I find that the most important thing is to log what I eat. I log on MFP because it is the easiest for me. I find that if I log, I tend to not eat high calorie things because I don't want to log it. - Yesterday, I wanted Triscuits. I looked at 120 calories for 6 of them and ate far less than I would have otherwise. It is…

I don't have sweets or salty treats in the house. I don't miss them if they aren't right in front of me. Out of sight out of mind for me

Thanks, I've been wanting to try them. Now I have a little more incentive.

When I was running I did. If I ran 6 miles, I needed a little more food. It made a significant difference. Once I got up to 9 miles, it made a really big difference. I'd be so hungry I could gnaw the handles off the refrigerator. I went for a two hour hike yesterday and I counted it. Today was grocery shopping at Costco,…

Sometimes when we go out to lunch, I take a picture of my food with my hand in the picture. That way I can log it at home. My hand helps me remember portion size.

I like the idea. I'll post next week.

Tracking with MFP and my IPAD made it sooo much easier. Doing points with the little book and looking up everything was so frustrating to me. I usually gave up after a month or so.

@Jim376mfp Please keep in mind that most people have no idea what others weigh or should weigh, especially if they are different sizes. I'm a short )5'3" female. I remember a guy at work, well over 6 foot that wanted me to guess his weight. He was a runner and worked out so very much in shape. I kept insisting I had no…

I think the LTL posts here are the best anywhere. I think if there was a way to pick the best of the week and posting in a blog might be good. Of course some of the humorous blogs are also great. For a smile, go read, "Death of the scale"

We have fish about twice a week. My favorites are grilled salmon and grilled ahi.

Glad it went well. Hope you have an easy recovery

My parents were both overweight, but we were required to eat 6 servings of fruits and vegetables per day to get ice cream for desert. I've grown to love fruits and vegetables and eat a wide variety of them. I still love ice cream but have it only a few times per year.

Glad you are both OK

Congratulations

My husband has been great. He is thin and very active. He does a lot of the cooking and is willing to cook or prepare what I need. I also have a few close friends, my "diet buddies". We exchange regular emails to provide support.

I set mini and long range goals. My mini goals are at 5 lb increments. I've always been a slow loser, even when I was a runner. It helps me to have short term goals. I also set a long term goal that gets adjusted. I don't put a timeline on it. I also set behavior goals such as fish twice a week, drink more water, be…

I read lots of articles about eating healthy and losing weight. I've given up almost all added sugar. Eating sugar makes me want more sugar. If I don't eat it I don't miss it. I try to eat te Mediterranean diet with no red meat/pork. We often have vegetarian meals. I also eat hearty whole grains and avoid white flour. It…

So let's say the house is cheaper by $x because of the location. When you sell it, it will still be cheaper by $x. There will also be fewer potential buyers because of the road noise. When you get ready to sell it, you can disguise the road noise with a water feature or outside speakers. Other things to think about. Are…

In June, I decided that I needed to lose the 10 - 15 lbs over my personal goal. I've learned that it is much harder to lose/ maintain my weight since I can't run anymore. I have a foot issue so I can only walk for an hour a day. I still have problems with eating in social situations. I'm still working on that. Vacations…

Oh #@#$@#$ 88olds hope things turn out OK for you, your friends and family and your house. Take care of your paddle board too.

4 things in order of "badness" - I don't want to log dinner because I ate too many calories - I don't want to weight myself because I know the scale went up more than just normal fluctuations - I have to "suck it in" to get my pants to fasten - My pants won't fasten

Wow, losing weight on a long trip like that with lots of sitting. Amazing.

I started going to WW about 40 years ago. In those days tracking was pen and paper. It was a PITA and took some effort to look things up. Once I got clued in on MFP's online food tracker with the food database, it was so much easier. It still takes motivation to keep doing it, but sooo much easier.

Seems to me that we need to work on treating these conditions as a society and not penalize people for them. I'd also add substance abuse to the list. Several years ago, people were getting discounts on insurance if they lost weight or quit smoking. However, it was really viewed as being penalized if you smoked or were…

Congratulations Jim! This is awesome.

- My parents and my siblings were / are overweight. I don't want to end up like them. - I have screws in my ankle from an accident 20 years ago. My surgeon said, "don't gain weight" - I want to stay healthy. My father had high cholesterol and BP. He had heart surgery. I'd like to skip the pills and surgery. - I want to be…

The usual; bran flakes, greek yogurt and blueberries. Oh yes, lots of coffee.
