  • I didn't read all 13 pages of posts so if this has already been suggested, a thousand pardons. You can buy Orville Redanbacher's PrestoPop Microwave Popcorn Bowl for under $20. 1 T oil & a 1/3 cup of popcorn, add whatever seasonings you like. The seasonings will stick because it's not air popped but it's not the gross…
  • Oboeing - you said it perfectly. If I blow a meal, I give up on the whole week. My other big issue is salty, crunchy snacks. I have NO willpower or self-control if there are chips of any kind in the vicinity. Like I always say, "if broccoli tasted like Lay's, I wouldn't have a problem". And I like broccoli!
  • Frosted Flakes Super Sugar Crisp Quake Quisp Froot Loops I've only recently discovered Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Had I known then, what I know now...it would have been a fav. I'm also an oddball in that I do not put milk on my cereal. I eat it dry then down my milk after. Always have, always will.
  • Step into the 'way back' machine for this one: I've Got a Name - Jim Croce Class of 1978
  • Cornfritter - I do this at the grocery store every week. 2 banans of a yellow color & 3 of a green color. The green ones will be ripe by the time Wed/Th roll around but not so ripe that they're banana bread ready. IMO - I'm paying for the bananas, I'll buy the ones I want. My grocery store even has a basket at the front of…
  • That's huge! I'm very happy for you.
  • Ellen: Clark, I think it'd be best if everyone went home... before things get worse. Clark: WORSE? How could things get any worse? Take a look around here, Ellen. We're at the threshold of hell.
  • Your smile says it all. Fantastic job and congrats on achieving your goal ahead of schedule. You are going to continue doing a wonderful job!
  • "Can I borrow..." a tissue, a piece of gum, a Q-tip, etc. I don't want any of those back, thank you.
  • Thanks mjterp! I will check it out!
  • I have a Fitbit One. Pros - 1) small & easily concealed 2) records steps and flights of stairs 3) can record an activity separately and then combine for a daily total Cons - 1) very generous on calories burned (I wake up in the morning with 400+ calories burned) 2) it is .2 miles off for every mile I walk (I tracked it on…
  • I am so impressed! Amazing job!
  • I like Corn Flakes. 100 calories per 1 oz serving. No sugar needed.
  • AMEN! I no longer have the urge to spend money on mediocre food prepared (mostly) by teenagers who don't give a crap.
  • Great analogy. I look at each 1/2 lb weight loss as 2 sticks of butter. 1/2 lb might not seem like a huge loss when I look at those 2 sticks of butter, it brings it into perspective.
  • I've lost 42 lbs (so far) by hitting the pavement with my two feet and attending Zumba at a local community center. I'm going to start toning with some weights at home. I don't feel like I need to spend money on a gym membership now. That may change at some point but for now, I'm good.
  • Right on, mathjulz! I too compared sugar content and found Yoplait Greek 100 calorie yogurt to have the lowest. I absolutely L-O-V-E the lemon and lime flavors. Eating this lime yogurt tastes like a margarita without the tequila!
  • Truly inspirational! You look stunning.
  • What an amazing transformation! You deserve to be proud. You've got some nice curves going on...the difference in your waist line in the first before and after pics. Insprirational!
  • I agree with the other posts...you look amazing! You didn't gain weight quickly and you probably think you aren't losing it quickly enough but you will keep it off! You have truly made a lifestyle change. Your smile shows your pride! I don't know you and I'm proud of you!
  • I tried Zumba last fall and have been going regularly ever since. I tried a few different classes / times with different instructors until I found the ones whose style I liked and have stuck with them. I can't dance and have no rhythm. My kids tells me I look like a 'bear in pain' when I dance. I suppose that was the…
  • That is an awesome accomplishment!! Way to go!
  • I'm Anne (with an e). I used to have to say that a lot when providing information to be stored in a database.
  • OMG! I thought I was the only one who hung things up to dry out of fear of the dreaded dryer shrink! The post made my laugh out loud.
  • I have always felt the same way. I've lost and gained weight my entire life but never wanted anyone to notice or comment. Why? Two reasons, I think: 1) we don't feel we deserve to 'look good' 2) noticing our weight loss means we we woud have to admit that we really were (are) fat and we've been trying to fool ourselves for…
  • Hi Susie and welcome! Here is the advice I give and seems to have worked for me. Take the first few weeks and make 1 change per week, adding to the change from the previous week(s). Too much all at once can seem overwhelming. Week 1 - drink 64 oz. of water every day, week 2 - start some sort of exercise (walking is free),…
  • "I started dieting and I dieted myself fat for 30 years." MsCarlalala you have summed up in one sentence what I have tried to find a way to explain for a very long time. I am going to print this out and hang it up at work, at home and my car. THANK YOU!
  • When I was young, I was a corn-fed midwestern country girl. My aunt, a farmer's wife, taught me to cook. Most lessons started with, "you get a good wallop of lard and put it in a cast iron skillet". Every meal was meat, potatoes, vegetable and bread. Desserts were saved for Sunday dinner. We ate everything on our plates…
  • Thanks for starting this group. I'll be 53 in November. I started MFP on 01 JAN this year. Started out like gang busters and then slacked but am back on track for a total loss or 34 lbs to date. I have 2 favorite sayings, "I may have to grow old but I don't have to grow up" and "if broccoli tasted like potato chips, I…
