Ran 6.4 miles today  Sadly, I'm not going to meet my target this month as my priorities have changed. I started a new full time job last Monday and I just don't have time now in the week to run. Realistically, I think this will be my last log for Feb. I've really enjoyed doing these challenges and they definitely…
Doesn't it start out with walking/jogging intervals? I understand it is a program meant to get people running...maybe I misunderstood when I read it? Thanks again for everyone's comments!
The programme is walk/jog intervals. For e.g. day 1, warm up walk 5 mins, then jog at your own pace for 60…

Ran 5.3 miles today  I would have ran yesterday, only I fell off my bicycle and injured myself  There was black ice on the pavement, which I didn't see and my bike went from under me and landed on top of me. I was so winded, I just sat indoors and nursed my bruises. Really sore neck today. I must have suffered…

I'll have to look into getting one, thanks.

Well I'm going to have to get on with some squats and find out what this squishy thing is you refer to 'cause it's doing wonders for you. I'm 50 this year and I'd love to have a tush to be proud of.

You look fantastic and may I say I wish I had a tush like yours.

Brief walk today 1.8 miles.

Turning 50 was my motivation to lose weight too but I had 18 months to go. My start weight (in Jan 2013) was 182.5lb and I wanted to lose 37.5lb. I surprised myself and lost 37.5lb in 5 months. I kept to between 1200 - 1400 cals per day and took up running, 3 x per week. I did go on to lose more weight but it took me 8…

^^^^this but as well as the stepping out, the stepping into the shower and that first splash of hot water. It's just a beautiful moment

Delayed start as I wasn't feeling too good over the weekend. Got out today though and ran 5.1 miles

When I realised 50 is just around the corner.

I'm in again this month. I'll try for 80 miles. Not getting off to a good start though as I've got a bit of a cold and I don't want to push myself today and find I'm out the week. I'll see how I feel tomorrow and hopefully get started.

I read that you need to make sure you're hydrated before a run, so I always drink plenty of water an hour or so before my planned run. I have to make sure I squeeze every last drop out of my bladder before I go out though (been caught short once or twice). Breathing technique is important. Nice steady in and out breaths…

You don't need a smart phone. If you have an iPod or MP3 player you can download audio podcasts to your player. I used the NHS Couch25K 9 week programme. I was a non runner last year and now run regular all because of the programme. When you do start to run, don't think of yourself having to run like mad, you just take it…

Ran 4 miles today  I can't believe, not only did I meet my target but I exceeded it and to think this time last year I was struggling to run 60 seconds! This challenge is so motivating and I'm in awe of the distances some of you guys cover :drinker: I'm definitely in for February. I just need to decide what my goal…

Stretching is super important, take the time to do it before/after. Just put together a short routine, it doesn't have to be extensive. It's not meant to exhaust you before you begin. I always do a few leg stretches, neck rolls, arm stretches and I always walk briskly for 5 mins before I begin my run I've always ran…

You've been given loads of advice on how to avoid stitch, so it would appear we all deal with it differently. You have to find what works for you. For me, breathing correctly makes all the difference and out through the belly technique works for me (it takes a while to master it though). Also, I read that you should ensure…

Munich, Germany. I'm originally from UK and I grew up in a city called Milton Keynes (approx. 50 miles north of London) which, back in the early 80's, was dubbed the city of Roundabouts and Concrete Cows. Yes! I kid you not CONCRETE cows :noway: Not that we didn't have real ones, cause we did. At the time, the 3 cow and 3…
