - maybe it is just a built-up tension?
  • Same policy here in Germany - Armour is "not reliable", T3 drugs are just for "special" cases. My FT3 is always in the lower part of the "normal" range, but because it is theoretically within norm, no doc wants to help me.
  • You make some good points @MeanderingMam. The funny thing I have only just remembered is that once I chose by mistake "mountain biking" as my workout type and Runtastic gave me almost twice the amount of calories burned for exactly the same ride :-). I guess I will just stick to the lowest estimation given, as @flynnfinn…
  • Have you had your Vit D, Ferritin and B vitamins levels checked?
