Wait, what? You missed a turnaround and ran 11.2 K?! LOL. That's awesome (but also sucked at the time, I'm sure.)

I'll quickly recap January and set a 60 mile goal for February. 1/2 - 2 miles 1/4 - 2.5 1/6 - 2.4 1/7 - 2 1/8 - 5 1/10 - 3.1 1/11 - 2 1/14 - 3 1/15 - 4.7 1/19 - 1 1/20 - 3.1 (5k race day!) 1/21 - 4.5 1/25 - 3 1/26 - 6.5 44.85/50 mile goal A few days after my 5k, my husband and I ran (for the very first time!) 6.5 miles…

I just finished "How Bad Do You Want It?" about a week ago. It was a Christmas present from my husband. What an incredible book, and so inspiring.

@MobyCarp Good point; no two injuries are the same. The feedback I've received so far on here has been great though. I'm definitely going to take it easy the next few days -- or few weeks, depending on how I feel by the week's end. And by taking it easy, I mean no running at all. Walking on it today at the grocery store…

Congrats on meeting your goal so early in the month!! That's fantastic!!

@ceciliaslater That is great to hear! I really hope this is the case. Like you, it hurt so bad initially but a few minutes passed and I was finish my run! It's a problem ankle in that I've sprained/rolled it in the past. I guess I should be thankful it wasn't worse. WIth this being my first misstep/injury since I started…

Thanks for the reassurance I won't lose too much ground. I hope I can recover quickly. The weather is starting to warm up here
-
Thanks! I sure hope it's speedy.

Welcome! 10 miles is a great goal for you.

Thank you!!

What a crazy rollercoaster two days! Here's an update on Saturday's F^3 race in Chicago! Going into it, I had two goals: 1) Never slow down/stop to walk (like I did two years ago in both my last two 5k races) 2) Finish below 33 minutes. I accomplished both goals! Woo! I crossed the finish line at 32:18. That's 6…

Felt great. Today, I meant to run super slow, but…

Yeah, I think I'm going to do an easy run tomorrow just to stay loose and also run a few minutes before the race to warmup. I feel like any aches and pains I'm feeling may be paranoia, in part, but also by resting/not moving.
-
CONGRATS! Running 2 miles without stopping is a HUGE accomplishment!

Race day is Saturday. I'm nervous but also looking forward to it. It's my first 5k race after a two-year hiatus with running (or exercise for that matter!) Hah. I picked running back up in September and still feel extremely new to it all. I hope it's paranoia ahead of the race but my legs have been super sore after I…

@kevaasen @PastorVincent thanks to you both for the words of encouragement! :)

Wow! Forecast is 48 degrees with a light drizzle here in Chicago tomorrow! What a heat wave. I know what that means = No treadmill and all trails! Super pumped. Aiming for 5 miles tomorrow. Might do more depending on how I feel. I ran 5 yesterday, which is a lot for me. 13.9 miles / 50 mile goal

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely be more prepared next time. I am a little relieved, too, knowing I wasn't properly dressed below the waist for yesterday's temps on the lakefront. I was super hard on myself when I stopped running at mile 2 because my legs were numb, lol. Now I know! :D
-
LOL. Oh thank god! I was like, "Wow, these guys are dedicated!" It was 25 below zero with the wind chill here about 4-5 days ago -- needless to say, I did not run outside!! :D
-
When you say below 25, do you mean 25 degrees below zero? Or 25 degrees? Thanks! I ask because it's been THAT cold lately here. Temps yesterday were about 23 degrees with wind chill feel temps between 9-15 when i was running. Good to know I may not have been appropriately dressed below the waist. It stressed me out a bit…

1/1 - Rest 1/2 - 2 miles 1/3 - Boxing 1/4 - 2.5 miles 1/6 - 2.4 miles 1/7 - 2 miles + 30-minute boxing session 8.9 miles so far / 50 miles goal Today, I finally braved the Chicago cold and went downtown for a run on the lakefront. I think the amount of layers I had above the waist was perfect! The balaclava was really…

Thanks -- I assumed the treadmill digital readings and my Samsung Health running tracker app were generally accurate in my burned-calories calculations, but I guess you're right -- they are not taking into consideration that I am probably more efficient in my running than I was four months ago. Interesting! Appreciate the…

Good point! I use Samsung Health but just downloaded Strava yesterday and planned to try that app while running outdoors. I do notice I tend to 'compensate eat' when I know I've put in a lot of miles one day and MFP says I have "extra calories" to spare, lol.
-
YES! That's hilarious.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask but I feel more comfortable asking here than starting a brand new thread in the "Weight Loss" discussion forum. I'm curious if any runners here have weight loss goals but have trouble losing pounds -- even though they are making gains in lung capacity, speed, endurance, etc.?…

Whoa! How did you make this cool graphic with all of your maps?! That's so neat.
