  • i crave soda too. Either a real coke or a diet pepsi. I've been off both for over a year or two. and at points in my life i've guzzled down up to a 2 liter of diet soda per day. i'm convinced it is deadly. that is what got me off (i started reading about the health risks of diet and regular sodas). Since then, i've…
  • Totally relate to your struggle--but, one thing i've found is that hard excersize is a great battler of sleep issues--i deal with PTSD and Anxiety as well and when i do regular yoga or weight lifting (which i think is proprioceptive feedback to my neurological and muscular system) i sleep much more deeply; longer, and more…
  • Sometimes when i look at the calorie burn in relation to my output i am incredibly disappointed...maybe it is because i am short and not able to do more than 35-45 minutes each time i go to the gym. it feels like i am doing something incorrectly. On the other hand, i look at the Heart Rate and set my target between 130-150…
  • I do find that restaurants are pretty good about adapting when i ask--like no pita and a bowl of corn tortilla chips instead...(gluten issues too)...Thanks for your ideas. Great loss and good picture BTW~!
  • ok. Good solutions. i'm finding my pocket book likes me better too when i dont' eat out as much. Juicing is expensive after the initial outlay for the machine but the veggies are well worth it. Might be an answer to your "fruit" sugar issue. there are lots of green and veggie juices that are plenty healthy. jk
  • Great ideaTrin. like it. jk
  • When i have no calories left i eat a raw Kale salad with cold shrimp with lemon and a tbs or more of almond oil and salty spices. That is about 93 calories depending on the oil. the Kale is satisfying the lemon and salt and oils pull it all together.
  • Definitely worth it in the end. I drank DP for at least a decade with lots of problems you mention. Cut out gluten and DP and have gone to iced teas or seltzer waters with no diarrea and other bloat problems. When i made the switch i did it slowly replacing one with the other. i add unsweetened cranberry water/juice to the…
  • I like your reply. It really allows us to know who our friends are at work--they notice, they congratulate, they celebrate and don't pry. Selectivity is important. jk
  • a Dance class sounds amazingly fun. Do it. Anything to burn those calories and get the endorphins flowing.
  • Melissa, i can totally relate. i'd lost about 10 lbs very quickly with a lot of excersize and great motivation then i had a busy week at the office and a huge fall that made me have to completely quite for anotehr week and a half or maybe two. but, the good news is that with myfitpal i still kept track of my eating. i…
  • great work! seeing similar results but fell off for two weeks after a nasty fall. just starting to get back into it and feeling the changes again.
  • i lift weights but as a woman for probably different purposes. small reps-high weights, 3 sets, Upper body only at this point. It helps a lot. Definition and calorie burn is an added bonus. Love it.
  • I read a lot of the posts below and it makes me incredibly sad for us all. Myself included--here are some things i think about when with a partner in an intimate relationship; if the person loves you they will love you in your body (regardless of what it looks like) a lot of sexual abuse survivors are either hyper sexual…
  • i agree with you and mfp allows that brutal honesty. what i lke is that even if i had a terrible day (i.e. cheese cake binge or no activity) it is generally not as "bad" as my emotional mind believed or told myself. that is reassuring, allowing me to start anywhere at any moment back on the healthier track. at this stage…
  • Hi ICI, thank you for responding. by body gains i mean the leaner look and feel i was getting from weightlifting, yoga, and proper nutirition. i had a big set back when i got busy at work and then had a fall on a horse thus dissallowing my routines. tonight i am trying to get back to the gym and do cardio and the pool (a…
  • hi Andrea, sorry for your losses; How does MFP help you?
  • Hi everyone, i'm jan. i like the group focus because body recovery has so much to do with emotional eating, CSA, and approaches to support recovery (health and emotion). i'm pretty much an emotional eater and MFP helps me monitor carefully--which i like. the connections to CSA are obvious. I struggle with anxiety and…
  • look at the 21 lbs you already lost and what an incredibly accomplishment that was. Don't beat yourself up and get back on the wagon. find some good substitutions for things that are problems (i like to add salty pistacios and it kills my crave for salt but isn't chips and i can't eat more than 1/2 a cup which is lower cal…
