  • I'm just starting but I did have to cut back. Only weekends and only a couple and I've switched to lower calorie lower carb. (I miss my craft beer) More than that and it shows in my weekly weigh ins. I only get 1200 calories from MFP. It was probably the biggest contributor to my weight gain to begin with.

  • I think this depends on your fitness level and how long you've been at it. Back in the day I would be on Level 5 or above, but I'm starting over again and I can get my heart up to 170 on Level 1.
  • Recently there was a link to an article on MSN called The Only 12 Exercises You Need to Get in Shape. Okay hyperbole, but they are all basic bodyweight exercises that you need no equipment for. And for a beginner they were plenty tough enough. A couple I couldn't do the recommended reps. The article also broke them up into…
  • I just buy the Good Seasons Italian packets and make my own with vinegar and oil - I just reverse the vinegar and oil measurements stated on the packet. I've found the low cal bottled dressings tend to have a lot of sugar. For the same reason I'll use the Hidden Valley ranch packets too - use your own low cal or fat free…
  • Tilapia fillets (or mahi mahi is really good this way too) - probably any white fish large piece of tin foil; place fillet in middle; throw in grape tomatoes (halved), kalamata olives, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, pepper, a smidge of olive oil (last time I also added some zucchini too); wrap up the tin foil tight so…
  • Thanks for the responses. It's not the shoes though - first thing I did was go to our local running store and get fitted. I didn't really have good shoes to run in. I hate to think it's because I'm going too fast - hell I'm at a 15 minute mile - but I'll try that.
  • OK so I'm new to this TDEE thing. Apparently mine is about 1800. So, should I only be eating that amount on workout days? or all the time? Or am I still supposed to subtract something from that and set that lower number as goal if I want to lose? I've basically got my calorie goal set just above BMR right now (which ends…
  • Okay - I may be very late on the bandwagon on this one, but have folks had the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha (had my first this winter)? Man! It's like drinking warm, liquid, Thin Mints. Delish And only 130 cal if you get the Skinny version. Edited to say OP I laughed heartily at the comment on Thin Mints servings.
  • Not the point of your question, but for less calories and fat than godawful turkey bacon - get center cut bacon. All the delish still there!
  • I just try to keep portion controlled stuff around. Fruit almost never does it for me if I really want sweets. Those Edy's Slow Churned 5.8oz ice creams are really good. Something satisfying in being able to eat a whole container of ice cream. Also, because DH is lactose intolerant, we have the Purely Decadant "ice…
  • Thanks for the laughter folks! :)
  • I didn't think this was true with HRMs; especially if you are inputting VO2 max, etc. It's supposed to be taking all that into consideration when it gives you your calories burned number.
  • PEANUT BUTTER JELLY WITH A BASEBALL BAT!!! [/quote] OMG - how has no one quoted this yet? LOVE!!! I try to stick to the all natural kind, but my hubby insists on low fat - to mean that just means more sugar. edited to say - apparently I haven't figured out how to get the quote in the Quote box.
  • I'm a skim drinker. Maybe it's all in my head, but I think the organic skim tastes better. Even the texture seems different. Although, I've been getting the Smart Balance skim with Omega 3s lately and that seems good. Both are much pricier. Almond/coconut blend is awesome on cereal. Put that on some chocolate Cheerios and…

  • People always think stock is so difficult to make. It couldn't be easier. Okay it takes a while but it's so simple. I make about 10-15 cups at a time. I just divide into 4-5 cup servings in freezer bags and freeze until needed. We make a whole lot of soups in the winter so they come in handy. As far as herbs go, some…
  • Sugar Free Hazelnut Coffeemate - I can have 3-4 tbl in my 2-3 cups of coffee and it's only about 50 cal. and little to no fat. I don't eat a huge breakfast so I can afford that little bit of calorie splurge. It's when I go for the Baileys Irish Cream Caramel creamer (non-alcoholic) that I get in trouble - those babies are…
  • Agreed
  • Never been a big fan. I get center cut bacon. It's only slightly less fat content, but a good deal less grease when cooked. Though pricier.
  • {/quote] Adsense and Google ads handle the ads based on what you, YOU specifically, have looked for... hence why there's the occasional guy going, "Why am I getting ads for women's lingerie?!" Right now, I have an ad for ModCloth above this post; it's not what MFP is promoting, it's what YOU are either talking about…
  • Starting over again too. Joined last night. It would be nice to have folks to help motivate me (and commiserate from time to time too). :)
