Fat is good for you! Eat butter! Eat lots of olive oil! Finding balance is key. Once you throw away the old mindset of "fat is bad" there will be huge doors that open to you... and everything will suddenly be much more delicious. :P I would try to moderate saturated fat intake but don't worry too much, just use common…

I tried that once with Special K. It was the most idiotic thing ever, don't do it.

I think you've persuaded me to get them early hahaha! I was planning to wait so they could be more of a celebration, but I have reason to celebrate what I've already lost. Plus with the academic year winding down they can be a dual-purpose self gift. :D Thank you! And you're right - they'll probably be really fun and be…

Too much sodium on a regular basis is bad for your heart.

Oh, jeez! You need to eat more! Going for so long consuming less calories than your BMR is seriously hurting you. Up your calories to at least 1700. You may gain at first but you will feel MUCH better with more energy and after a few weeks will go right back to losing weight. I know this seems backwards compared to the way…

I've heard that there are a lot less restaurants in Ireland/Scotland compared to the U.S. You probably won't be bombarded by eateries, and the pubs etc will most likely have healthier "home style" food choices rather than anything too high in calories. I wouldn't worry about it, just try to pick healthy things off the menu…

Chicken breast white meat is the leanest, but there's not a whole lot of difference between that and the rest of the bird so any part should be okay for you to eat. Skip the skin because that adds a lot of fat (unless you're fond of it, in which case go right ahead!) It doesn't really matter how you cook your meat, just be…

I use measuring cups for every kind of food except meat. Just use good judgement.

Anything in pieces or that requires a spoon. Instead of biting an apple, cut it into slices first. Same goes for bananas. Low-fat yogurt or oatmeal is also a good choice. And of course... try eating with chopsticks. :P I've done this many times because A) It's fun and B) Food takes three times as long to eat even if you're…

I think everyone feels that whey when they first start going to the gym! Don't worry about what other people are thinking. None of them would be there if they weren't trying to be healthy, and they won't judge you for what you are doing to get healthy either. And if they DO, they're just jerks. Keep up the good work! The…

I would never do it. I don't really have anything against girls who do, but for me personally it just seems weird.

Even though Applebees advertises a lot of "healthy" dishes, I don't think they're very great for you. Which is disappointing because I used to love that place. :( Plus they only have one entree in a healthy category without mushrooms or seafood, both of which I hate. Outback is fun, since you can get a lean cut of meat…

Exactly right, which is why I now really emphasize the need for a balanced diet rich in fat and protein as well as carbohydrates. Butter is no longer evil! However, neither should it be eaten in excess - as with all things, moderation is key. Several people have already answered this comment much as I would have. Many of…

More of everything. I don't eat as much protein now that I've finished P90x, but I try to eat a minimum of 35g of fat every day and at least 60g of protein. I'm less strict about breads and carbs in general. (This past week isn't a great example though! I was feeling sick so I haven't been working out, and finals are…

Yes, eat them.

You aren't eating enough food! I think you're probably consuming below your BMR. You need to calculate your BMR and net that amount every day at a bare minimum. You should probably feel better after you start eating more. Your body is trying to tell you something.

I started January 1, 2011 and I'm still going! In the beginning of 2012 I started P90x and working out a lot. Kind of hard to believe I've been doing this for almost a year and a half, but I feel great. As of today I've lost 83 lbs total. Howdy to everyone else who is sticking with it!

I don't think you need electrolytes for just an hour of running. Just eat an apple before you leave and when you get back, have something like peanut butter with a banana - plenty of potassium and sodium in that, and you'll be saving a lot of money on chemicals/mixes you don't really need. I like to leave the house with as…

Thanks! It was all just a result of not having the knowledge of how calories worked. I hope we've all been able to help you to avoid being in the same predicament.

I had a friend with a similar experience, but I don't know the details of her diet at the time. I'm no expert but there might be a correlation!

For some people it's just easier, and compared to other convenience lunch "restaurants" it is definitely one of the best options (i.e. instead of stopping at McDonald's.) Subway has lots of vegetables, and even though some ingredients are high in sodium you can still build a pretty good sandwich and save the time/effort…

There's a lot that science doesn't know yet. If you personally see improvements without dairy, then there's probably a correlation, and it could have to do with any aspect of the dairy product. It's possible you could be some form of lactose intolerant or allergic or whatever and that the problems arise via your skin.

Sure. If that works better for you, as long as you are eating the right amount each WEEK then there's not really a reason why you couldn't carry over calories to a following day.

Btw I made a post about my experience dieting below my BMR because I had some bad side effects. If you're interested... here it is: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/572503-why-you-should-eat-more-a-lion-s-tale Always eat above your BMR!

I increased my calories by 200 to meet my BMR needs about a month ago. Before that, I was losing .8 lbs/wk consistently. Over the last month, my rate has increased to 1.2 lb/wk. I didn't notice any weight gain but after two weeks I saw a big drop, and now I've been losing pretty consistently (more each week than I used to…

If you don't go to the gym there's no point in paying for it. Personally, the sidewalk has always been a great free place for me to burn up extra calories.

The goal MFP gives you is probably under your BMR, and at a point, your body gets mad at not being fed enough and won't lose weight. The idea is to eat more than your BMR and what you're burning with exercise to make your body happy again to shed those pounds. 1. Yes, eat 1550 every day. Plus the calories you burn working…

Buy pants with thicker fabric? I've never had this problem because I usually wear jeans or thicker cotton pants. And I don't buy anything that fits too tight.

Bump in case anyone else has any ideas.

Nope, they are all less than they were before. Does this just mean I'm losing proportionally or... what? I'm just confused. I was kind of hoping my BF% would have been lower.
