I haven't taken measurements in a while. Do you think this would still hold even if I had been working out regularly before I started dieting?
-
I wear a FitBit Charge HR so I don't log my workouts. I'll enter my food intake into MFP, but then use the FitBit app to see the calorie expenditure vs. intake. I don't eat back my workout calories, but try to keep it at a 1200 - 1300 intake for the day.

Thank you. That does put it into perspective. I guess I just need to learn to be patient, and start weighing my nut butters :).

If It's not exactly it's very close. I do use a food scale - the ounces of food that I have listed are the ounces of food that I have measured out. I use tablespoons for things like almond butter, or a tablespoon of creamer and use liquid measure for soups. I'm careful to level off the measuring spoon. When I eat out, I…

Within the last year alone I must have said 'This is it, I'm losing weight' at least a dozen times. And each time I would last just a few days before falling off the wagon. I'm not really sure that's so different about this time, but after hearing about food scales, measuring and CICO for practically forever I think I'm…

These look great. Thank you!

Oh! I love Happy Scale already. Thank you!
-
That's a great tip. Thanks!

Good to know - I find that I always have a pretty large fluctuation in weight during my period too. I always gain about 5 - 6lbs and it's disconcerting to say the least. Good tip about Happy Scale, I'll check that out. For those of you who do weigh every day, do you log your weight into MFP every day as well?

Ugh, I know. My digital scale is in my bathroom and occasionally I'll be mean to myself and step on right after a big meal. Curious - how do you measure your weight loss instead?
-
I'm having the same problem. I've just returned to work and am only coming home with 7 maybe 8oz if I'm lucky. I've noticed the scale is moving a little faster too. Before I returned to work it was more or less a steady .5 - 1lb drop per week, now it's going a bit faster, maybe 1 - 1.5lbs per week. My LO is 3 months and we…

I completely empathize. My daughter is just about 3 months old and I've just returned to work. I'm also exclusively breastfeeding and am discovering that I'm clearly not one of those women who loses tons of weight while breastfeeding. Before I got pregnant I'd just completed my first half marathon and was in the best shape…

This is such a great idea! I love following fitness blogs, it's great to see how other people stay motivated. I followed everyone else, can't wait to check them out. I'm: Doesthismakemelookfit.com

Some others may not agree, but I still stand by at least doing a trial run with your sneaks and socks wet. The first TM I ran was doubly uncomfortable because the shoes I chose constricted when they got wet and started pinching my toes at mile 1. I thought it would be fine since they were my regular running shoes, but I…

I did Tough Mudder Philadelphia on Sunday and the best piece of advice that I can give anyone is to do a gear check. Get the sneakers, shirt and pants that you intend to do the TM in. Then, put on all your gear and completely soak yourself - socks, shoes, everything. Then go for a 3 mile run. Seriously. If anything feels…

I'm doing Tough Mudder on Sunday!!!! I've done one before, so if anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer as best I can. Tough Mudder doesn't time, they tell you if you're interested in knowing your time you should carry a waterproof watch. There is no race organizer checking everyone to see if you finish with your…

I'm not sure which ones you're referring to, but I have a Bialetti and I love it. The inside is white and it makes it much easier to see what I'm cooking. The manufacturer recommends using a bit of oil to cook with, but it's so good I only need to use a few drops of olive oil and I'm good to go.

Book marking because I'm curious about the replies. I defintely gained weight by taking in too many calories, so eating more to lose weight is kind of confusing.

Bookmarking because I'm struggling with this too!

Yes, we'd probably move to higher weights, slightly lower reps (15 - 20 instead of 25) after the half. He said we're trying to build/maintain muscle strength while not fatiguing them too much since it's my first half and I'm building up my running distance. The overall goal is to not tempt injury before the big day. I've…

Sorry, I was pretty unclear. I do my weight circuit twice so I'll do: 2 sets of 25 each of deadlifts (60), squats (90), cleans & power cleans (45) do take a breather and then do it again. I'm working with a trainer so he has me on a regimen that incrementally ups the weight while I'm training for my half. He also throws in…

Usually deadlifts, squats, cleans & power cleans. I'm working up my weights, but I think it's getting heavy - I do 2 sets of 25 each of deadlifts (60), squats (90), cleans & power cleans (45). I'll do that 2x a week with a kettlebell class thrown in if I'm feeling strong. For that it's also high reps - usually 1 min swings…

Thank you everyone for the input, and some really good advice. I got out my digital food scale for the first time last night and I weighed out all of my portions. Now that I know what 8oz of food looks like, I think this may be a little easier (fact: 8oz of chicken is smaller than I thought it would be. Whoops). I'm going…

I've done Tough Mudder and the Rebel Run. I had so much fun that I've signed up for another Tough Mudder and the Super Spartan this summer. I'm glad you had a great time! For me, they kind of help keep me on track with training. Knowing that I have to be able to x,y,z by a certain date keeps me inspired to continue my…

I'm curious so I'm inserting a little bookmark for myself. I have the BodyMedia Fit band right now, but am curious about the FitBit Flex. It's mostly for cosmetic reasons since the BodyMedia is kind of bulky (it's a pretty an armband that's pretty conspicuous). If I need to wear something 24/7 in order to work I'd rather…

Hm - my sodium intake is usually out of control. Along with carbs, salt is one of my weaknesses. That's interesting about the carbs & protein. I'll make a conscious effort to eat more protein, less carbs and see if that helps. I was wearing a Body Media Fit band for a few weeks, but at the moment, I'm not 100% convinced of…

I agree - I do have to be more consistent with the food diary. I understand that I need to use the scale. I have a digital one that sits on my kitchen counter, but I find it too bulky to carry around. I will start measuring my dinner portions, and I could probably start bringing lunch to work (conveniently pre-measured…

I think I might have mentioned before that I don't weigh my food. I do own a food scale, but it's difficult to use it consistently. What I tend to do is either eyeball my portions. Mostly I try to scan whatever I'm eating and measure that way. My salad mix or my veggies occasionally come in a neat little wrapped package…

The BodyFit (supposedly) measures your calorie expenditure - sleeping, sitting, working out etc. I wore it 24/7 for about 3 weeks which gave me the 2400 TDEE average. Earlier this week, I chucked it away in disgust after I stepped on the scale and became discouraged. I'm pretty regular with my workouts since I'm training…

\ I used this calculator for my TDEE http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ And this one for my BMR: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ Oddly enough, I just went to change the setting in my MFP to lightly active, current weight (153), exercise 3x a week for 60 minutes, lose .5 lbs and it put me at 1670. MFP…
