  • Add more fat - coconut oil to fry with, full fat dairy (heavy cream for your coffee), full fat salad dressings. If you aren't very hungry, using these items to enhance your meals will help add the calories.
  • My husband passed away two years ago, I wish he was here to see what I've accomplished. When I had lost weight in the past, he was very supportive and was more attentive and appreciative of my efforts. He would enjoy it if another man paid some attention to me, knowing that I would be going home with him, not the guy…
  • I don't know what my doctor will think, but my yearly physical will be in a few months. I will weigh less than last year and I am interested to see the lab results in comparison to last year. I did not start low carb until April of this year, so we shall see if she's behind me on this lifestyle. She can't be totally…
  • I don't know if you've looked into bulletproof coffee at all, but the stuff is incredible. I go to work at 5 am, and I have BPC around 4:15 am. I don't eat until I get home, between 1 and 2 pm. I honestly think the fat is what keeps me full. I use 2 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp grass fed unsalted butter, 1 tbsp heavy cream in…
  • I had some problems as well, and an increase in fiber seemed to get things moving again. I would make a MIM (muffin in a minute) with flax meal and it seemed to do the trick. I had already been eating lots of greens. I think I'll look into that tea that other posters had mentioned.
  • I don't eat red meat at all, so what I've found to satisfy me many days is eggs! Hard boiled, omelets, egg salad - it is a yummy and satisfying protein that I don't think I'd ever get sick of. Google low carb recipes and you will find plenty of ideas to help you out!
  • I'm hooked on bulletproof coffee! 12 oz. coffee, 2 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp unsalted grass fed butter, and 1 tbsp heavy cream. Sometimes I add a splash of torani vanilla syrup. The fat keeps me satisfied until lunch. I go to work at 5 am and don't eat until I get home between 1 and 2 pm. I merchandise for Frito Lay so I am…
  • Your diary isn't open so I can't comment on that, but if you really want fruit, I would have some berries. Fruit isn't part of induction, so maybe you should just go into Phase 2, OWL (ongoing weight loss). Add 5 more carbs per day a week at a time.
  • Good luck on your journey. This is a great site - lots of info - I learned a lot! Lots of support too :)

  • I really love the MIMs and have made several varieties, both sweet and savory. Today I made "sliced bread" for the first time. I put a little oregano, basil and sage. It came out great and I enjoyed a tuna fish sandwich for lunch today. And btw, my bread said ziploc, lol.
  • Try taking a reading at night, not the first pee of the day. I've never been in the dark purple, I am usually in between trace and small when I use the strips (which isn't very often). Do you have a funny metal taste in your mouth? Does your urine smell a bit funky? But if you have stopped eating pasta rice and bread and…
  • I like cream in my coffee
  • I haven't gotten the organic coffee and I don't think it matters much. The energy and satiety comes from the fat. I do 2 tbsp nutiva organic coconut oil, 1 tbsp kerrygold unsalted butter, 1 tbsp heavy cream. I started adding a splash of torani sugar free vanilla syrup. I whip it up with my Aerolatte and the results puts…
  • I guess we'll just have to do the math. I just hope that all the nutritional info is right. Sometimes I pick something off the database and it doesn't have any macros listed at all. It's only then that I look into adding it myself. I'm counting on the database to be fairly accurate though.
  • anHi and welcome to this great forum. There are lots of things you can learn here and lots of great ideas to help with the low carb WOE (way of eating). If you are doing induction, you need to keep your net carbs at no more than 20. You aren't allowed any fruit and veggies are limited to a few cups of salad and one serving…
  • I'm definitely trying this. I have an appt. this morning but I will head to Bed Bath & Beyond for the Aerolatte (unfortunately can't use my Nutribullet to make because hot items can damage unit) and then Trader Joe's for the grass fed butter. I have the organic Nutiva virgin coconut oil in my cupboard. I've been on…
  • I believe this is from Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint Carbohydrate Curve. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/the-primal-carbohydrate-continuum/#axzz2TRvrvdVc

  • I started Atkins in the beginning of April and it's been great!! I started with 2 weeks of induction (20 gr net carbs). I had already stopped eating wheat products etc in December so that transition wasn't too hard but I was eating too much sugar (handfuls of mini marshmallows, chocolate). I even cut the stevia out of my…
  • I have between 80-100 grams of fat per day. Use olive oil, coconut oil etc. And FULL FAT dairy. That means no fat free salad dressing etc. Eggs are a great protein source as well. I don't eat red meat so my protein basically comes from eggs, tuna. chicken, pork, fish.
  • I know you have inspired many these past 12 months, me included. Congratulations on reaching your goal and I'm glad you will continue logging. You rock!!
  • I'm on week 3, and I've added nuts back into my diet. I'm still between 20-30 grams/day. This weekend I plan on adding berries back in. I've really missed fruit.
  • "I think we're gonna need a bigger boat" "Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?" "I'll be back"
  • You can add me if you'd like. My breakfast is the same every day. I have a nutribullet and I make a "blast". I don't eat red meat but have chicken and fish and eggs as my proteins. I have lost over 6 lbs in the last couple of weeks with NET carbs at around 20 per day. I eat an average of 1200-1400 cals/day. I'm burning fat…
  • Nuts is what I go for - raw almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts. Lot of bang for the buck there :)
  • As most are saying here, the prep is the worst part. First, before the prep, you have to have clear liquids, i.e. broth, tea, jello (not red!). No Dairy!! That afternoon I had to take laxative pills and then a few hours later I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate (lemon) and the fun begins!! The next morning I had…
  • Bravo to you all for your tremendous success and a high five to you Deb for acknowledging these great ladies and their accomplishments. Lord knows, I have probably gained and lost a person throughout the years, but now I am committed to take care of myself and get to a healthy weight. I have taken care of my children, and…
  • I eat out maybe twice/year. On a side note about portions, I work for Frito Lay (sorry that I contribute to the obesity epidemic, but they pay well) and the little $1.49 bags of chips at the registers of supermarkets - there are almost 3 servings in each little bag. Now do the people that buy those actually stop eating…
  • A tbsp. in my morning nutriblast every day!
