I haven't given anything up. I am less likely to pick up fast food, and if I do, I order fewer items than I used to. I rarely buy desserts at the cafeteria at work anymore because I don't know how many calories they have (other items there at least have a good estimate). One thing that I have really noticed is cheese. I…

Looks great! My only suggestion would be to add a couple more almonds or a piece of cheese with your 10 AM snack so you don't just have carbs by themselves.

Use a chocolate cake mix for more chocolatey-ness. I've made it with just the cake mix and the can of pumpkin, no other ingredients. Very dense, moist and good.

I made some semi-healthy green chocolate chip peanut butter cookies (for the kids...right....!) And we are having coleslaw with dinner. Oh, and I had a pear for lunch!

I don't eat them very often, but in general I have found that the ones with a meat item are more filling. If they are rice or pasta-based, I feel like I haven't eaten anything and am still hungry. I do like the Healthy Choice meals better than Lean cuisine, probably because they have dessert, lol.

I have to disagree. Salads can have great nutritional value, depending on what vegetables and other items you include. Furthermore, the fat from the dressing helps to absorb those nutrients.

That article doesn't really demonstrate your point. It lists 2500/2000 daily calories for men/women in one place, and 2000/1500 in another place - regardless, they are listed as MAINTENANCE calories, not weight loss calories. The article discusses how one must create a deficit, just as this site does. And here is a direct…

I agree, Bolthouse Farms yogurt ranch is awesome! It has about half the calories of regular ranch but tastes just as good. And I find that I don't have to put very much on, either. They have some other varieties too but I haven't tried them.

I went to the store one time and bought an unusually large amount of produce, even for me. I had it all on the conveyor belt. The cashier looked over at it with this expression of horror on her face, I guess she was new and hadn't memorized all the codes yet or even learned what some of the items were. I felt a little bad…

I always think of the protein number as a goal, not a limit. Make sure you get enough and don't worry about going over.

I've had the Mirena for about 6 months. So far I love it. I had spotting for about the first 6 weeks, then basically normal TOM for a couple months and now my periods are almost totally gone. The only side effect I've noticed is that my skin isn't as nice as it was with regular bc pill or nuva ring - no surprise there, and…

I think you should totally go for it! The last few zumba classes I have gone to were taught by non-skinny instructors. I think they were more inspiring than anything else, and probably less intimidating than a super-thin instructor might have been.

I have a terrible time getting anything done if I am home with the kids. I just bought a weighted hula hoop and have been trying to use it a little bit - it will be easier when the kids can go outside. If your little one is big enough, maybe try having him ride a Big Wheel or something while you do your walk. I know it…

What about something with fruit? I cooked some sliced apples in the skillet with some oil a while back....I had cabbage in there too but you wouldn't have to if you don't want. I added a little red wine vinegar on top and it was great.

That sounds really good, I'm adding it to my "try" list!

You could focus more on the "daddy needs a lot of protein to get big muscles" aspect when you try to explain to the kids, whereas "mommy already has big enough muscles so she doesn't need as much food" or something like that.

I sometimes have 1/2 cup of greek yogurt (full-fat, plain) with 1/2 cup blueberries and 1/3 cup of low-fat granola cereal. It is about 270 cals, filling, delicious and satisfying.

I think it tastes weird, but good once you get used to it. I have had some kinds that are better than others. I took one to work once and kept feeling like I should be getting in trouble because it felt like I was drinking a beer. I haven't had it regularly enough to notice any kind of health benefit, but it does seem like…

ditto on making sure to eat enough. In general, your food choices look pretty good. If you want to mix it up some, you might try more protein and fewer carbs. Also, I notice you incorporate a lot of restaurant and take-out foods. This can be ok, but remember that the calories you are adding may be underestimated. A lot of…

Generally speaking, I think that the regular product is usually better. Especially with dairy, because the fats are natural - they are supposed to be there, and will help you stay satiated for a longer time. The low-fat items have to have unnatural things added to them so that they will taste good. And they will not help…

This was considered true until quite recently, when it was discovered that adults do have a very small amount of brown fat.

The article he sourced was pretty bad, too.

My husband is lactose-intolerant and is able to drink Acidophilus milk without any problems.

Interesting post. I think the title is a little misleading. ANY kind of restrictive diet can lead to the types of cravings and binges as this author described. Furthermore, some of the foods that the author identified as "dirty" are not necessarily so. Eggs, bacon, pizza, burgers, and so on can all be incorporated into a…

Not as a supplement, but I use it sometimes when I am baking.

Today I had an English muffin with 1 laughing cow cheese, 1 sliced roma tomato and 2 turkey sausages. It was about 240 cals and I had coffee and half of a grapefruit with it.

One of my favorite blogs!

That sounds good, I hadn't thought of putting peanut butter in a pancake. I made these ones yesterday: 1 cup old fashioned oats 3/4 cup cottage cheese (2%) 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup frozen blueberries (defrosted, including juice) Blended it all together in the food processor and cooked like regular pancakes. It made 6…

I would probably count just the chicken, maybe add in ~1/4 can of broth to the total just to be safe. In any case, I would keep that broth and use it for soup!

I have made this recipe from Allrecipes.com. It is really pretty and tastes delicious. Chickpea Salad with Red Onion and Tomato Ingredients * 19 ounces garbanzo beans, drained * 2 tablespoons red onion, chopped * 2 cloves garlic, minced * 1 tomato, chopped * 1/2 cup chopped parsley * 3 tablespoons olive oil * 1 tablespoon…
