  • When I got pregnant with my second I was about 20 lbs heavier than with my first. Without trying, I naturally lost weight before I started gaining. When I expressed concern to my OB, she said sometimes your body will naturally regulate your body to get it where it needs to be. In the end, my highest weight with both…
  • I add it, then try to eat only a portion of them back. I portion, meaning I eat within the range, but don't get too fixated on the number.
  • I have a friend that talks about running all the time- specifically how far she ran and all the aches and pains involved. Frankly, not interesting. Likewise, I don't think the fact that my walk canceled out my breakfast calories is of any interest to anyone but me.
  • This. I think it is a mistake to conclude that because it is not "exercise" it is not burning any extra calories. I don't know about you but the last time I packed up a house it was physically exhausting. I must have burned way more calories, packing and moving boxes and cleaning than I have even burned in a gym. Yes,…
  • I am with you completely -- about the same weight lost over the same period and really don't notice the difference.
  • I haven't done any research, but I would think that the Fitbit TDEE is the accurate one since it has your actual activity, so that is the number I would go with. I would check first to make sure you set up the Fitbit correctly, though, as the calorie burn seems low to me, but again, not an expert.
  • Yes, my weight is all over the place. Partly water, partly crazy scale that cant seem to give me the same weight twice (yesterday I got on it six times and the weight variation was about a 1 1/2 lbs all were different, today it gave me three consistent weights). I ignore those that my gut tells me are not correct and only…
  • I have no help, but am SO FRUSTRATED by water retention.
  • This is why I like the fitbit --- it appears that I am more active than I thought. Good information to know.
  • This is me. Water with flavoring added is water in my mind.
  • Panera --- have to check their menu, there is one nearby. We have done Chipolte and Noodles and Co most recently.
  • Not quite what you are looking for (because you keep it on) but I recommend the Fitbit. The reason I recommend it is it helps identify a lot of non exercise activity. Depending on the exercise, it may or may not pick it up like a heart rate monitor (great for walking and running, though). But I have found it is great for…
  • I have mine set to sedentary, and I will agree, I get a Fitbit adjustment pretty much every day. I do have a pretty sedentary desk job (unless I purposely get up and move), but my car is not parked close, so I have a 10-15 minute walk each day to and from my car. I like getting the adjustment each day --- I consider it my…
  • I would be happy with one that just gave a consistent reading. Stepped ion my scale 6 times this morning, different weight each time, with over a pound and a half variation. And no, it is not the battery. Every digital scale I have used does the same, it is so frustrating.
  • I will admit it, I use an elliptical and a stationary bike simply because I can read my nook and exercise at the same time. People talk about women not wanting to lift because of fear of bulking up..BWAHHHH.. in my case its because I cannot read. (And not accepting criticism for either, it makes me happy and is better than…
  • This annoys me so much. I routinely retain water. I can now tell when it is happening, then I refuse to get on the scale.... I wish I could figure out how to stop water retention. But like other poster's said, at least in my case, it appears that hormones are a major cause of this.
  • No it is not the same thing. HIPAA is a federal law that covers the privacy of medical information. It is illegal ofr a doctor's office, hospital, pharmacy, etc, to disclose medical information without authorization. I am not aware of a similar law covering credit card receipts. Is it inappropriate, yes, Can an employer…
  • I have been very happy with the Fitbit One (had it two weeks). I thought about waiting for the Fitbit Flex, but now I am glad that I didn't. I like the fact that the One is more discreet. For me, the One is doing what I want it to, motivating me to walk, climb stairs, etc.
  • Have you looked through the groups on MFP?
  • I also don't like it when people wear their PJ to the hotel breakfast. Really? can't you get dressed before coming down to eat?
  • For me neither BMI nor other height to weight charts are useful I am too skinny if I am in the normal BMI range. My goal weight will leave me in the overweight range For me, % body fat is a much better indicator.
  • I just decided the meal was 1000 calories (most comparable items in the database were 600-700). I couldn't think of a better way of doing it. Because of exercise, I still finished below goal and ate without guilt.
  • I was thinking of doing the de-construction method, but i suspect that there is sauce or something in it that is adding calories...
  • For me its motivation to get off my butt and move. I can see how much I am moving and when it is lower than I expect, I will take the dog for a walk or walk around at lunch time at work.
  • Feel free to add me. 45, mom to a tween and a teen, married, working, and have a dog
  • That is my goal. The last time I was at 140 (which I maintained for about two years before my weight started climbing) I had several people tell me not to loose any more weight. I was at the ribs visible on the chest point, and wore a size 4 or 6. Isn't it strange how two people with the same height and weight can look so…
  • It never occurred to me to clip it to a bra -- hmmm, I like that
  • Great, thanks!
  • Why did he say palm oil was good? My understanding when I lived in Africa was that palm oil was pretty low on the scale of good oil to consume.
  • So I am right -- as long as it is lean protein, I shouldn't worry about having too much?
