  • Great job, congrats :-)
  • What a mess you are having to deal with :-( Sure hope you get to buy him!!
  • Rode stable horses back when I was a kid, but got my first horse when I was 52. That was 9 years ago and I have been a trail riding fool ever since. Welcome back to riding. It is one of the best parts of life :-)
  • I'm another rider who says "every ride, every time". When my daughter started riding, I made her wear a helmet. When we bought our own first horses, we both wore helmets. I told her, I would wear one too, since she had too! In Iowa (where we previously lived) all 4-H events, kids had to wear helmets when riding. In…
  • Your net should never be less then 1200. Be sure to eat back your exercise calories. Search for "Eat more to loose more".
  • what I do when I don't know the calories burned is that the time x 2 = burned. Such as scooping manure for 60 minutes get me 120 calories burned. I also use that when I ride my horse because the calories burned is soooo way off in my opinion :-)
  • I use my cell phone MFP app to check the calories on "similar" items before I order them or I just exercise more that day or the next day to work off all those extra calories.
  • I don't need to eat if I wake up in the middle of the night to unless I am really hungry. Then I eat something, like a meal replacement bar, drink a big glass of water and then go back to bed. I do like to snack in the evening, so I make sure I factor that in to my calorie count for each day so I leave myself some 'night…
  • My official weigh in day is Wed., so if I eat a little extra on the weekend or don't exercise enough, I can make it up on Monday and Tuesday. Sometimes I weigh more often then that, just to keep my focus.
  • concentrate on a weekly calorie goal, not a daily one. When you go to lunch try a quick 15 minute fast paced walk, eat lean meats and lots of veggies (raw carrots with a loud crunch will help keep you awake). On your short days try for a long walk, or job, zumba or any exercise, days off, exercise more. Try to make sure…
  • My goal is to be able to wear breeches when I ride my horse instead of baggy pants :-)
  • I never worry about my protein level and figure I will use the protein to keep my energy up with my less calories :-)
  • I too have found the more fit I get, the more I have to eat. it is the eat more to loose more way :-)
  • I can be a binge eater so I just make sure that it is within my calorie deficit :-) If I binge one day, the next day I exercise twice as much and stay between 1200 and 1400 calories. I only weigh once a week, so as long as I am within my weekly goal, it doesn't affect me.
  • I am 61 years old and 5'2" tall and am moderately active. I exercise about 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of resistant work and I eat about 1400 to 1600 calories a day. I have lost usually between 1 and 2 lbs. aweek. I eat back about 1/2 my workout calories. I eat lots of veggies, lean meat and fish with some fruits…
  • How about the real revolutionary diet "eat less and move more" it really works most of the time :-)
  • I started MFP on January 1st and love it. I am also an avid trail horse rider in NE. I ride gaited horses. I have a Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse, a Missouri Foxtrotter and a grade gaited horse that we think is a Spotted Saddle Horse (he is an adopted rescue). I love trail riding, horse camping, CTR's and want to do a few…
  • My goal this year is to ride in 5 CTR's and 1 or 2 LD Endurance rides. I have ridden in 2 CTR's so far and am planning to ride in my first LD Endurance ride in 3 weeks in Kansas.
  • Don't know, never had a well trained horse :-) I think I like working with my horses so we get to "know" each other and our quirks.
  • Too awesome, I didn't know about this group until my friend Tammy replied to it and I got a copy because we are friends, so of course, I HAD to join this group :-) I have so many horsey NSV's now that I have lost weight! 1st, is I got a new green broke young horse! I would never have done that 6 months ago, because I…
  • Wow, this is a thought provoking article that is very sad and depressing. I'm glad I read it.
  • I also watched the Biggest Loser every week while it is on. I usually recorded it and watched it the next day WHILE I did MY "Last chance workout". Granted mine is only an hour, not 6 hours, but I made sure I worked hard that whole hour. That show gives me inspiration to keep going. When I would watch that show and see…
  • It doesn't really matter when you count it as long as you count it :-) Try and be consistent if you can so it is easier to remember to count it every time.
  • Very cute button :-) Congrats on getting so close to your goal (it's my goal too)! See ya there :-)
  • Make sure you don't go less then 1200 calories per day if you aren't exercising. 1350 is a good basic goal, but if you exercise, make sure you eat back most of your calories. Watch your NET. What is nice is eating back your exercise calories :-) Great incentive to exercise regularly. Try and make sure to eat good calories…
  • Something that I really like and NEED to help me with my lifestyle change is the counting calories and exercise. I count everything I eat and boy does that help me make better choices most of the time. My son came home for 2 weeks after being in Belgium for 3 years and we ate and ate and ate all the yummy fattening foods…
  • Love chocolate, even my horse is chocolate colored LOL... My breakfast every day is a Think Thin Brownie Crunch bar with juice. At night my snack is Special K pastry crisps chocolaty delight. I can't give up my chocolate or I really go on an eating binge and then still eat my chocolate. So I cut right to the chase and eat…

  • Yes a calorie is a calorie, but (of course there is a but...) pizza calories are loaded with sodium, fat, sugar; where the same amount of calories in fish, veggies and a salad are not. Someone once said on a thread here that you can loose weight eating 1200 calories of candy or 1200 calories of veggies, but you can eat a…
  • You are looking great! keep up the great work :-)
