I don't fit in. I care, but I do it anyway. I gave up eating red meat/pork and fried foods 30+ years ago. I have really bad family history regarding heart disease. It also helps on the weight front. It creates a problem sometimes when eating over at friends houses. I try to eat around it if there is just a little bit in…

last night was a can of turkey chili and steamed vegetables. I did a fast 4 mile walk into town and then watched a parade. I was pooped.

I brush my teeth and fall into bed. I try to stay up until 10 but it is easy for me to fall asleep in front of the TV or with a book in hand. I don't snore.

Has anyone tried using smaller plates? Do you find that you eat less?

rejoined Weight Watchers in November 2002 (at the age of 54 and totally menopausal) weighing in at 202 pounds (and 5'3" tall). People thought I was a little nuts to "start a diet" a week before Thanksgiving. My specific reason for doing this was to try to keep from gaining any weight between Thanksgiving and January. I…

I believe you posted it on Feb 3, 2018. It was part of another thread, women losing weight after menopause. You talked about your initial loss. I think you said you once got to 128. You said you gained weight, partly due to meds. You said you went back to WW and tried Freestyle but it didn't work with your lifestyle so you…

Drink water, it takes the edge off your appetite.

It worked for me when I clicked on it.

I order salad dressing on the side at restaurants. I dip my fork in the dressing and then stab the salad. This way I get just a taste of dressing with my salad for not that many calories.

I think women should wear or not wear anything they want. That said, heels are so bad for your feet. I broke my ankle/leg 20 years ago (yes screws to put it back together again) so I can't wear heels anymore. I live in my running shoes. I'm also more inclined to walk further if I have on running shoes.

Someone suggested that I watch how my thin (women) co-workers ate. We spent a lot of time together in lunch meetings, conferences etc. I noticed that the thin women would really watch their portion side at work events where they couldn't control what they ate. They skipped the deserts etc. They were always on top of what…

I think when I'm tired it is harder for me to make tough decisions. I'm more inclined to NOT make the better choice.

Happy Birthday Cindy

Way to go Cindy, seems like you've been on a solid downward trend.

I hope things get better for you. You've had a very difficult time. Hope you recover quickly.

We are having unusually warm and dry weather in northern CA, which is not good for the environment. I am taking advantage of really beautiful weather right now. Great weather for walking and hiking. High's in the 70's.

Happy birthday Jim

I love cauliflower

Only a 1,000 calories per day? Why so low?

Way to go

Cindy, thanks for the pizza tip

My brother was picking me up at the airport. I told him exactly where I was standing and He drove right by. He thought it was some teenager. I was in my 50's at the time. I had a circle of friends that joined me on MFP once they saw my "cute figure". I lost weight just as I was getting ready to retire but hadn't announced…

same here, I track and I can slowly lose. No tracking and I slowly gain.

Way to go Jim, so close.

Taking a look at the entire month, I can see my downfall is social events. We have friends come visit for a few days, we go to someone's house for dinner or ... When it is just hubby and me, I'd doing OK. I don't want to ditch my friends, so I need to learn how to eat when I'm around them. I'm down 2 lbs for the month. I'm…

I used to think I could lose 2 lbs a week on average. It just doesn't work for me. I have done things like develop trend graphs to look at my history and predict how long it would take me to get to goal. These aren't mathematically linear predictions but they generally tend to be too optimistic. The best I can do is a…

I wanted to say that I like the idea of this thread. I was expecting something on Monday. When I didn't see a post, I did some journaling on my own. It was very helpful to me. Thanks for doing this.

Congrats to both of you

This is a really topic. I agree with podkey on habit, diversion, and avoidance. I also agree with Cindy about decision fatigue. Sometimes when I'm really beat, I just can't make any more decisions.
