  • It certainly isn't a one size fits all. Even without medical advice some people (me certainly) need the psychological kick to see a bit of decent loss quickly then increase calories to something more sustainable after a few weeks for the long haul. As the OP has sought and is following medical advice it is great that she…
  • Thanks the nuts are a great idea. Just off to get some :) Olives are a going to work too. Was lacking in inspiration
  • Chop suey has a low calorie count for Chinese as there are no noodles. Thai isn't bad as long as you lay off anything with coconut in it, Tom Yum is yummy.
  • If my kids don't eat what they are given they go hungry, trust me it works.
  • I have a few years on you but looking to lose a similar amount. I'm from Herts
  • Get smart with left overs. Make soups and stir fries with leftovers from joints and veggies, omlettes with bits of veg rather than letting them spoil. Im lucky that I have a great local butcher, his braising steak is far better quality than the rump from the supermarket so I buy that if I want a treat. Dont buy cheddar…
  • I was hormone free for years, the Mirena hasnt made me gain weight so I doubt having it removed would make me lose. It is far lower dosage than oral contraceptives. I dont have fluid retention fluctuations with it either. An unplanned pregnancy will have you gaining a whole lot more :)
  • Ooohps double post. Edited
  • Did it many years ago, dropped 35lbs, put some back but have kept 21lbs of it off these last 8 years. Too restrictive for me now as have to eat veggie at work but am aiming to try and stay a way under my carb limit here and a fair bit over on my protien. At its simplest for me its about staying out of the bread. A couple…
  • Sometimes being happy on meds for 3 - 6 months can get people feeling and acting in a more positive manner before slowly weaning off. ED's are more complicated that throwing a few happy pills at them though. You wouldnt hesitate to see a GP if this wasa physical health problem so should owe yourself the same duty of care…
  • Far easier as Im not expected to cook a roast dinner or anything else that may tempt me. I seem to have a pattern of relationships with very lean men that need vast amounts of food just to maintain their weight, might be better to find myself a slightly cuddlier one that maybe doesn't :)
  • I like to eat plenty of flavourful food but find the ready made sauces too calorific and full of sugar to justify using when I can be eating "real" food. Thai 7 spice, jerk seasoning, fajita spice, smoked paprika and cajun spice really ring the changes quickly and easily. Schwartz do some great ones but there are some far…
  • I gained some weight after having 2 babies in 18 months and being diagnosed with postpartum hypothyroisism . My ex h told me I repulsed him and made his flesh crawl because I had let myself get so fat. My mother presented me with an expensive pair of leather jeans one Christmas, then proceeded to tell me she had purposely…
  • Sulphate free shampoo. My hair is in way better condition now and my kids don't need to use conditioner any more so it's saving me money too. The sodium sulphate was drying it out and it felt like I had been swimming in the sea, nasty stuff.
  • You're a guy, you lucky whotsits always seem to drop weight far quicker than women. As long as you don't feel hungry and are healthy then it shouln't be too big a deal. How many cals are you having each day?
  • Herbs and spices are your friends here. I use a lot of thai 7spice powder in stir fries with fresh ginger. Tex mex fajita, cajun, jerk, tom yum soup base, these just happen to be personal faves but there will be more. All are great for ringing the changes with a variety of lean meats or just plain veggies.
  • You need to remember that there are women here posting from the UK and the US. If memory serves me right a US8 is the same as a UK12? I'm 5ft 5". My heaviest post baby weight was 175lbs 11 years ago. I was 112lbs all through my teens and early 20's but if went back to that now at my age I would look ill. Currently 152lbs,…
  • Stick with it. Give it another 3 weeks. You should see some results by then and results are the biggest motivator by far.
  • I use the zero fat greek yoghurt as a salad dressing, slacken it off with a little water and add dried mint and crushed garlic with a little salt and pepper to give it a bit of kick. Am thinking I may try it with a little chopped pickle cucumber and some lemon zest next time I have fish
  • Same here, proper mummy tummy. It's just the belly I have issues with. The rest of it I'm pretty happy with though a few inches off my *kitten* won't be a bad thing :)
  • A good friend of mine has lost 77lbs in 6 months has blogged her journey. She has been a real inspiration and if she can do it Im sure I can shift the stubborn 14 - 21 lbs that I hate. I used an online forum about 8 years ago and it really kept me on track and focused. I have kept the vast majority of the weight off. Using…
  • The food is easy enough but as a single mum that's out of the house for over 12 hours a day I'm soooo with you on the exercise. The sofa is way more appealing
  • Amazing, love the before and after pics. Very inspirational
  • I had exactly the same comments. He also told me that I repulsed him and made his flesh crawl. This was a man that complained when I was far slimmer that he thought I had an ED (never have) I divorced the sorry ****** lost 35lbs, kept 21 of it off these past 8 years and never looked back. Encouragement is good, emotional…
  • Made pea and ham today with some left overs from a ham joint. Diced 3 carrots and an onion added the ham, 250g of split yellow peas (green are better but had run out) 2 chicken stock cubes and 3 or 4 pints of water depending on how thick you like it. There was enough for 3 of us with some left for tomorrow. To ring the…
  • Online grocery shopping is good too as you can check out the calories and nutrients in the comfort of your own home before adding them to your basket.
  • I love my meat too. What tends to work for me is upping my veggies, reducing my carbs and staying away from bread completely. I am eating a few reduced meat and meat free meals too using quorn instead of mince from time to time. I lost 2.5 stone on Atkins some years ago and have kept a stone and a half of that off for a…
  • Since cheese is getting lots of mentions I thought Id add my two peneth. I always keep a block of fresh parmesan in the fridge and avoid buying cheddar. A tiny bit of parmesan goes a long way to liven up an omlette, pasta sauce or whatever else you fancy giving a cheesy kick. You will use far less than Cheddar as it is so…
  • New here but lost 35lbs 8 years ago and have kept 21lbs of that off for the last 7 years. I make homemade popcorn and add salt if Im craving chips, far less calories. As for fried chicken a good alternative is chicken thighs with the skin removed dusted in fajita spice powder and roasted in a roasting bag. Im looking…
  • Another newbie Brit here from Hertfordshire. Only been using the app for 3 days so too soon to see any results but loving the ease of use.
