I would eat the scrambled eggs and bacon. Two eggs is 140 calories, and bacon is only about 60-70 per slice. A plain bagel is roughly 290 calories for a normal size, no spread.

Thank you so much for the help!

I make a beeline for the carrots and celery tray.

I am addicted to any food with the word "cake" in it. Cupcakes, coffee cake, pancakes, regular birthday cake... you name it! So I know the feeling. My advice would be to just eat a generous slice and try to watch your intake for the rest of the day. Feeding the inner monster sometimes gets the cravings out of the way so…

Alright, thanks for the help guys! I'll try changing my target to TDEE-15%. I just calculated it, and that's another 200 calories I should be eating. Hopefully this helps!

Wait, are you weighing yourself every day? I would definitely try to go for longer without weighing in. I usually only hop on the scale every Sunday, or sometimes only twice monthly. Stick to it because you'll see progress eventually! Your hard work will be rewarded. :) Gotta be patient.

Oh my god that's not enough! Seriously! You should be eating a net of 1600, roughly, depending on your BMR. Find out your BMR (using MFP or whatever other website you may prefer) and eat about 100 calories over whatever number it gives you. I experienced a plateau earlier this year and overcame it by eating more food. The…

A lot of people are suggesting that you're eating too much, but I was thinking you may not be eating ENOUGH. I know it's stressful to count calories but maybe you should try it again and make sure you eat your BMR and your exercise calories all back. Salads and soup are not substantial. You need real food if you're gonna…

I think fasting every once in a while is a healthy thing but I'm not really into it on a regular basis. I've watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead as well and thought it was a great documentary! Good luck and I hope you have fun with it.

There are a bunch of idiots out there who think fat people can't get skinny. I say **** that, don't worry about what they say, and pay attention to your OWN self and your OWN calories to make sure you reach success. Whoever says you can't do it is just planting negative seeds in your head. Tell yourself you can.

No problem! Good luck. :)

Well, your first problem is that your BMR is higher than MFP's recommendation of 1450. In the long run that won't be good for you! So the first thing I would do is immediately begin to eat your "sedentary" BMR at bare minumum. I think the weight gain you experienced was probably from "eyeballing". For me, personally, I…

I eat it often. Old-fashioned or "quick" are better for you than pre-packaged packets (less sugar/chemicals).

It might take a few years, but I've definitely heard of people who have lost 100lbs+ and tightened up their skin with time and exercise. Don't expect everything to look "normal" right away because it will take a while for your body to catch up. I believe almost anything is possible without surgery and I wouldn't recommend…

If I were you, I would eat something even if it were only a banana or a granola bar. But everyone is different and if waiting to eat breakfast works for you, then there is no reason to change what you're doing. Do what makes you happy!

I agree with this post except for those two points. I switched from all-day snacking to eating roughly 3 meals and for me it feels a lot better. I think you should change this to "eat however often you want because science doesn't have proof for anything being definitively best"... because it makes me happy to eat 3 meals,…

Yeah, there's actually a small group of people around the world that stick to a "Raw Foods Diet"... if you go to a bookstore you could probably find a few recipe books for it, and there's a lot of into on google too.

This is crazy. Before reading this post I didn't realize my lack of energy could be due to eating more - but I think the past two weeks have definitely been due to that. I thought it was because of a ton of other things! I'm glad to hear that this is a short phenomena and that it'll go away soon. Totally stuck on #5 right…

Mine for today isn't too bad. I'd replace the hot dogs and beans I had for dinner with some grilled chicken, though, and maybe add another vegetable. Shoot for foods that don't come out of a can or a container, and if they do make sure they are something close to what they were made of. Have fun!

I'm pretty sure that statistic should be changed to "PRE-diabetic"... but even then it's a stretch. And you should probably include that they're American teenagers. The Poor Starving People of Africa would most definitely skew that statistic if we were talking a global percentage...

I think what you're doing sounds fine. You're supposed to take rest days (and I would even suggest one weekly, work out 6 days instead of all 7).

There's a troll in the dungeon...

After school snacks are the best! I would get rid of the cookies and potato chips, though, and try microwave popcorn instead. The 94% fat free bags are really good for you. Cooking with less fat and oil will be much healthier. You can always set up a slow cooker when you have more free time so that dinner will be ready and…

If you don't like certain foods then you can't just make the switch overnight, but try to include them gradually. Maybe if you have trouble picking out fresh fruit you could buy canned? Most stores sell peaches and pears in individual cups and they taste delicious. My advice would be to try out one or two new things each…

You can eat anything you want as long as it fits into your daily diary! Calories are calories. Eat what makes you happy. :)

There is a disease that many people have in which they get sick if they eat gluten. They are intolerant of it and therefore must meet special dietary restrictions, hence the labels for gluten free foods and recent popularization.

It really will help you in the long run. To find out how much you should eat to lose at a normal rate, calculate your BMR and your TDEE (basal metabolic rate and total daily energy expenditure). You should subtract 500 from your TDEE to lose a pound a week, or more safely, 250 for 1/2 pound a week - which is a good idea if…

I'm living proof that it's not.

Maybe not on everything, but Thai Kitchen's Pineapple Chili sauce is pretty amazing. So is ketchup.

I really want to be able to run a whole 5k by the end of the summer. My self-training program is gonna start soon!
