Time Warner Cable! *I don't have many options here in Maine, and I hate that they can do whatever they want and get away with it!!

I've taken a few recipes from Skinnytaste and added them to the dinner rotation. One is Chicken Enchilada Soup (chicken, black beans, frozen corn, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth and seasonings) - served with some shredded cheese and sour cream. Another is a white bean chicken chili ( sort of doctored it up some, so…

I get really burnt out on packing food for the day in the morning. Usually some sort of leftovers, but when I need to get creative I love having a sweet potato and some sort of protein, either something left over, or a chicken sausage or veggie burger. I'll also make sandwiches with Arnold Sandwich thins or use lettuce…

You guys are funny!! Agree with everyone else (more than three, but only takes me about 30 mins) - squats, deadlifts, OHP, bench and rows. Will be switching to pushups and pullups when I can actually do one!

Amazing story! You are proof that we should never give up, no matter what life may throw at us. Congrats on all your accomplishments!

I stumbled onto the "lifting" threads and became interested. I had always been a cardio girl. I read New Rules, but it seemed too complicated. I followed the Stronglifts 5x5 for a while and had some progress. I used (and still love) kettlebells. I now do a hybrid of dumbbell/barbell/kettlebell and bodyweight. I agree with…

I have a Fitbit and a Polar FT4. The Fitbit is great for tracking steps and stairs. It estimates your calorie burn throughout the day based on that info plus the stats you enter during set up. The HRM is used for workouts (I take the Fitbit off when I work out) and it uses your heartrate and other stats to estimate your…

Nice!! My Mom got diabetes (I don't know that much about it..adult onset?) and she controlled it all with diet - no insulin. Prevention is the best bet for me. Waiting for my book to arrive...didn't want it on my kindle...I need paper!

I have a like-minded coworker, and we often discuss healthy food and we motivate/support each other in our goals. We have another coworker who pays no attention to anything healthy and we get eye rolls and negative comments from her all the time. Trying to be healthy just seems to bother some people who aren't.

Oh no! Wish I hadn't seen this! DD is my Friday treat day!

I picked up one at Walmart - cheap, cheap - because I didn't want to spend too much if I didn't like it. As others have commented, the handle is rough, so I went back and picked up some lifting gloves. I think the brand is Gold's Gym.

Mostly repeating what everyone else has said. I've learned so much here. TDEE, BMR, BMI, BF%, etc.... I was a cardio queen my whole life, but reading the boards and joining groups got me to try lifting some weights. Love it! People posting links to other websites...NerdFitness, Bodybuilding.com...led me to so much new…

Why did you post, if you don't want people to explain it to you?

I'm pretty much at maintenance now (still working on body fat percentage, but not worried about the number on the scale). I do still weigh in to keep on track and I have a range of 3 pounds that I fluctuate in. Not to worry!!

I started using kettlebells last June (replacing a dumbbell routine at the gym) and this is the DVD I used. I started with 15 lbs. and instead of increasing the weight I moved onto the Warrior workouts - using 2-15# bells. Then I took a break to try Stronglifts 5X5 (barbell workout). I know I was lifting more weight, but…

First you need to know what you're burning each day. Use a calorie calculator like this: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Then based on your weight loss goal, say 1 pound a week loss - eat 500 calories less each day/ or burn 500/day or a combination. It's simple, really Just math, but you need to know your…

For the record, I'm not mad. I know that whenever anyone posts something in the boards there is always someone looking for the worst intentions. It's the chance you take.

Wow! Guess I should have explained the whole story to avoid ticking someone off..... She talks about the hours of cardio she does, and then tells us all that at her TOPS weigh in that she loses a pound and then the next week she has gained two, etc. She tells us all how she has cookies/cheesecake etc. in her house, but…

I really need to share this with some of my non MFP friends! I have an old HS friend on Facebook who talks about the hours of cardio she does everyday...whenever I share a link from Girls Gone Strong or Strong Lola with her, she never says a word. Some people just don't get it. Glad I finally figured it out! Thanks for…
