Keto has saved me. It isn't the boogeyman people make it out as. Regardless of what diet, calories do matter. You just don't suffer as much when you're not hungry, and Keto keeps you full. Research it, there are lots of support groups. Remember than insulins job is to force excess sugar into cells, fat cells. If you have…

Depression is tough. My best advice is to 1) go low carb and eat as clean and healthy as possible. Since joining MFP and eating healthy, Keto style, my depression is much less even though my circumstances are much worse. 2) I don't do this enough, but it helps...take a walk everyday. Getting out into the fresh air, &…

I feel ya! Been there my whole life. I don't think we really know all the reasons why yet, but I have read some interesting studies. The scientists are just starting to learn about the trillions of bacteria that live inside us. One did a study with two mice, where the intestinal bacteria was taken out of the fat mouse and…

I'm also Keto, you can add me if you want.

I started MFP in 2013, lost 55 lbs, quit and gained 75 lbs. Im back! I started Keto in July, I have around 120 lbs to lose, but am losing very slowly. It's harder when you're older I guess. Anyhow, I sure could use some Keto friends, so I can learn from them, get and give support, be inspired, and feel that I'm not alone.

Sounds like it to me. I'm fairly new to Keto myself. I've read about the Keto flu, and many people complain about those symptoms due to electrolyte imbalance. Add some salt to your food. I salted my food and only felt tired for a few days. I did get a few headaches but off and on. Glad you're feeling better. Good luck!

I've been doing my best on Keto. Always seem to go over a bit on carbs and under a bit on protein and fat. Although not perfect, I've lost 18 lbs so far. I got sick of eggs, but maybe I will try them with cream cheese. Most of my carbs come from salad and veggies. Add in avocados, salmon, tuna, meat, full fat-low carb…

When your blood sugar goes up then drops, you get hungry. Carbs raise your blood sugar. Cut the carbs and sugars, up the proteins and healthy fats. Fats and protein help to keep you full longer, and keep your blood sugar stable. My cardiologist told me to cut out processed food, carbs, sugars, and fruit. Instead eat…

Have you cut your carbs out, or reduced them significantly? If so, add magnesium and salt. If you've cut your calories too low, your body won't have the energy it needs for vital organ function and exercise.

I bought the book, not done reading yet. I watched the show, "My diet is better than yours." I've been watching podcasts, and have noticed that now that I am putting off eating until later, I am not as hungry. I am excited, and losing weight....finally! I have thought all along that "a calorie is a calorie", and "eat less,…

I was a diet soda addict! I drank them to fill me up at times and still gained weight, lots of weight. Everything I have read says that it fools your brain into thinking sugar is coming, and when it sees there is no sugar, your brain signals to eat more. As for a calorie is a calorie, I no longer believe that. Watch the…

Thanks HappyTrails7, I wish we could learn those lessons earlier in life. I had an aha moment when my son was about 8. He was a beautiful little boy with blond locks and big blue eyes, so cute! When he came home from school in tears because someone called him ugly, it just clicked for me. If they called him ugly and it…

Mine says, "Time to take care of me!" Because I took care of my son, then my parents, then foster kids, then adoptive kids, last year my husband battling cancer. It's my turn!

I can so relate! My beloved grandpa used to bounce me on his knee and sing, "I don't want her, you can have her, she's too fat for me." I know he was just playing with me, but.... I also remember the taunts from schoolmates, "fatty, fatty, two by four, can't get through the kitchen door." Then there was the ultimate…

Thanks for the warm welcome! I look forward to getting to know you all!

I was invited to join by alphabetsoup2013, thanks! This last weekend I turned 58. That number seems so foreign to me because although my body knows I'm 58, my mind finds it hard to believe. I have been married for over 32 years, my oldest will be 26 this month. I also have a 15 & 16 year old that sometimes make me feel…

I use a portobello mushroom. I chop up the stem and use it as a topping along with 1/4 cup pizza sauce, cheese and one piece Canadian bacon. I cook it on a baking sheet for 15 minutes at 350 in the oven. I really love them and they fill the bill. The mushroom reminds me of thick crust which I like better than thin crust.

Sounds fantastic...must try these! Thanks!

Bravo! You look beautiful! But the most important accomplishment is to have a healthy relationship with food! Congratulations!

Sugar lights your brain up just like a junkie. That's why you want it. Do get away from wanting it you have to stop eating it. For 3-4 minimum days eat vegetables, lots of them, learn proteins, lots of it, healthy fats like avocado and olive oil. Drink water, lots of it. When you want sweets, eat an apple with cinnamon…

Hi, I am 56 years old, 5'7, and weigh 226. I started back in January and have lost 44 lbs. several ladies I know on MFP have lost twice as fast as I have. I know the frustration. I am always looking for supportive friends as I believe they are the secret weapon. I know I wouldn't be here without them. Add me I will help as…

Hi, you can add me! I have some friends that support and some that ignore. I like the supportive ones!

Thanks for the post, as the advice given here has helped remind me why I need to keep going. I would say the best advice is to be honest on calories and log them! The one thing that has helped me stick with this lifestyle change so far is MFP friends and community. When you feel like you are falling, reach out and there is…
