I read this article also. One thing of particular interest. At about 6 weeks, there is a strong correlation between people that have a lot of weight variability and not being able to keep the weight off long term. Said another way, you have to do something you can maintain for life. However, their big point was that at the…

Thanks @rachel0778 We made Quinoa, black bean, sweet potato chili. It was really good. I can find the recipe if anyone is interested.

I'm one of those that switched from pts to calories. WW taught me how to eat. Counting calories with MFP is easier for me. The rest of the world does calories. It's easier to count with the MFP tools.

@imastar2 wow!! Congrats

Everyone says it, but just how do you do it? How do you take the guidelines of the WW program and turn them into a lifestyle you can live every day...from now on? That is what we are here to explore. Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Newbie? Join in! Veteran? Join in! Your thoughts may be just what…

I read that a recent study showed people on plant based diets lost twice as much as meat eaters with the same deficit. I already eat a lot of vegetarian meals but I tried eating even more. It was at the same time when I was traveling. My weight up a little but too many variables to see what caused what. As to Jim's point…

I have bran flakes, greek yogurt and blueberries every day.

Insomnia here as well. I'm on the left coast.

1) Social eating/drinking 2) All inclusive dive trip 3) Not enough sleep I'm feeling a little proud of myself. We went camping with our RV friends. I stayed under my calorie goals even with potluck happy hour and wine. I had a lot of talks with myself. At happy hour I brought strawberries with yogurt dip (yum). The other…

Good for you. That is quite an accomplishment.

Seems like you could stop and get a cooler and healthy snacks at the local grocery store. With a baby in the car I would think you will need food for her. Also think about making sandwiches for lunch along the road. We stop at rest stops or a local park to make lunch. You can also buy fresh fruit and vegetables already cut…

@gavinflynn1 I've been doing some soul-searching as well. I'm going through a high motivation period to lose the 10 lbs I've gained over my personal goal. I figure now is the time to think it through and see if I can figure out how to maintain my weight.

I eyeball fruit and vegetables, but I track them. OK, maybe not the lettuce in a sandwich which is 5 calories. I tried intuitive maintenance but that hasn't worked for me since I gained back 10 lbs over my personal goal. I'm back to tracking, measuring and weighing. In losing mode, MFP gives me 1200 calories per day. A…

Three things, enough sleep, good balance between social and alone time, and being outdoors. I think the balance between social and alone time depends on the person.

Good discussion

I tried intuitive maintenance. I know that it works for some. Sigh, it didn't work for me.

Health is more important than work - don't forget it. I was a workaholic. I worked 60 - 70 hrs/week in a high stress job with a long commute. I didn't have time (so I said) to go to the gym or run as often as I needed, visited the vending machine with candy on those late days and had wine when I got home to reduce the…

A really long article that says dieting is hard and doesn't often produce sustainable results. Some people say you should just accept the way you are. On the other hand, weighing less has lots of benefits. For me it is hard to lose weight. Maintaining is hard. It may always be hard. But if I don't keep working at it, I…

I agree with everything everyone has said. Perhaps an interesting discussion for another day is what are the good habits you have in place that help you get through the times when motivation is low. Good habits alone won't get you there, but they sure help.

Breathe and go for walks or runs. When we bought our first house years ago, a co worker asked if I was pregnant because I looked so awful in the morning. I wasn't, just stressed and she was snarky. Best of luck in your house hunting.

So If I read this right, you are 5 lbs away from onederland. Just awesome.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I too am a stress eater. I think you will miss your mom forever, I miss mine. Hopefully the stress is going down. I hope going back to work helps you add structure to your snacking. Good luck.
